- Somewhere in Switzerland at the Eismann Museum, a phone ring and an answering machine picks up. The message says that they're closed due to an unexpected infestation.
Cliff crashes down to Earth through a billboard and lands in the ground. He vows to kill Niles, who launched him into space.
In her bedroom, Rita rehearses her role and her two lines of "My bees! as the Beekeeper in the town's community production of "Our Town". There's a knock at her door, and Rita answers it to find Micki there. Mick comes in and tells Rita that Isabel got run over by a tractor-trailer and she can't cancel the show because she'll be stuck with the rental cost of the theater. She asks Rita to take over the role of Blob Lady, and Rita readily agrees.
Micki leaves, and Rita imagines her mother Addie there, asking Rita to thank her for saving her career. Addie says that Rita wasn't Micki's first choice, and she changed her mind.
Rita wakes up from her nightmare and curses.
Larry stands in the dining room and looks out the window. Vic and Roni come in, and Roni is surprised to see Larry in his bandages for the first time. Vic introduces Roni to Larry, and asks where Niles is. Larry says Niles is in space and has no idea when he'll be back. Vic and Roni leave Larry to his window staring.
Rita continues rehearsing her two words and wearing a beekeeper outfit, comes down to the manor kitchen, and Vic invites her to try the fatatas that Miranda has made for him and Roni. Miranda is a big fan of Rita's, and she says that Jane is taking some time for herself. Rita explains that the Cloverton Beekeeper is letting her shadow them, and Miranda says that she made pancakes to tell Dorothy that everyone in the Underground wants to work thing out with the girl.
When Rita wonders where Dorothy is, Larry comes in and says that she's in space. Rita leaves and Vic tells Roni that he's never gotten used to it. A crate marked "Do Not Open" from the Eismann Museum is delivered at the front door, and a cloud of purple mist drifts out of a crack in it and infect Larry, Vic, and Roni, although Miranda is unaffected. Vic wants to open the crate, and Miranda points out the "Do Not Open" signs and suggests that they wait for Niles. Larry and Roni agree with Vic, thinking that it's a good idea to open the crate, and they ignore Miranda and open the crate. Inside is the painting that ate Danny, but Mr. Nobody and the Beard Hunter aren't in it anymore. Vic and Larry are disappointed that the villains aren't there.
Niles lands the spaceship, while Dorothy sleeps through the landing. Going outside, Niles takes his wheelchair through the snow of the Northern Yukon Territory.
Cliff tries to hitch a ride without success, and has no choice but to walk down the country highway. He curses as he goes, and keeps vowing to kill Niles. A bird craps on Cliff's head, and Cliff vows to kill it, too, before killing Niles.
Rita arrives at the Beekeeper's house with coffee, and the Beekeeper tells Rita that she doesn't need the beekeeper costume. Sitting down, Rita figures that there's more to the Beekeeper's story than her two words. The Beekeeper tells her there isn't and tells her departing daughter to give her biology teacher some honey so she doesn't flunk the class. Rita, offended, tells the Beekeeper she shouldn't use bribery to open doors for her daughter. The Beekeeper says that her daughter is dumb, and Rita insists the girl is a person. Rita gives a monologue defending the daughter, and the Beekeeper goes to get some beers.
Larry is pacing in the hallway, and Miranda asks him if everything is all right. He decides to open up to Miranda, and says that his grandson Dex is in the hospital but his family doesn't want Larry to see him because he's the reason Dex is there because of him. Miranda assures Larry that his family will understand in time and warns Larry he should give them space and shouldn't visit Dex. Larry goes to do it anyway, then asks Miranda to have her summon Flit.
Flit teleports Larry to the hospital. The nurse hits a silent alarm when she sees him, and Normalcy Bureau agents arrive immediately to arrest Larry. Flit teleports him away before they can shoot, to a nearby storage closet. Larry worries that trying to visit Dex might have been a mistake, and Flit finds some lab coats. She and Larry put them on and casually walk past the Agents, and the nurse doesn't recognize them and let them go to Dex's room. The Normalcy Agents behind them aren't fooled and train guns on them. Flit quickly teleports Larry away.
