Too much loopholes but watchable...
ayushgarg-2356522 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Season 1 starts from on good pace and and intrest bt season 1 somehow looses his plot to too much character building of bhumi's character bt the last episode of season 1 is killer and creates desperation for season 2... Same with season 2 Starting with a bang bt somewhere there is too much khichdi in between episodes and the climax of the series is poorly written....last episode of season 2 ruins all the desperation climax could be much much much better... bhumi's performance is standout in whole series...brilliant performance...she looks stunning in whole series...one time watch atleast for bhumi's performance...

Don't watch even when under Lockdown.
alangeorge-3205825 March 2020
5/10 just for the effort. The series tries to do something but sub-par acting, uninterested cast, plenty plotholes and an unconvincing storyline doesn't really let the show take off . In the words of nayak, "koshish karta hu" is what the series did at best, but fails miserably. However liked and enjoyed Sasyas performance as much as I hated the clueless cop character, Fernandez who keeps losing track of his undercover agent. The lead, Bhumi tries to fit in this character but as expected doesn't really hold the interest of the viewers even though in quite a few scenes she delivers a good performance but thats not quite enough to save this series. Watch this series just to enjoy the character of Sasya, that too if you are completely bored in this phase of self-isolation and have nothing better to do. Otherwise a definite skip.

Its more a passionate love/erotic tale, in the style of "Oscuro deseo"
jbadewitz20 June 2022
Very passionate main actrice; content/plot is almost unimportant.. Very good (+ very passionate) play by. Aditi Sudhir Pohankar.. For people who likes these things of passionate/romance/erotic, its very.loaded/charged with energy.. By that some good/interesting scenes/shots..overall a better than normal camera-/cutting work.. to recommend, really ;-)

Good one
Kadher_mohideen2 July 2020
Acting,BGM, casting all are good, but the sequence present in the narcotics department are worse. Those scenes must be better than this. They didn't use new technologies while tracking and for the entire operation. Otherwise this was good series I'm waiting for second season.

Very bold hindi drama
arti_rules3 September 2020
Its a very true portrait of how most Indiansare - timid until they get a helping hand to attempt bold moves in life and once they do get bolder, there's no turning back. A good plot and good story showcasing psychology playing a big part in Indian cultures and mentality. Would've got a 10 but the new villain just liking our undercover cop did not make any sense. They lost the plot there and could've done better .

Sex sells!
collinsenosh22 March 2020
The premise of She - Netflix India's latest show - is so promising that nothing less than an absurdly confused narrative with no sense of timing and tone might have messed it up.

Even the smarter subtexts are fetishized by the makers. For example, equating the stature of sex workers in society to that of female cops in a male-dominated police force.

The execution of the narrative - the cheesy cop-planning sessions, her training montage, her sister's desi spunk, the incoherent flashbacks is too cringey to examine the complexity of Bhumi's transformation.

Aaditi Pohankar's performance is brave but uneven; she struggles mostly because she has been directed according to a script rather than her character.

The anticlimactic finale is the final nail in the coffin.

Finding sexuaity!
debamalya_das21 March 2020
What a powerful show. On the surface it looks like a thriller, a cop & goon chase but its not! Its the saga how a regular girl discovers her sexuality & the powers within. I cannot draw parallel to this with any other recent films or shows anywhere. This is different & needs a receptive mind to understand this. BGM is awesome, direction s on point, all actors are great! And Aaditi Pohankar oh boy what a discovery... SHE is plain as your next door neighboor & a sex goddess the next minute. SHE holds the show.

A must watch!

She...the woman who loved power
kainatrc21 June 2022
The series "She2" is a continuation of part 1" She"...it started exactly where it ended. Anyone who watched part 1 can fully relate but there is preview for the audience who missed to watch the first series. The story is about a senior constable who becomes an undercover agent for police and how the transition takes place right from her look to her overall personality. The line that says.."Agar kisiko hate karte ho usse marna normal h,par agar kisiko pyar karte ho usse marna power h"can chill your spine and can make you scared. But this particular line has great impact on the whole series. Too much of bold scenes, vulgar language and violence is there but we can ignore it because it's an"A rated "series. Series 1 is good but series 2 is better.

I have no idea what i watched
milindgoel25 March 2020
Wtf is it. Has no direction at all. By the end i forgot what i was looking for in the TV series. The narcotics police department is the worst i have ever seen. Even the one in Hindi movie Bichchhoo was portrayed better. Police is such useless. Worst technology to track a person. Come on you have an undercover agent with just her phone to track her? No Body tracker, no tracker in shoe or mobile or any other hidden trackers. Worst ever!! Do No watch this non sense!!

