One of the features of this special is Beryl and Malcolm McDowell performing a scene from "Entertaining Mr. Sloane", which they had appeared in together on stage. In her 1984 autobiography "So Much Love" Beryl revealed that McDowell, of whom she was very fond, had accidentally caused her an injury during the stage version:
"[...] Malcolm - poor little thing, he didn't mean to do it - but he had broken my foot. I went to James Cyriacs, and he said, 'Well, all these bones leading up from your toes are broken and I have to put it in plaster.' I said, 'Oh, you can't, because I have to wear stiletto heels, and I'm opening tomorrow. I'll get you some tickets for the play and then you'll understand why I have to wear stiletto heels!'"

Beryl referred to recording a Noël Coward piece with John Standing for this special, though no scene exists in the completed product. Possibly it was removed from the final product, as the opening scene contains a joke from Beryl that the special was "at rehearsals, about 15 minutes too long."
In her autobiography she recalled: "[...] John Standing and I did a rather jolly Noel Coward number where we wore tail coats. We made rather a mess of it at rehearsals and Billy [William Chappell] gets terribly angry if I do it wrong or if I forget the steps and don't concentrate."

William Chappell was listed as "artistic director" on all three episodes, as he was freelance, not working for the BBC.
