There's nothing I love more than a very awesome horror movie poster. I currently have Final Destination 5, Splinter, The Ruins, Midnight Meat Train, and Perkins' 14 on the walls in my room, looking at my posters I thought, why not make a list of some of my favorite horror movie posters? So here is my list in no particular order and I am positive I am going to be missing a few, so we'll just leave those for another poster. Human Centipede 2 I lo…...

In the mail today I received my Perkins' 14 movie poster. My father happened to be around when I was opening the package so he got to see the poster. When he saw the poster he asked, "So is it a movie about zombies?" and I was like "No, actually I don't know what to call them but they kill in the name of this guy who kidnapped them 10 years ago named Ronald Perkins." What do you call the kids in Perkins. 14? They are not zombies because they are…...

If you thought we forgot about the After Dark Horrorfest III, you're wrong. We're just really lazy and prioritized a few other movies over the last few titles. But never fear (or always fear, we love horror movies here) because we're back and with one of the better films of the fest. Perkins' 14 is a low budget film that takes a swing at the zombie genre in a slightly different way. Rather then reanimating the dead or all that jazz, a messed up mother performs isolation experiments on kids and screws with their heads until they're pretty much mindless killing machines. In the midst of this, a troubled Sheriff whose life is crumbling around him still pines for vengeance after his son has gone missing - and as you might guess, the son might just turn up thirsting for blood. Kills About fifteen people find their demise at either the hands of messed up kids, get...

In a simple answer: Yes. Our reps at After Dark Films have informed me that After Dark Films is gearing up for a fourth year of Horrorfest. Expect another wave of "8 Films to Die For" to hit theaters in January of 2010. The question is: How many original productions will After Dark debut this time? In the past, Courtney Solomon's company relied mostly on acquisitions. For its third year, After Dark injected three "originals" into the mix: The Butterfly Effect 3: Revelations , Perkins' 14 and Slaughter .

For those that listen to Fango Radio (now on Sirius Stars Too channel 108), you might have heard the new trivia segment we have on the program. Director Craig Singer (Perkins' 14), in a burst of inspiration, dubbed the new trivia challenge “Tony’s Bloody Stump.” The Tony referred to is of course our own legendary horror spermologist, Tony Timpone. No, that doesn’t mean he works at The Sperm Bank of New York. It means that he is a collector of trivia and his collection, contained entirely in his head, is one of the more impressive mental databases this side of the pond. To most of us, the knowledge we’ve acquired over years of watching horror does nothing more than reveal that we have way too much time on our hands. Why should I know what kind of automobile the devil inhabits in The Car? Why do I know who directed Neon Maniacs?...

If there's one thing you can say about cinephiles, it's that we're usually way too critical of the tireless filmmakers who pour their hearts and souls into failed projects. Needless to say, many filmmakers can get pretty darn discouraged, and slither away to solitude. Remarkably, however, it seems there's at least one guy out there who refuses to lie down and take our cinephile shit! Instead he's chosen to listen carefully, embrace fan creativity -- and decode sometimes indecipherable online comments! Director Craig Singer is leading a cult of bloodthirsty fans ready to pitch ideas, screen test and mock up posters for his latest horror project. In 2007, Singer, along with After Dark films and Massify.com, went on the...

It’s that time of year again. For the third year in a row After Dark Pictures goes on the hunt to find some of the scares movies, or so they claim, in what has become known as Horrorfest. However, of the 24 movies this festival has given us, only a small few are worthy seeing. Sadly Perkins 14 isn’t one of them - a fan inspire movie where hundreds of filmmakers pitched their ideas and selected the cast. Similar to last years Mulberry Street the movie attempts an original stab at the zombie genre but ends an uninspiring heap. In [...]...