It will grab you and won't let you go.
rohitnwa21 March 2020
Tremendous work done by all characters specially Aaditi Pohankar. Finally Indian Netflix is trying something which doesn't involve Karan johar and showing the potential. Vijay Varma as usual catching the eye. How they build the character of the girl is amazing and it's a must watch watch for everyone who wants to emjoy crime, thriller and mystery. Desperately waiting for seasons 2 !!! Imtiaz Ali did a great work, congrats to him !!

Undercover in Mumbai
Tweekums20 April 2022
Bhumika 'Bhumi' Pardeshi is a Mumbai traffic cop who is recruited for a special undercover operation with the Anti Narcotics Group. She is to pose as a prostitute to get close to a crime lord. This is not easy as she is naturally shy. Away from work she is in the process of divorcing her husband. She lives with her sick mother and under sister, who is a student. As the series progresses her character develops as she learns how to use her sexuality, both at work and away.

This seven part Indian police drama is solid enough although not the best example of the genre. There are plenty of tense moments although many of these are due to Bhumi having inadequate support at key moments. The acting is decent, Aaditi Pohankar stands out as Bhumi; at first I was unsure about her performance but as the series progressed I thought she was nicely capturing her character's awkwardness. The finale doesn't wrap things up so I was pleased to read that it has been renewed for a second season. Overall a decent enough crime drama; not a must see but it passes the time well enough.

These comments are based on watching the series in Hindi with English subtitles.

Absurd with no strong story line, direction and acting
shalashutosh25 March 2020
SHE starts off ok in 1st episode and maintains same rythm in 2nd whilst i expected to become a stronger story line since it is directed by Imtiaz Ali. From 3rd onwards it just starts to slide down on all the levels - story, direction, acting and editing.

For people who are looking for some serious watching, i would recommend to stay away. There is no suspense, thrill or strong drama in story line. All the actors have acted below par with little bit of exception of Vijay Varma as Sasya. Aditi and Vishwas acting slides down with each episode to the extent that 6th and 7th were unbearable to watch.

Really didnt understand what Imtiaz Ali was try to show. Netflix has become a dumping yard for these creators - bart of blood couldnt build on a very strong story line and SHE was disappointment on all levels.

A Female Sexual Awakening Tale Ruined By Limp Mansplaining
criti-cally3 July 2020
The premise of She is so promising that nothing less than an absurdly confused narrative with no sense of timing and tone might have messed it up. Enter Imtiaz Ali: creator, co-writer, and storyteller. If Highway dramatized the psychological awakening of a sexual abuse survivor, his streaming debut, She, fetishizes the sexual awakening of a sexual abuse survivor. Captivity is the instrument of liberation in both cases. But whereas Highway's Himalayan-kidnapping sojourn informed its sheltered protagonist's mental gasp, She's device - of a fruitlessly deceptive procedural thriller - literally hijacks the series, leaving the sexual-liberation thread to appear like more of an aggressive Penthouse afterthought.

Sloppily directed and sleazy in tone, She, peaks in its opening credits sequence - a noir-inspired taxi ride through the underbelly of Mumbai that is way too refined for the show that it precedes. What follows is an unevenly told cat-and-mouse thriller that essentially begins with the chase having ended.

Aaditi Pohankar plays Bhumi, a lady constable in the Mumbai Police, who is deputed to go undercover as a sex worker, to gather intelligence about a high-profile drug smuggler. To get to the mysterious man, Bhumi must first aid in the arrest of a low-level goon named Sasya, played by the always excellent Vijay Varma. As Bhumi seduces and reaches a seedy motel with Sasya, she finds herself oddly aroused during the covert mission.

Varma, a phenomenally gifted actor who broke onto the scene with Amit Kumar's noir gem Monsoon Shootout and stole the show in Zoya Akhtar's Gully Boy, is absolutely wasted here as Sasya. His terrific performance is levelled by the strange direction.

As usual, with much deliberation and delay, Mumbai Police finally catches up to rescue their undercover officer and nab the suspect. The entrapped thug, Sasya, in his interrogations agrees to divulge the secrets of a nationwide drug ring - but only to Bhumi, because "there's something about her". He calls it a "scorpion" between her legs, but she knows what he means: She has been frigid all her life, and he views her as the ultimate challenge. Vile men love unresponsive women. Yet, training as a honeytrap requires Bhumi to weaponize her body. To take ownership of it, to feel empowered by it. The more she goes undercover, the harder she finds it to resist the power of her dormant physicality.