At the manor, Vic and Roni are kissing outside the lab. Vic finally says they can't do it because they came to fix her, and he'll do it himself rather than involve Silas. Miranda and Larry arrive, and Roni explains that Vic is going to perform surgery on her. Larry offers to help, and Vic figures they can because they're already dressed as doctors. They go into the lab, and Vic gets out a blowtorch and prepares to "operate" on Roni, who smiles and figures the whole thing is a good idea. Miranda asks if they're sure it's a good idea. The other three figure that it is, and Miranda points out that everyone including Flit has been acting strangely since the crate arrived. Vic agrees, tells Roni that he loves her, and they start to kiss.
Willoughby arrives, calls them all twats, and realizes that they're infected. He figures they're infected with scants and puts on a protective mask. Willoughby explains that Eismann traded the painting to Niles when it was infected with scants, and the only way to sterilize it is to kill the Scant Queen. If Willoughby doesn't, then Eismann will feed him to a zombified alicorn.
Larry wonders what scants are, and Willoughby tells them to go to the study to play Niles' old training film on scants, and wait until he gets back. The film explains that scants are pink humanoids that are similar to bees, and the drones serve their Queen. Scants place bad ideas in people's brains, and when they accept the bad idea the brains produce idiot, a pink substance that secretes from the infected person's ears. Only scants can see idiot, and they harvest it, refine it into uma jelly, and feed it to the Queen and it gives her extraordinary powers. The only way to kill a scant infestation is to kill the Queen. Becoming infected means the bad ideas compound and lead to death,
Miranda figures that Larry, Vic, and Roni are infected with scants. Vic figures now Willoughby can kill the Queen, and Larry agrees. Miranda applauds their heroic spirit but says they should sit it out. Vic tells her that she's great and the others agree, and Vic tells Miranda that they'll need more of a can-do attitude from her. She agrees that they'll do it, but says that they should come up with a plan before going into the painting. When Miranda turns her back, the others go into the painting sitting nearby.
In the Yukon, Niles treks through the wilderness, enters the forest, and hears something growling in the trees around him. He finally clutches at his ears in pain.
Cliff enters the forest, planning revenge against Niles for ejecting him into space, and comes to a truck depot. His legs lock up, and Cliff can't get them to move.
Rita and the Beekeeper drink bees, and Rita talks about seeing her mother having sex with the producer. The Beekeeper suggests that Rita is suffering from a case of imposter syndrome, and Rita agrees but wonders how to get past it. Her drinking companion suggests that she see it through Addie's eyes, and says that mothers aren't superhuman even though their children expect them to be.
Beekeeper says that a mother can love a child, but doesn't know how to express that love. She suggests that Addie "boffed" the producer out of love, and suggests Rita give her a call and tell her how she feels. Rita points out that Addie has been dead for ages, going peacefully in her sleep. The Beekeeper suggests that she find a surrogate to yell at, like her bees, and she does it all the time to stop blowing up at her daughter.
The trio trek through the white void inside the painting, and Miranda finds and joins them. She points out that they're infected with bad ideas and any urges they have are probably not good. They come to Edward, who has stripped to his underwear and painted the front half of his body white to blend in with the white void. Edward explains that Nobody got a gig doing an animated voice on another show and left. He says that he's been hunted by drone scants, and figures he's not infected with scants even though he only painted half his body.
Scants march past, and Edward has the group hide behind him. Larry steps out and calls to them, but isn't sure how to introduce himself. Vic steps out and says that they're a ragtag group of superheroes that plan to kill their queen, and asks if they can follow the scants to their hive. The scants draw weapons and herd the group to the hive, but fail to see Edward.
Cliff still can't move, and a douche guy drives up and stops. He's impressed with the "talking statue", and takes a selfie with Cliff. Cliff asks to use his phone, and the guy agrees as long as Cliff does a shout-out to his friend. Cliff finally does it, and once he gets the phone he calls the manor but no one answers because no one is there except the sex ghosts. The guy refuses to let him make a second call unless he does a second shout-out. Once Cliff does so, he calls Salty's Bar to get hold of Clara. Cliff gets the answering machine and leaves a message telling Clara that she had a chance to have Cliff in her life but she threw it away. Now Cliff will die on the side of the road, and figures that he's just a piece of trash. Cliff realizes that it came out bad, but the answering machine recording ends before he can correct it.
