The Simpsons used to be one of the best show on television, but this episodes shows how much it has declined and that the writers are really running out of ideas.
This episode has the return of Lurleen Lumpkin, the woman from the third series who Homer ended up managing her singing career and ends up fancying our hero. This relationship nearly ends Homer and Marge's marriage. Lurleen has had cameos afterwards, such as in Marge vs. the Monorail and Team Homer. I don't think that Lurleen should have been re-introduced in a episode as a main character and Marge was too nice to her in the episode. Lurleen was only meant to be a one shot character and this is good over old-territory. The episode also has Marge looking for Lurleen's dad who abandoned her at four-years-old, a very similar storyline in the third series episode, Like Father Like Clown where Bart and Lisa try to reunion Krusty with his estranged father. Lurleen's dad also steals her song she wrote and became the manager of the Dixie Chicks, the stealing the song idea has been used in the programmes Califronia Dreams and USA High.
Besides the recycling of old ideas this episode is also not very funny. There was only one good joke which was how Marge had described Lurleen.
To be honest it is not really worth watching new Simpsons episode and I personally focus on the Simpsons when they were in there peck, series 3 to 9.
