One of 2008's worst shows on ABS-CBN

Warning: Spoilers
When Maging Sino Ka Man Book 2 was over, I was eager to see what Anne Curtis would do next. She was phenomenal as Celine Magsaysay in MSKM Book 1 and book 2, even though it failed to capture the drama from the first book. Then I heard that Anne was to do a fantaserye directed by Wenn Deramas, I knew it was going to be a horrible idea. Filipinos have failed miserably in the special effects department, thanks to the limited budget and resources.

I heard at first that she was going to be paired with then boyfriend, Sam Milby, also from MSKM. That got me excited but then ABS CBN announced that two more leading men were to be added, Luis Manzano and Zanjoe Marudo. It was bad enough that super corny Wenn Deramas was going to direct the show but 3 leading men? This show was doomed to fail. If you've seen Anne and Wenn's first show working together, Kampanerang Kuba, you'll see why.

I thought, okay maybe the story will make up for the bad choice of a director. And yes, the story was about a girl who was born to be "the one" or "Takda" to rule all of Kabanwa, the world of the gods and goddesses, but was forced to live in the mortal world due to some drama between Sinukuan, the mother, Barnardo Carpio, the father, and Tadaklan, the king of Kasamyan, the "evil" world, who was arranged to marry Sinukuan. The story mainly revolves around Josephine and how she deals with her true destiny as the chosen one.

Philippine mythology is very rich and has never been really told, especially on mainstream TV. That's why I had high expectations for this show, thinking about all the possibilities the story could go. Unfortunately, it went the really really bad way. The story has SOOO many plot holes and inconsistencies. Not only that but the characters are mostly one dimensional, all the villains are evil and all the good characters are martyrs. Although there are some characters that have development, most of them fail miserably, not to mention they are most of the time extremely annoying.

I realized that this show was targeted to kids. I'd have to say they'd have to pretty stupid kids because this show assumes the audience, whether children or adults, are retarded. There are so many things that don't make sense in the story, not only that but the director keeps adding pointless characters to keep dragging the story, for example, Ogie Diaz and ultimate Deramas favorite, DJ Durano. I'm half and half surprised that Dyosa is ABS-CBN's highest rated show. I'm half surprised that it's highly rated because it's a pretty dumb show. I'm half not surprised because, no offense, it's targeted to kids from provinces, who sometimes lack education.

The only thing I can do is sigh and wait for this show to end. It just saddens me that an actress of such caliber in this generation, would waste her talents on a measly show like Dyosa. There's no doubt that she is a goddess, classy and beautiful. But the actual show, Dyosa, does NOT deserve Anne's talent.

Don't bother wasting your time watching this show, unless you want to pull your hair out and scream.
