Hermann Göring suffered from one long-term morphine addiction and the extensive psychiatric treatment he received at three Swedish hospitals. At the beginning of August 1925, he was admitted to Aspudden's nursing home, Stockholm, for detoxification after a violent relapse. In the journal you can read: "Morphineist since the autumn of 1923, has been up to 70-75 cgm, tried false recipes, but was exposed; eucodal up to 30 ampoules to replace morphine. Broke up the medicine cabinet and took eucodal himself ... furious, threatened with sword (sword stick), must be overpowered; according to. the doctor "extremely dangerous and unreliable." Göring became violent and six attendants could not stop him. He was moved to Katarina Hospital, Stockholm, on September 1, where he "becomes anxious, offended, protests against detention, intends to call a lawyer, speaks for himself, threatens men. staff." He is then moved to Långbro Hospital, Stockholm, on September 2, where he completely collapses, tries to take his own life and is declared psychotic.
