Before being cast as Lorna, the only words Arta Dobroshi knew in French were the days of the week.

Interesting or useless? depends... but EXHAUSTING

I had not seen any movies by the Dardenne brothers before, so I really did not know what to expect. The story seemed fairly interesting for a film amateur like me.

And it is for sure, the story is complex and very well written. Although surely not a movie for kids, many people will find it an interesting one at the least. In my opinion it is well worthy of its "prix du scenario" at the Cannes film festival.

Nevertheless, the way it is directed (brutal) and the psychological darkness of this movie will leave some people, or maybe most people, cold. I personally could sometimes not understand the motivations and the reasons why the main characters do what they do. It's a shame, but I found it hard to really feel involved in the events.

The protagonist is brilliantly portrayed by Arta Dobroshi. But once again, her interpretation of a character so depressed and so sad may leave many people feeling cold. On the other side, that is what makes her interesting from a psychological point of view.

To sum up, this movie is the journey of a woman in a very particular situation. It's a tragedy. Some will be fascinated, others will find it depressing, or even useless...

I give it 7/10 for a good and elaborate scenario, and for the consistent acting.
