Fox is expanding the Season 2 cast for Alert: Missing Persons Unit, from John Eisendrath and Jamie Foxx. Alisha-Marie Ahamed (Family Law) is joining as a new series regular and Gil Bellows (Ally McBeal) has been tapped to heavily recur opposite Scott Caan and Dania Ramirez in the procedural drama.
Written by Eisendrath, Alert is set in the Philadelphia Police Department’s Missing Persons Unit (Mpu). Each episode features a heart-pounding, life-or-death search for a missing person headed by detectives Jason Grant (Caan) and Nikki Batista (Ramirez). Together with the Mpu team, their job is to find the missing or abducted and reunite them with their loved ones. Jason and Nikki, once married, have a very personal connection to these cases as their own young son went missing and was never found. Austin Butler in Apple TV+’s ‘Masters of the Air’
The 2023-2024 primetime television season looked nothing like previous years, with reruns, unscripted shows, and international imports populating broadcast networks’ lineups. The WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, though undeniably justified, took quite a toll on all the networks. Fortunately, the strikes have been settled, production has begun on nearly every new and returning series, and the midseason January lineup hints that things are slowly returning to normal.
Here’s a look at the shows scheduled to launch their new season – or series – premieres in January 2024. NBC’s Chicago shows – Chicago Fire, Med, and P.D. – will kick off new seasons on January 17th, with the Law & Order franchises returning on January 18th. New highly anticipated series debuting in January include Echo, Expats, Masters of the Air, The Brothers Sun, and Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale.

Midseason is the new fall.
As Hollywood and the broader industry continue to recover from the debilitating dual actors and writers strikes, the 2024 television landscape is coming into focus. All of the broadcast networks have set return dates for most of their shows, with the postponed Emmy Awards now set for January 15 and no usual Premiere Week to speak of.
But as series return to production with lower episode counts this truncated season, here again is Deadline’s annual list of premiere dates for new and returning TV series.
The roster covers hundreds of broadcast, cable and streaming programs debuting through 2024, with many listed as Tba as the year kicks off. It includes series and season debuts, shows returning from hiatus and some one-offs such as live sports and awards specials but not movies. The list includes shows that are in limbo for now but are likely to get premiere dates in the coming months.

Zachery Ty Bryan is making headlines for all the wrong reasons. Police arrested the former Home Improvement actor in Eugene, Ore. on Friday, July 28, following an altercation with an unnamed woman, according to a report from Entertainment Weekly.
The one-time sitcom star, 41, reportedly assaulted a woman, whose name was not released. When police arrived at the residence, Bryan was no longer there. He was later tracked down and booked on charges of felony assault.
The incident comes nearly three years after Bryan’s arrest in October 2020, also following a domestic violence incident. In that case, he was accused of assaulting his 27-year-old girlfriend, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, and taking her phone away when she attempted to call 911. He was booked on a felony charge of strangulation and misdemeanor charges of assault in the fourth degree and interfering with making a report, Us Weekly reported at the time.
