MAY THE FOURTH BE WITH YOU!!

Warning: Spoilers
I didn't think the first 10 minutes would make me cry. But seeing Caleb Dume aka Kanan Jarrus as a Padawan during Order 66 made me tear up. This episode is the perfect start to a brand new story in the Star Wars Universe.

Finally this gap in the timeline is getting filled!

Woah, what a way to kick off a series. The beginning of this episode was on the same level as the final arc of TCW in terms of excitement. Honestly I have nothing to complain about, this is even better than what I hoped for. Thank you Dave Filoni and everyone else that made this happen! Easily a 10/10, Star Wars is back on track!

Was there ever any doubt?

Warning: Spoilers
Filoni has done it again. I know everyone was hoping that The Bad Batch was essentially going to be Clone Wars season 8 and it basically is, they can't call it that because the Clone Wars are over but this show very much retains the heart and feel that made CW so beloved and special. I absolutely adored every minute of this hefty feature length episode. I had my suspicions about Crosshair's loyalty as well as Omega's origins; both ended up being well founded but it didn't take the surprise or the sting out of those moments. If 'The Bad Batch' continues down this path, it will cement itself comfortably alongside or perhaps even above The Clone Wars as one of the best pieces of Star Wars media you can find. A light to decent 9/10.

Amazing start to the series that pulls you in right from the start, and never lets go! The Bad batch are also more likeable, than in their Clone wars debute, and i have no doubt that they can carry this show do to their unique personalities! If u liked the Clone wars or just star wars in general, you will enjoy this episode!

Now THIS is Star Wars
Nagitokomeda4 May 2021
Hot off the heels of the incredible Mandalorian and the masterclass Clone Wars season 7, Filoni does it again. Filoni is an auteur of this generation; someone who brings their visions of grandeur to life in the best way possible. The Bad Batch begins with a bang and the thrills never stop, leasing to an ending that makes me want to watch the next episodes right now. The Bad Batch themselves are a crew of scrappy earners. When I tell my grandkids about the defining moments of my life, this episode will be up there with the Mandalorian season 2 finale. Bravo Filoni, what a great human being.

GREAT START TO A VERY EXCITING SERIES!!!
starryhester4 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Wow - just wow. The opening shots of this new series is very climatic, and we finally get to see what led to the death of Jedi Master Depa Billaba, and why Caleb (Kanan) was very distrustful of the clones (as seen in S2 of Rebels). Seeing the different perspectives of Order 66 in Revenge of the Sith, Clone Wars w/ Ahsoka, and now Bad Batch w/ Caleb gives us such different perspectives on how chaotic it was.

Excited for the next few episodes! Dave Filoni has outdone himself - again.

Star Wars Animated universe is back with a bang!
ha77y73ad974 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Firstly I just want to add that Rebels proved that the Clone Wars was ahead of its time. Not just in story telling but in animation style, no wonder why they went back to this style in season 7 and for the Bad Batch.

With Disney creating a marvel style opening credits just proves their commitment to Star Wars, from the Mandalorian to the Bad Batch this has changed to Clone Wars and Birth of the Empire characters was slick to start this story off. As always the voice of Tom Kane's holo-news bulletin to drop everyone into the action is prefect. Such an opening exchange between a young Caleb Dune and his master just before order 66 is another marvel in how Lucasfilm Animation is tying all of the active threads together during this time. Would love to see a story for each of the Jedi just like Ashoka, Kenobi, Yoda and all of the other Jedi that have been allowed their final moments.

As for the rest of the story is is a great continuation of their characters and training under the new galactic empire. As was speculated this first episode opens up the story of the crew being on the run from the empire due to not completing order 66.

For the timeframe across this story, there maybe one significant beginning to a story involving a small green 24 year old (as hes seen as a 50 year old if working out the BBY date.) Could the Bad Batch be the team to get Grogu off of Coruscant?

Star Wars in Safe Hands
Gazzamm4 May 2021
Dave Filoni once again proves Star Wars is in safe hands.

Continuing the stories from The Clone Wars, this first episode lived up to my expectations fantastically.

No spoilers, no commentary, just a good, old fashioned standing ovation from me.

This is for deep Star Wars fan, way too confusing and hard to follow for the regular fans that don't know much about that experimental squad.

Obvious
ComradWinston11 May 2021
Everything about this episode is nothing but agonizingly transparent. Setting-up the protagonists as the 'goodguys' could hardly be more forced, where motivations and the like could have been developed over the span of a season with care. Instead they ham-fisted it in the span of about an hour so they can pump-out easy 'goodguy' episodes.

Wasted potential.

Aftermath
lassegalsgaard4 May 2021
When the long-awaited seventh season of "Star Wars: The Clone Wars" rolled around, it was kicked off with a four-episode arc about this interesting group: Clone Force 99, perhaps better known as "the Bad Batch." In a great final outing for the show, this group definitely stood out as a highlight, which prompted Lucasfilm to give Dave Filoni a chance to continue their story, this time in the form of a new show dedicated to the group. Now, on May the 4th, the first episode has been released, and if it's the indication of anything, we're definitely in for a great ride with this one

Off the bat, the show took my expectations and completely annihilated them. I didn't know that I would be in for an emotional ride from the first scene, but they start out in big fashion, with a great character appearance that I definitely didn't expect but enjoyed very much. They've definitely taken certainly liberties with the canon that's been established so far, but when it's done to effect results like this, I don't really mind it. After that, we get a great insight into the Empire's thinking when it came to discontinuing the production of the clone troopers, and Filoni continues to evolve on the politics that George Lucas developed in his films. The action is energetic and visually stunning. I'm glad they decided to go with the animation style they used for the seventh season of "Clone Wars," because it's truly the most fluent it's ever been and give birth to some of the most exciting action sequences. It's a classic action narrative and very much in vain of the other shows Filoni has been involved with, in its great storytelling. It's still early on, so I can't say that I'm all that into the storyline as it has yet to be fully set up, but as a start to a show, this episode gave me everything that I could have ever wanted. These guys are so awesome, and the fact that I get to follow along on their adventures for the next many months, is very exciting. "Star Wars" is back in style!