The crime branch nerds recruit her, gaslight her, train her as if she were Alia Bhatt in Raazi, and then become inexplicably incompetent at their own surveillance jobs. During her nightly missions as a fake sex worker, Bhumi realizes that her superpowers lie in her sexuality. Routinely undermined by the men who mock her, and, essentially abuse her to serve their own best interests, Bhumi is made aware that she has a certain allure that makes most men go weak in the knees. And then, she begins to enjoy the attention. It's almost as if she gets off on it. So much cognitive bandwidth is wasted trying to make Mumbai look murky-cool that Bhumi's everyday moments of erotic awakening reek of overcompensation. For instance, in one scene, she seduces a waiter who is staring at her - she leads him to an alleyway, letting him squeeze her breasts before she rubs his crotch and walks away. In another, she teases her sister's sleazy boyfriend with her deep cleavage and brazen body language. She grins wickedly through these moments, like an evil dictator finally being handed the nuclear codes.

There is no cohesion to She. It opens with its weakest episode, and wastes approximately a third of episode two on a needless flashback. By the time things begin to get interesting, half the show is over and we haven't really made much progress.

Even the smarter subtexts - for example, equating the stature of sex workers in society (Bhumi, too, is ready to do "anything" to keep her job) to that of female cops in a male-dominated police force - are fetishized by the makers. The narcotics officer (Vishwas Kini) "tests" Bhumi's Red-Sparrow aptitude by taking her to a shady bar and challenging her to pick up a random man. I understand the motivation behind the scene. It wants us to start perceiving the police as that abusive man who gets off on the sight of his girlfriend sleeping with other men - or, as the home that is more morally bankrupt than the criminals she attracts. Naturally, it's only a matter of time before the baddie turns out to be this enigmatic, intellectual lover who looks like he has accidentally stumbled onto the set of Before Sunrise. Her conflict: Soft villains or heartless heroes?

Noir cinema is defined by its stylized visuals, more so than most other genres. The high-contrast lighting symbolizes the central character's ambiguous morality; the expressionistic palette paints the story with a layer of fantasy. The camera in She gives the impression that it has been placed on a rocking chair, jittery like a tweaker on the streets, unable to focus. On other occasions, it seems as if the cinematographer has handed it to one of his operators, and commanded them to film the scene whilst standing on tiptoes. This might sound strange, but when you watch a simple climb up a staircase filmed in five different angles, all clashing with each other, you'll know what I'm talking about.

This stylistic crudeness is also emblematic of Bhumi, as a character. On paper, she is both a 'detective' and a 'femme fatale' -staple characters in film noir - but she never really comes across as a fully formed human being, despite Ali's best efforts, which include giving her a domestic life and a troubled backstory.

But the execution of the narrative - the cheesy cop-planning sessions, her training montage, her sister's desi spunk, the incoherent flashbacks - is too cringey to examine the complexity of Bhumi's transformation. Aaditi Pohankar's performance is brave but uneven; she struggles mostly because she has been directed according to a script rather than her character. You almost wish that her trigger was limited to her first experience with the creepy Sasya.

But that never happens, and I suppose the point of killing the suspense of the chase is the show's way of telling us that it was never about the thriller; it was always about the girl waking up to the concept of thrills. Which is why the abrupt change of perspective accompanying the introduction of Nayak is self-defeating - it only dilutes Bhumi's point of view and distracts viewers from the underlying genre of the seven-episode season. This obsession to construct an elaborate plot around the girl's "coming"-of-age story is her, and She's, ultimate downfall. Not to mention the climax, which has my wholehearted vote for this year's "Bad Sex In Fiction" award. That's when the sheet truly hits the unsuspecting fan.

Lacks any form of cohesion
harj-41-6070905 April 2020
Good acting but let down by incoherent direction and poor screenplay. What starts as an intriguing story, soon denegrades into a plot that doesn't move anywhere. Whatever sympathies we have for some of the characters disappears into confusion. Few of the storylines reach a point where we still care. Prepare for disappointment.....

Complex characters turned out to be weird and an incomplete story
Story is different and could have been even better. But it is the characters that needs to be highlighted, looks like the writers wanted to make characters with complex personalities but it ended up making them weird, an attempt of character development gone wrong.

Characters in this series are unpredictable and behave very strangely without any proper intentions to justify their actions. If a proper and detailed back story was there then that could have been improved the overall series.

Its an incomplete story overall.

Not worth your time.
chandni-ajmera27 April 2020
A totally pointless story (if you could call a few sex scenes patched together a "story") The police and the criminals are portrayed to be extremely gullible for their chosen professions, probably so they could simply steer the "story" whichever way they like, whenever! You've been warned.
