Eminem is producing Stans, from director Steven Leckart, about just how intense fans can get: more here.
It took me a little while to work out that the idea of ‘standom’ – a particularly fanatical kind of fandom – emanated from the Eminem song ‘Stan’ from the year 2000. I wouldn’t mind, I bought the sodding single as well.
Anyway. Eminem is returning to the world of Stans with a documentary feature film that his company is backing. Cunningly, said documentary will be going by the name of Stans, and Eminem is listed amongst the co-producers of the project.
He’s not the director though, so let’s have a paragraph or two on him. Steven Leckart is the person in question, and he’s previously directed Challenger: The Final Flight. He also co-wrote the TV series Legacy: The True Story Of The LA Lakers, which hasn’t made it to these shores.

Spoiler Alert: The story includes details about “The Challenger”, the premiere of This Is Us’ sixth and final season on NBC.
NBC’s flagship drama series This Is Us returned tonight for its sixth and final season. Per This Is Us tradition, the season premiere marks the Big 3’s birthday but their 41st birthday celebration was mixed with flashbacks to the way they marked the occasion in the pilot five years ago — Kevin sharing with models that the Challenger disaster may have thrust his life on the wrong path, Randall tracking down his birth father and Kate struggling with her weight.
The premiere’s past storyline was set on the January 1986 day of the Challenger explosion and explored the impact the tragedy had on Kevin, Randall and Kate — then about six-years-old.

It’s never too early to relive one of the few comical moments from the final, chaotic months of the Trump presidency.
“Four Seasons Total Documentary,” a film centering around Rudy Giuliani’s botched attempt to contest the 2020 election results, is airing on MSNBC on Nov. 7 — exactly one year after the infamous debacle.
The documentary is less about the then-president’s lawyer accidentally booking a press conference outside a local landscaping company instead of the lavish Four Seasons Hotel, and instead focuses on a small business in Philadelphia that was unexpectedly thrust into the national spotlight when it agreed to host a political event in the middle of the presidential election.
MSNBC Films acquired rights to “Four Seasons Total Documentary” as part of the cable news channel’s attempt to bolster its presence in the documentary space. MSNBC Films is a new unit from the NBCUniversal-backed outlet that will...

The world of UFOs has been ignited by a recent report that the U.S. government is taking the phenomenon seriously. Now, J.J. Abrams is getting in on the act and is exec producing a four-part documentary series on our fascination with unidentified flying objects for Showtime.
The ViacomCBS premium cable network will premiere UFO on August 8. It will drop all four episodes at midnight ahead of its linear TX at 9pm.
The series will look at what clandestine influence the American government, lucrative private companies and the military may have in shielding the truth behind extraterrestrial phenomena to further their own agendas.
It comes after reporting from the New York Times in 2017 and the New Yorker more recently, which highlighted how the Pentagon began taking the existence of UFOs seriously after footage emerged that navy pilots had been seeing unidentified objects in the sky.

Exclusive: Apple is to launch a podcast about pop culture icons Siegfried & Roy – marking one of its first major forays into original audio series.
The series has landed at Apple TV+, its television and film division, and will launch on the Apple podcast platform.
It comes at a time where competition is becoming more prevalent in the podcast business with major rival Spotify getting heavily into originals that only live on its platform.
Apple has cautiously dipped its toes into original shows in the past but they have largely been focused around its music platform – The Zane Lowe Podcast Series – or its original television shows such as For All Mankind.
Earlier this month, it unveiled The Line from Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions, which will feature an original podcast series and a TV docuseries. The Siegfried & Roy series marks the first major show to come without an immediate television companion.

One of the first credits in the documentary “Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry” is “An Interscope Films Production,” which isn’t the most encouraging opening. When the company that manages an artist and releases their music is also behind a film about that artist, you expect lots of access but perhaps not so much objectivity.
Then again, it’s pretty much guaranteed that most music-oriented docs these days have ties to the artists’ business interests — and besides, Billie Eilish is not the kind of musician who seems inclined to be looking for an airbrushed vanity piece. The music she’s been making since she was 13 constitutes her own authorized portrait of sorts, and it’s a portrait that is raw and unkempt and human; if the point of her music is to capture a young life in all its messiness, uncertainty and pain, the company that releases that...

The film called “Four Seasons Total Documentary” is directed by Christopher Stoudt (“Camp Alec”) and will document the ensuing roller coaster of media and public attention one well-meaning small business in Philly (the one that’s nearby a crematorium and a sex shop) went through when they agreed to host the bizarre Trump-related press conference on November 7, four days after the presidential election.
The documentary will also feature interviews with some of the key executives at the company, including owner Marie Siravo and director of sales Sean Middleton as they explain what they were thinking leading up to the press conference. The film intends to be apolitical and have a feel-good tone.

Director Christopher Stoudt is making a documentary about Four Seasons Total Landscaping, a small business in Philadelphia that was unexpectedly thrust into the national spotlight after Trump’s attorney Rudy Giuliani accidentally hosted a press conference outside the company’s garage door instead of the Four Seasons Hotel.

The Challenger space shuttle explosion in 1986 was one of America’s most visceral tragedies. In real time, millions of Americans, including school children across the country, witnessed the shuttle disintegrate from a solid rocket booster failure, claiming the lives of all seven astronauts on board. The mission was of particular national interest because a high school teacher named Christa McAulife was selected to become the first private citizen in space, leading to increased media attention and fanfare.
Countless shows, documentaries, and books have covered all angles of the NASA mission gone horribly awry. Netflix’s new documentary series, Challenger: The Final Flight, stands out by telling the human stories behind the accident, including first-hand accounts from the decision makers at NASA and the astronauts’ families whose lives were changed irrevocably on the morning of January 28, 1986.

When the Challenger space shuttle exploded 73 seconds after its launch in January 1986, killing all seven crew members on board, Daniel Junge and Steven Leckart were school-aged kids watching it all happen on television. Now they are the directors of Netflix’s four-part “Challenger: The Final Flight” docuseries, and they hope the lessons learned from that tragic mission will resonate with American audiences amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“This was our Kennedy moment; this was our 9/11 moment,” Junge told TheWrap.
If there’s one thing to be gleaned from the fatal NASA space shuttle mission, its that listening to scientific data can sometimes be the difference between life and death.
“It does feel like the right message now, just in terms of the value of science and the value of teachers, which is really important right now and will hopefully resonate,” Junge said. “And also, no matter how you feel about Reagan,...

The way I remember it, I didn’t watch the Challenger disaster live. My third grade teacher had had a TV wheeled into the classroom the previous day, but when that launch was scrubbed, she decided not to bother the next morning, much to the class’ chagrin. It was only at lunchtime that we began to hear rumors about the tragedy that unfolded. Even in the absence of that specific memory, January 28, 1986, is burnt into my brain as it is for most people of my generation. It was our televised loss of innocence, a shared trauma in its ...

If America’s modern space age began in the 1960s, it hit a wall in 1986 with the Challenger disaster, when the U.S. space shuttle by that name exploded during takeoff, killing all seven crew members aboard. The element that took this from sorrowful and tragic error to generation-defining news event was the presence onboard of Christa McAuliffe, a civilian schoolteacher specifically chosen for the mission in order to catalyze student interest in America’s quest for the stars. Those students drawn to watching the launch by the promise of a relatable figure to take them along were confronted with live-television tragedy when O-ring seals failed in unusually cold weather; space exploration may have continued, but some innocence or optimism was lost.
The case made by “Challenger: The Final Flight,” a new four-episode documentary series on Netflix produced by J.J. Abrams and Glen Zipper, is that this didn’t need to happen.