The guy sympathizes with Cliff but refuses to give him another call. When he walks back to his ca, Cliff tries to go after him and falls. Once the guy drives away, Cliff realizes his legs are working again and gets up on his own, figures he has one more chance, and walks off.
Rita goes to the Beekeeper's beehives and yells at them, expressing her anger at Addie about how far she got without Addie. Rita wonders how she's supposed to fix something inside of her that Addie broke, doesn't get catharsis, and walks off.
As night falls, Niles starts a fire and calls to Slava, but gets no response. He says that he needs to speak to her about their daughter, Dorothy. He fears that he has to protect the world from Dorothy because she's dangerous beyond measure. Niles says that he's tried everything and now he has to do something awful, and asks Slava to show him a better way if she knows one.
Candlemaker appears in the flames and says that Slava can't hear Niles. Dorothy belongs with Candlemaker now, and soon Niles will join Slava and Candlemaker endures. He says that he was there before Niles, and will be there long after Niles is gone. Candlemaker advances on Niles and says that he's a fool. Slava gave birth to him as well as Dorothy, and her ancestors created Candlemaker.
Niles snaps out of his dream and wonders what Candlemaker meant about how Slava's people "cursed" Dorothy with Candlemaker. He yells asking how Slava could have done it to their daughter.
The drones take the group to the Queen's tent and hook them up to drain the idiot from them. Willoughby arrives but has lost his mask and is infected with scants. He figures that once he kills the Queen, he'll share his plan to kill her. The Queen is laying on her water bed, welcomes them, gets up, and explains that the machine is draining idiot from their brains and converting it to uma jelly. She drinks some of what has been extracted so far and levitates, and says that once they've extracted the idiot, they will all die.
Rita goes into Cloverton and sees a mugger in an alleyway, robbing a college kid. She puts on her beekeeper's hood, stretches one arm out and knocks out the mugger.
The Queen says that she feels amazing because of the potent jelly, and figures that her prisoners have some really terrible ideas. She says that Vic and Roni are each other's worse ideas, and tells the Negative that her worst idea is thinking she can stay when she doesn't belong. The Queen then tells Willoughby that Baphomet will never love her, then realizes that Miranda is immune to the scantification. She figures there's a bad idea in Miranda, perhaps the worst of all times, and all she needs to do is squeeze it out.
Silver Tongue manifests and pierces the water bed. When the Queen and the drones run over to stop the leaks, Lucy Fugue manifests and fires bolt of electricity into the water, killing the Queen in a big explosion of pink goo. Miranda takes over and asks if they should go home.
Later back at the manor, Vic tells Roni that the Queen was wrong. He says that if they want to have a relationship, they should just do it. Roni wonders if Vic meant it when he said he loved her earlier, then laughs and admits that she's fucking with him. They both share a laugh and kiss. Roni says she has to go and Vic tells her that he's going to wait for Niles. He asks Roni to call him later, and she says that they'll see before leaving. As she goes, Roni looks at a bottle of uma jelly that she secretly took.
Larry goes to the hospital and discovers that Dex is gone. An attending nurse comes in and says that Dex trained out that afternoon. She can't tell Larry anything specific, but assures him that they released Dex when he was in good condition. Once the nurse leaves, Larry sits on the bed.
Cliff finally returns to the manor and finds Clara waiting for him. She says that Vic let her in, and she got a tape from Cliff in the mail. On it, Niles confessed what he did to Cliff.
Miranda returns to the Underground and everyone greets Miranda. The Secretary tells Jane that Miranda doesn't pout, and Pretty Polly tells Jane that Scarlet Harlot didn't show up at book club. Once Polly leaves, Jane goes to Scarlet's station. The station is closed, and Jane doesn't know why.
Willoughby goes to a phone booth and leaves a brief blood love note to Baphomet. Niles summons Willoughby to the Yukon, and asks him to "take care" of Dorothy after one more day. Willoughby agrees, and tells Niles that he doesn't have to worry about what he'll do with Dorothy. He says that he'll make sure it's done and leaves.
