good

Warning: Spoilers
When I heard that the Disney Mulan 2020 was brought out on Disney+, I googled for info, but then stumbled upon this little gem.

Though not as gripping as the 2009 live-action Mulan with Zhao Wei, this one is still a pretty entertaining movie and the fight scenes are good (plus it has a few nice comedy moments scattered in-between). The only real minus points I can find are the rat scene (in which the CGI was a little jarring); the last battle scene in which the two last standing hadn't eaten for 15 days yet could still fight off a full army like superman was a little too unrealistic; and the very last scene in which the coward encountered wolves, which I thought a little unnecessary to add.

Much better than DIsney´s.

I´m not gonna call this movie perfect because it´s not. It does have plotholes and some cheesy scenes but still, the acting, setting, characters and the story are so much better than Disney´s. I would definitely watch it again unlike Disney Mulan which was dull and boring throughout the whole thing.

Incoherent and Jumbled Piece of Mess

A boring movie where you don't care for anything that happens. The characters are half-baked caricatures, who are goofy at one point and extremely emotional at the other. Complete and abrupt shift of events without warning, and the irritating music at every minute numbs your sense down to 0. Nothing is felt, nothing is remembered. Even the plot is so half-baked with out any innovative plotting, that removed all life from the proceedings. I couldn't care one bit about Mulan, as her motivations were subservient and stoic. One moment she wants to not kill anyone, the next moment she's slicing off throats. A disappointing piece of trash.

Good low cost Mulan movie
alexshi7721 September 2020
Normally I might give a 6 for such a movie, but I gave 8 this time as it is better than Disney's, though made with a much much smaller budget. With a good budget, this movie could have some grand settings. Disney doesn't understand Chinese culture and history, but they have money to squander and have strong advertising capability. With these, they still can get a good box office income from rubbish movies. This one has Chinese savor.

Budget friendly Mulan movie, so do not expect more.

When it comes to ancient war based movies, It is more requisite to give the audience a brief history about the topic, so the global viewers can also get the backstory and understand the geopolitical threats and mistakes of that era, you can easily do that using strategic ancient looking maps and graphics to deepen the seriousness about the topic, but this just another low budget Mulan movie, failed to portray all that richness. The movie was more of a random brief, Mulan somehow impersonated as a Man and the storyline was in a hurry to put her in the battlefield which sets in a village somewhere in central China, in a small village of the northern Han empire invaded and challenged by the Mongols from Rouran Empire, and they kidnapped someone very dear to the Emperor, now objective of our Mulan has been updated to bring back and revenge the cruel Emperor of the antagonists!

The End.

Mulan is romanticized (spoilers kinda)
linkpopper17 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is basically a romanticized version of Mulan. That's not a bad thing, I gave a 10/10 because i like romanticization of history a lot, similar to Romance of the Three Kingdoms novel and its adaptations in form of movies, games etc.

Slight spoilers below __________________________________________________________________

It is cleared stated that it is romanticized by using "Matchless/Unparalleled" in the title, and since it was stated, its fine that Mulan was better. She was initially better, but its not like her male counterparts were bad, they got their training, and became her equal.

Referring to my comparison to Romance of the Three Kingdoms, this mulan is not like the normal mulan, like how Lu Bu was not a one man army in history.
