It was another down night for the broadcast networks on Wednesday.
Starting things off for NBC was Chicago Med.
The beloved drama had 6.8 million total viewers and a 0.7 rating in the demo -- slipping 30% in the latter vs. its last original.
This marks a series low in the demo.
Chicago Fire (7.2 million/0.8 rating) was down two-tenths, but Chicago Pd (6.1 million/0.8 rating) held steady week-to-week.
Over on Fox, The Masked Singer (4.8 million/1.1 rating) dipped two-tenths vs. last week's season premiere.
The series is slowly losing ground in the ratings, but it still topped the night in the demo.
Game of Talents (2.7 million/0.7 rating) was down in total viewers but steady as a rock in the demo.
The CW's Riverdale (0.5 million/0.1 rating) and Nancy Drew (0.4 million/0.1 rating) both lost ground in total viewers but were steady in the demo.

The traditional broadcast Fall TV season, which is anything but traditional due to the coronavirus, is well underway.
Seeing as execs at Fox, CBS, ABC, NBC and The CW spent a good chunk of their summers working out the logistics of how to safely resume production on their new and returning scripted and unscripted primetime series amid the pandemic, Fall TV premiere dates weren’t announced as quickly as they usually are and many shows that would have been set for autumn starts had to be pushed to midseason.
But there are still plenty of programs headed to broadcast TV in the coming weeks and TheWrap has rounded up the debut dates for each of them below. We will continue to update this list as more become available.
Monday, Sept. 21
8 p.m. — “L.A’s Finest”
9 p.m. — “Filthy Rich”
10 p.m. — “Manhunt: Deadly Games”

“The Goldbergs” returned for season 8 on Wednesday a little later than usual due to Covid-19, and to lower ratings than usual.
One could chalk this up to declining viewing habits during the pandemic, but the ABC comedy dipped around 20% from the previous season premiere, managing a 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 and 4.1 million total viewers. While those figures don’t quite represent a series low, they are down on last season’s 0.9 average Live+Same Day rating and 4.2 million average viewership.
Later on, “The Conners” also neared a series low, with its season 3 premiere scoring a 0.9 rating and 4.8 million viewers. That was followed by “Black-ish” which scored its smallest premiere rating do date, coming in at a 0.6 and just over 3 million pairs of eyeballs. “The Con” scored a 0.5 rating and 2.7 million viewers for the Disney-owned network.

The 2020 Billboard Music Awards saw Post Malone emerged with a whopping nine total trophies, however, the show itself wasn’t quite as successful in the ratings department.
A total of around 3.6 million total viewers tuned in on NBC, which looks to be a substantial 55% dip from the previous edition. Its 0.8 rating among adults 18-49 was only enough for fourth place on the night, and also represents a new all-time low for the music show.
However, those historically small numbers aren’t really all that surprising given that awards shows are tumbling almost across the board of late. For instance, earlier this year the Oscars fell 20%, the Emmys around 9% and the ACM Awards over 30%. It’s also worth noting that due to Covid-19, the Billboard Music Awards were shifted by more than five months from their traditional May broadcast date, which likely played some part in contributing to drastic fall.

The 32nd season of The Amazing Race premiered on CBS last night and, well, it stumbled out of the blocks. The global reality competition took a dive from last the last season opener delivering a 0.7 in the adults 18-49 demographic and 3.43 million viewers. The latest episode of Big Brother preceded the new season earning a 1.0 in the demo and 4.10 million viewers, holding steady with last — but it seems as though The Amazing Race wasn’t able to benefit from those numbers.
At NBC, the Billboard Music Awards went flat compared to last year’s telecast, delivering a 0.8 in the demo and 3.57 million viewers.
It was, as Ken Jeong lovingly refers to it, “Kensday” at Fox because the actor holds court in both unscripted series in the network’s Wednesday night lineup. The Masked Singer climbed in numbers from last week, topped the night with a 1.6 in the demo and 6.14 million viewers.