The second day of the New York Comic Con has ended, and I have had an exciting and busy day. I began by touring the con with Fangoria TV, including video producer Ian David and Managing Editor Mike Gingold. We ran into Michael Graves, former lead singer of The Misfts, and now star of the new After Dark horror film Perkins 14. We also got a moment to speak with 30 Days Of Night writer and comic book legend, Steve Niles.
I the met up with fashion writer Jess from Fangoria’s Cult Couture. We roamed the con looking for hot new fashion items. We found some great gear and made some new friends in the process.
Back at the Fango booth, Chris and Fangoria intern Sam spread the word of Fango and told everyone all about our three upcoming conventions in Chicago, La, and New York.
Ian David bought us all $5 soft pretzels and $4 sodas.

There's something odd about the recent wave of "vampire" and "zombie" films that claim to be one or the other, while in reality are neither. In Richard Crudo's directorial debut Against The Dark aka the much-discussed "Steven Seagal Vs. Vampires" flick, the creatures found within are said to be "vampires" (per the film's marketing), but really aren't - in a kind of I Am Legend sort of way.

Director Craig Singer, whose Perkins' 14 opens in theaters tomorrow as part of Horrorfest III, spilled the beans on his next endeavor. "My partner Chris Williams and I are doing a film with Warner Brothers called Fear 101 , that's the working title," Singer revealed. "It's really going to take the user-generated element to the next level, even moreso than Perkins' 14 , and give the fans an extremely robust opportunity to kind of participate in the feature film. We're very excited about that, I always wanted to do a film with Warner Brothers, and we're just starting the process as we speak so I'm pretty psyched. After Dark Films breaks new ground in its 2009 edition of the "8 Films to Die For" Horrorfest. Rather than enter its third year (running January 9th - 15th) with more acquisitions, After Dark head Courtney Solomon and his team filtered two original horror film productions into the mix. Perkins' 14 was one (a joint venture with Massify.com), the other was Stewart Hopewell's Slaughter . An art and film major hailing from Virginia, Hopewell makes his feature directing debut with the latter, a calculatedly bipolar experience (so says its director). With the holidays upon us and the 9th closing in, ShockTillYouDrop.com got a chance to connect with Hopewell to learn more about his film - he was optimistic, confident and well in tune with knowing when to hold back from...

Perkin’s 14, a film about cults, murder, and redemption, reached picture lock recently and is currently at Molinare, a post-production house in the UK. During a recent visit to the film’s editing room, director Craig Singer told us that Perkins' 14 is the real deal: all practical effects, a cast filled with non-sag actors and dash of 70’s horror show.
The director’s choice for fresh faces was a conscious decision to enhance the film’s authenticity. These actors have “no baggage” and “aren’t distracting” to the movie going audience who know, for the most part, the big stars are going to live, while the rest of the cast is kindling. With unknowns, the audience might not know who will be knocked off first. So here it is already Labor Day Weekend, 2008. Man, it seems like just a few days ago I was peeling July off the calendar as we entered the month of August. But no, it really is time for the August 23-29, 2008, Weekly Wrap-Up. And while Labor Day may have started out as a way to exhibit "the strength and esprit de corps of the trade and labor organizations" (according to Wikipedia), I'm going along with the modern interpretation of it as a day of rest for working stiffs and putting out a slightly abbreviated version of the Wrap-Up so I can get a jump on the relaxation part of the holiday. Stay safe, everybody, and enjoy whatever festivities you plan to engage in!
Conventional wisdom holds that movie titles should be clean, clear, and to the point. Most people would probably agree that worrying about punctuation shouldn't factor into the equation.

We first spotted the new poster for After Dark's 8 Films to Die For (official site) at this year's Sdcc. It was pretty hot then, but it is even better now that we've got an official hi-rez image of it!
Hot damn on a stick of holy fuck! That would make one sweet tattoo. Oh yeah, there's some skin and boobage too, I guess... Anyway, the third Horrorfest kicks off in January, and so far we know of three titles out of the eight: Broken, Slaughter (formerly Faithless) and Perkins' 14.
Perkins' 14, directed by Craig Singer, follows the strangeness of one Mr. Robert Perkins, who has built a brigade of 14 brainwashed bodyguards. All does not go well, however, as Perkins is kidnapped and his drones will do anything to see him safe ... anything.
