Well made though terribly familiar
The subject matter of this film is rather familiar, though it is handled well. A struggling writer is frustrated as his inspiration isn't coming. However, out of the blue, a salesman arrives with a magic pill that is guaranteed to work....and seemingly for next to nothing. Naturally, though, the audience recognizes this as a sort of "deal with the devil" and when the deal has a severe penalty, the audience isn't all that surprised. After all, making deals with the forces of darkness are tricky and the man probably should have consulted a lawyer first to check for potential pitfalls.
As for the style, I liked the way the salesman talked--in a rhyming pattern a lot like a Dr. Seuss book. Aside from that, it was well done but not particularly new.
