The series was very successful for ITV, with the first six episodes receiving an average of 7.33 million viewers. While this seems significantly lower than their BBC ratings, this is because they were calculated under the JICTAR ratings system, which calculated ratings by homes, rather than viewers. An indication of how successful the show was can be gleaned more easily from the chart position, with the Telly Show averaging 10th in the UK ratings.
However, the seventh episode was screened opposite
Nationwide with Prince Charles (1977), and failed to make the Top 20.