"Aftermath" was a great start to the show, and it set the seeds for things to come. A lot of tension will surely come to an explosive climax at some point in the show, and I'm fully invested in following along on this adventure and don't doubt that it will lead to many great places.

Combines the best of rebels and clone wars
BarthFelix4 May 2021
This series combines the dark story telling and animation style of clone wars with the feeling of adventure and unknown future, that rebels had. Brilliant premiere and I am looking forward to watch more.

Dave Filoni delivers once again.

Warning: Spoilers
Amazing! This premier was perfect. I love how they added in Order 66 the way they did with Kanan and his Master, they did it great showing how his master was killed and what lead Kanan to becoming Kanan in Rebels. I also liked that they showed Palatine's senate speech from Revenge of the Sith with all the Clones (Who are working for the Empire due to their inhibitor chips). Also, we got to see Saw Gerrera again, and Crosshairs change to the Empires side was very dark and cool. Great episode all around.

Fantastic debut, pilot episode.
joshcowham4 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I grew up watching the Clone Wars and it was an integral part of my childhood. Thank you Dave Filoni for continuing the story, through the means of the Bad Batch and Omega. Episode One was a masterpiece. The cinematography was gorgeous - especially the Hunter vs Crosshair hanger stand off, Caleb's jump scene, and Order 66. I was worried that Omega was included in the story to tick Disney boxes, however, she is so interesting and I genuinely feel sorry for her for not fitting in with the Regs. That's good writing for you , so immersive! The story was well worked and intriguing. I can't wait for episode 2 on Friday! Nothing beats sitting down with Dad to watch Star Wars, just like I did as a 6 year old when the Clone Wars was released every Sunday Morning on Cartoon Network.

Summary: Watch it two times! Amazing. Brings back the old times.

I love how they got the old Clone Wars narrator back, it's little things like that that make for a great show. Filoni is a genius no doubt about it, the whole more than an hour long episode was captivating start to finish. Bravo!

Good, but not without issues
alexanderenglund5 May 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I will mainly be covering what I really enjoyed and what I didn't enjoy in the episode.

The episode starts off in an uncreative way, the issue I have with it was that they brought back Caleb Dume (Kanan Jarrus) instead of exploring something new. In order to fix this issue I would've instead brought in a jedi who we don't yet have a definitive fate for, that would actually then make us worried for the jedi and make us unsure of what their fate will be. With Caleb that can not happen. The same issue is also there in a later scene where they come across Saw Gerrera who we know survives.

My favorite parts of the episode were the introduction of Omega and the cameo of AZI-3, the medical droid on Kamino. A female clone (although perhaps a little illogical) is a very interesting addition and I believe she's the one who will have the most character growth in the entire series. And finally AZI-3, the lovable droid who helped Fives discover Order 66. His cameo is pretty big during the episode but also seems pretty limited to this episode.

Tarkin was a great antagonist for the episode and I also look forward to seeing Crosshair as the main antagonist for the show.

The animation for the show is also great and so is the main theme for The Bad Batch which is already very memorable.

Another big issue I had was that some of the characters were very in the background or just straight out bad. I specifically had a problem with Echo and Wrecker during the episode. Echo is a good character but he just didn't have much to do or say during the episode, this is obviously fixable in future episodes and I trust they had a reason to bring him into the squad. I also find the decision to bring Echo into battle despite looking like a walking corpse a bit weird, I believe there should've been a larger time jump between the CW Bad Batch arc and Order 66 and a change of Echo's design during that time.

My final and biggest concern of the series is Wrecker. A very uninspired, uninteresting character. He's just there to be strong, dumb and comical.

Wrecker doesn't make any sense either, who let him go on a mission in the first place? He just blows things up and loves blowing things up for the sake of it. That, on paper doesn't sound very interesting and nor is it when put in play.

Overall it's a good opener but it has a bunch of flaws which I hope will be fixed in later episodes, 7.6/10.

Good but not revolutionary
casperenkelaar9 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Although this was definitely a good first episode I can't help but feel there was a lot more potential. We had star wars rebels in which we followed a group of rebels and I was looking forward to following an imperial group this time. Unfortunately they use this 70 minute long first episode to turn them into rebels so the rest of the series can focus on them being the good guys. It feels a little bit forced and I would have loved to actually see the republic slowly transform into the empire from an insider perspective. Despite this there is potential and I look forward to the rest of the series.

Um, hello? Casting director? Anyone home?
austinrobinson198013 May 2021
Look. I got nothing against Freddie Prinze Jr. But come on... a bit old for the part of the young Palawan boy, don't ya think? That's really the only complaint I got. But a production is only as strong as its weakest link. It wasn't even close. It stuck out horribly and immediately. I was like, he's awful young to have gone through that much puberty. And it ruined the entire episode. Get real, dude! Or please find another job. You're making a mess.

Was this episode 70 minutes long?

Every single minute of the episode was worth it. An emotional start with an ending that will leave the viewer curious for what will happen to the bad batch. Didn't even feel like the episode was 70 min long.
