La Horde is probably the best action film of the year. It doesn't work as an out and out horror but it is a balls out insane action film. The plot in cops and criminals join forces in a tower block as the End of Days happens and the dead return as bloodthirsty aggressive zombies. If you like action brutal, bloody and violent then see this. The plot isn't anything original but this film has verve by the bucketload. The scares are good and the tension is slowly built higher and higher. The only complaint is that the ending isn't clever despite being different.
Go see it if you love robocop/28 days later/dawn of the dead.
Great fun.

La Horde has to be the best zombie film, or action film for that matter, that I've seen in a long time.
The story starts out with bent cops out to avenge the killing of another policeman by gangsters. The tension and action were so good from the outset I was almost wishing it wasn't about to become a zombie film. When it did, I wasn't disappointed.
The action is fast and brutal and is broken up with genuinely funny, but very dark, humour. The pace of the film doesn't let up by not getting bogged down in explaining the reasons or cures for the zombies, instead focusing on the tensions in the uneasy alliance between the police and the gangsters.
My single criticism of the film is that it shouldn't be openly advertised as a zombie film, leaving their arrival as a surprise. But this doesn't stop this being the one of the finest action or zombie films around, I highly recommend it. See it as soon as you can!

i saw this at frightfest and it was a bit special, it might be because of the size of the screen (massive) or that it was a packed house, but it could be because it was so good.
a bunch of coppers go to kill off a bunch of gangsters and for no apparent reason, well nothing was explained, the world suddenly goes to pot and there's a lot of mad psycho zombies out to kill and eat everyone.
the coppers and the gangsters form an uneasy alliance and the rest of film is not stop violence, gore and a bit more violence.
these arn't romeros zombies by a long shot, there fast and a single bullet to the head doesn't do much. a shotgun tends to do the trick though.
its rammed full of cool set pieces and the odd bit of humour. (the old guy doing his anti zombie bit with a big axe and an even bigger machine gun is pretty funny.
its french its a zombie film, think frontieres crossed with day of the dead on crack and your near to what this film is like.
god knows when its coming out on general release but make sure you see this at the cinema.

My summary line is pretty clear I think and I will talk a bit about the story plot. Because the movie begins like a cop thriller and ends up being a zombie action movie in the end. Using the "Dawn of the" comparison fits the bill here also. Although as it is more action than horror, it's more like french version of the new "Dawn of the Dead". People "locked" up in a building, while Chaos surrounds them, with only a few social and/or political comments.
While I'm a huge fan of the original (George A. Romero) "Dawn", I thought the remake worked as an action movie. And so does this french movie too. If you can watch it on the big screen with an audience, the experience is really great (a Festival even, as I had the chance to) on a big screen (fun action ride that is).
