As Discovery and WarnerMedia are set to close their 43B merger later this week, the attention has been focused mainly on the deal’s ramifications for WarnerMedia’s movie and scripted television businesses. There’s been much industry chatter about the importance of Casey Bloys’ scripted television empire and whether Toby Emmerich continues to oversee The Batman film studio.
The pair, alongside Warner Bros. TV boss Channing Dungey, are expected to report directly to David Zaslav under the company’s new structure, which is set to be unveiled shortly.
However, as high-profile these areas are, they also are additive to Discovery’s business, which is only peripherally involved in scripted TV via the company’s venture with Oprah Winfrey OWN. Meanwhile, it is unscripted television where the two merging companies have the biggest overlap and where combining the assets will require consolidation.

It's the finals, and All the stops are being pulled as these competitors are out to prove who can Go-big best.
TBS's Go-Big Show Season 2 has shown us extreme talents from all over the spectrum of wide and crazy.
In these exclusive sneak peek clips, TV Fanatic brings you the showcase performances of two incredible death-defying acts, Professor Splash Darren Taylor and world-renowned bull jumper Manu Lataste.
Don't quote me on it but Professor Splash is probably the oldest competitor on the Go-Big Show, turning 61 this year.
Known for high dives into small pools, he has been setting world records for over a decade, breaking his own record on America's Got Talent Season 6 in 2011.
For his final act on the Go-Big Show, Professor Splash "goes smaller to go bigger" by belly-flopping into ten inches of water from a diving board height of twenty-six feet, six inches.
The judges are understandably apprehensive.

One last round of semi-finals. Another chance to be stupefied by the extreme lengths people will go to "Go-Big" on TBS's talent show.
This week's crop of contestants looks to be the most mind-blowing yet.
TV Fanatic is excited to bring you exclusive clips of three of the six semi-finalists looking to secure their spot in the finals.
First up, we have the return of our knife-flinging, mind-reading magician, Andrew Lee.
Last time around, he had T-Pain up on the stage to choose a card from a deck of cards only to use a flying dagger to pick the card out of the air, pinning it to a chopping block hung around T-Pain's neck.
The surprisingly high-pitched squealing judge has Not forgotten the experience.
Listen for him dropping a comment about that as Lee prepares to wow them with his semi-final round act, a magical escape from a box...

Jaws dropped, records broken, deaths defied, fires lit, nuts kicked. Season 2 of TBS’s Go-Big Show features an eclectic mix of unique acts. The head-to-head competition heats up on the extreme competition series with the semi-finals kicking off. For judge and executive producer Rosario Dawson, the job of deciding who advances to the finale is as difficult as ever. Luckily, she is not alone on the panel: Jennifer Nettles, Cody Rhodes, and T-Pain also have a say on who gets a shot at the $100,000 grand prize. Before the “Power Tower” fires up for the final rounds, we caught up with Dawson. How would you compare this season to the first? Rosario Dawson: I definitely knew to be comfortable, so I can take it all in, because people really brought it this season. The whole experience was pretty novel to us the first year. All of us were better braced. I...

TBS's Go-Big Show indisputably draws its contestants from a wide range of fields, talents, and levels of showmanship.
From feats of strength, agility, and artistry to totally bonkers acts requiring inhuman levels of pain tolerance and personal risk, they line them up, pit them head-to-head, and then judge them on how spectacular they are.
This week, our exclusive clips include a BMX freestyler who performs a phenomenal "bike ballet" then literally jumps the judges and an escape artist whose act promises a grisly finale if he can't beat the clock.
Hailing from Athens, Georgia, Dane Beardsley has made a career out of a seventh-grade obsession with BMX bikes.
As a BMX Freestyler, he's best known for his YouTube videos of trick routines and as a team rider for Dk Bicycles.
Our exclusive clip of his Go-Big Show act includes two separate elements.

Where do they find these competitors? Seriously. This week, we bring you another two sneak peeks at the unbelievable acts competing for a place in the finals of TBS's Go-Big Show Season 2.
There's Leroy Patterson, whom some might remember from America's Got Talent Season 10, presenting his "pain junkie" act. Be ready to cover your eyes. This guy's insane.
Then there's Levi Troutman, known professionally as the KaMaKaZiE KiD, defying death and (almost) all injuries to walk away from a wreck of his own making.
I'm not sure what the world would've called "pain junkie" acts before the era of social media and YouTube celebrities.
I seem to recall watching shows as a kid with people walking across broken glass or lying down on a bed of nails to demonstrate feats of concentration and pain tolerance, but Leroy Patterson is a whole other category unto himself.

Exclusive: David Letterman’s “Stupid Pet Tricks” is making a television comeback. TBS has greenlighted a 10-episode half-hour comedy-variety series inspired by the iconic segment Letterman did for three decades on NBC’s Late Night and CBS’ Late Show, with Sarah Silverman as host. The project hails from The Jay & Tony Show’s Jay Blumenfield and Tony Marsh and Letterman’s Worldwide Pants. Blumenfield, Marsh, Letterman, Silverman and Amy Zvi executive produce.
Stupid Pet Tricks, the series, promises to retain all the original segment’s charm, silly fun and appreciation for the often-absurd bond between humans and their animal friends, with Silverman infusing it with a quirky vibe. TBS has renewed its unscripted competition series “Go-Big Show” for a second season, with DJ Khaled joining as a celebrity judge.
Khaled will join the panel that includes Rosario Dawson, Jennifer Nettles, Cody Rhodes and host Bert Kreischer.
“Go-Big Show” showcases supersized talents on a scale never before seen on television. The debut season featured monster trucks, alligator trainers, stunt archery and other radical feats. The program celebrates daring acts alongside personal, behind-the-scenes stories from the challengers as they battle head to head to impress the judges and advance toward the finale’s $100,000 prize.
“When you find a show and personalities that come together so authentically and bring joy and wow to an audience, you go big with your commitment to it,” Brett Weitz, general manager of TBS, TNT and truTV, said. “Viewers turned in week after week to see both what amazing acts our contestants could perform and what our judges reactions would be.

A lot of you could — and did — see John Cena last night. And Nicole Byer, too, as the duo hosts the rebooted “Wipeout,” which officially launched Thursday on TBS. We say “officially,” because the series premiere did technically air as a sneak peek two days earlier.
Thursday’s 9 p.m. premiere drew 1.1 million total viewers, according to Nielsen, with 432,000 of them coming from the key adults 18-49 demographic. That demo tally makes this “Wipeout” the No. 1 new unscripted offering on cable television, beating fellow freshman TBS series “The Go Big Show,” which opened to 302,000 viewers in the key demo.
The Tuesday sneak peek earned 775,000 total viewers, with 369,000 of them from the main demo. You may be wondering why what was technically the first airing of Episode 1 didn’t outdo the official premiere. While Tuesday’s special preview had a great lead-in — the UCLA vs. Michigan post-game show — the “Wipeout” episode...

Aew wrestler, co-founder and executive vice president Cody Rhodes lost his “Rhodes” for legal reasons when he left WWE. “The American Nightmare” has the rights back now but still won’t use his family’s adopted surname in the ring or on wrestling TV, he said on Thursday.
