Variations of a same theme: humans and their characteristics
This short was the chosen one, among 70 others, as part of a special project on Human Rights issue and how it can perceived by its filmmakers.
Marcelo Taranto made this one revolving on the uniqueness of each living invidivual and establishing a comparison with numbers (from 9 to 0). Meaning that alone each number has a particular significance or little, but together they can form countless possibilities and heighten the human experience, form a higher value. As actor Jaime Leibowitz narrates the thoughts, Leonardo da Vinci's famous anatomy drawing is presented with the uniqueness of a man and his many physical movements.
The films were comissioned to have a minute long which is one of those things hard to categorize and analyse in a profound manner. Since the other films weren't made available to us, this one is what we have to comment. I can only say that for the 1 minute challenge it was quite well conceived in the matters of idea, it has this intriguing title which gets easily explained as you watch the short, and it creates some valid thinking about mankind and how each individual is important despite differences. It doesn't stretch itself through examples outside of the number comparison but one can reach to different conclusions. Totally fine. 6/10.
