- In the harsh winter of 1943, Sara and Antoni hide a Jewish family at home. Faced with the stalking of the Nazis, Sara will have to face her own contradictions and decide if she obeys reason or what her heart dictates.
- Andorra, winter 1943.
In the tense calm of a borderland where the echoes of a nearby war arrive, Antoni and Sara, a young married couple, are expecting their first child. It is a time of war in Europe and Andorra is living outside these conflicts, although the air is thicker than usual, a tense peace is breathed among its inhabitants. News is scarce, no one knows exactly what is going on, what they are fighting for, and surviving another day in the mountains is everyone's priority. Antoni and Sara fight a battle with a difficult life, full of hardships, although she is the daughter of a family of reference in the village.
A cruel cold invades much more than the mountains to penetrate the hearts of people. Joan, Sara's brother, is the one who received the family inheritance, which was loaded with more weight than just money and land. Something happened in the past that has created a visceral hatred between him and Antoni that Sara is unable to understand.
The peace will be disturbed when Sendo, a passer-by friend of Antoni's, asks him to take in a family of Jews fleeing German persecution, with the promise that it will only be for a couple of days. Antoni reluctantly accepts, aware that the arrival of these people will disrupt life in the valley and, above all, in his home.
The presence of the Jews hiding in the house of the young couple must be kept secret, because if they are discovered by the Germans, it could have terrible consequences for the family. The lack of knowledge causes fear, nervousness, uneasiness and uncertainty. Sara's feelings become a tangle of contradictions in an internal struggle to discern between obeying reason, taking in people in need, or doing what instinct dictates to protect the daughter who is about to be born, expelling from the house a group of people who no one knows why the Germans want them dead.
The rumor about the fugitives spreads through the town and the inevitable soon happens. A sinister Gestapo captain arrives at Sara's house, precipitating a chain of dramatic events. The pressure overwhelms Antoni is forced to betray someone for hiding Jews, and thus save the family unit. What no one expects is that his accusation will fall on Joan.
From there, the past and the family secrets that the snow has kept buried for years, emerge again, taking center stage in the plot. Things become even more complicated for the family when the Gestapo continues to dismantle the evasion network that was to take the Jews from Antoni and Sara's house. This event raises the alarm: the German captain already knows where the Jews are hiding.
Sara and her baby are in danger, and now is the time to take drastic decisions to save her life.
