It was a very big night for 12-time Oscar nominee Bradley Cooper at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on Thursday night.

“We try to build the audience into our show as much as we can,” says “Artificial” creator Bernie Su, “meaning that the audience gets to decide and sway a lot of plot deviations in the story.” Watch our exclusive video interview with Su above.

“Artificial,” which Su co-created with Evan Mandery, is a scripted and interactive science-fiction series about an A.I. (Tiffany Chu) learning how to be human. Because it is presented live, audiences get to directly influence the story through comments and polls, to often surprising results. It is the first original program on Twitch, which is primarily a gaming platform.
“It’s all participatory narrative,” explains Su. “We like to call this the collective narrative experience.” An at times the audience polls can have “longstanding consequences to the show.” For instance, in a scene where the A.

There have only been two Daytime Emmy winners for Best Entertainment Talk Show in the last six years: “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “The Talk”. But this year they could both be ambushed by a newcomer, some plucky upstart by the name of Carol Burnett. She’s nominated for her Netflix series “A Little Help,” and if she wins it would be the first Daytime Emmy in the legendary entertainer’s career.
But maybe a better question would be where she’d even put the award if she got it. Over the course of her career she has won six Primetime Emmys, five Golden Globes (plus a new honorary award named for her), two Peabody Awards, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor, a Grammy and the Life Achievement Award from the Screen Actors Guild, to name a few.

The 46th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards nominations honoring the best in daytime television were announced on Wednesday, March 20, live on the CBS talk show “The Talk.” Winners will be revealed at the Creative Arts Daytime Emmys on Friday, May 3 and the main ceremony on Sunday, May 5. So who made the cut for these awards? Scroll down for the complete list and read our full report.
The Daytime Emmy Awards cover a wide variety of programming including soap operas, talk shows, game shows, children’s shows, animation and more. In recent years the awards have also expanded into the online streaming realm, just like their primetime counterparts, so digital drama series and programs from Netflix and Amazon are also represented.
The awards for dramatic acting are unique as they undergo an extra pre-nominations phase of voting. TV academy members watched short sample clips of all entrants for lead and supporting awards.

On Sunday night at the 76th Golden Globes, Carol Burnett became the first recipient of the awards show’s lifetime achievement award. Much like the Globes’ Cecil B. DeMille award, which has been given on an annual basis since 1952, the newly christened Carol Burnett Award will recognize a performer for their career in the world of television.
“I’m really gobsmacked by this. Does this mean that I get to accept this every year?” Burnett joked to the gathered audience at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
The iconic performer paid tribute to the childhood heroes of her youth and went through her work on “The Carol Burnett Show,” her groundbreaking sketch show that ran for 11 seasons from 1967 to 1978. She saluted co-stars Harvey Korman, Vickie Lawrence, Lye Waggoner, and Tim Conway, in addition to the “happy family” of the crew behind the scenes.

Chicago – She’s so glad we had this time together. Carol Burnett, who practically is the history of show business in one career, recently appeared at the Chicago Theatre with her show “An Evening of Laughter and Reflection,” which was a career overview and audience Q&A… just like she had done on her classic TV show.
Carol Creighton Burnett was born in San Antonio, Texas, but eventually moved to Hollywood to be raised by her grandmother when her parents separated. She graduated from Hollywood High School, and went to college at UCLA, studying to be a playwright but also loving to perform. She left college her junior year to move to New York City, and a year later put on a revue show from the actor’s boarding house where she was staying, which launched her professional career.

Carol Burnett becomes the latest great from TV’s past to enter the world of streaming on Friday with the debut of her Netflix series “A Little Help With Carol Burnett,” and the 85-year-old actress told Vulture that she prefers the streaming world to broadcast television these days, saying “there are just too many cooks now.”
“A Little Help” will see Burnett and her co-host, comedian Russell Peters, work with a group of kids to help solve the problems of celebrities including Billy Eichner, Taraji P. Henson and Mark Cuban. The show marks Burnett’s first regular return to television since CBS’ ill-fated attempt at reviving her variety series “The Carol Burnett Show” in the early 1990s. Since then, Burnett had appeared in guest spots on a handful of series including “Glee,” “Hawaii Five-o” and “Hot in Cleveland.”
So why did Burnett decide to return to the television format, particularly on streaming? Burnett told Vulture that working with Netflix reminded her of the early days of TV, where network executives weren’t as involved in the making of the shows.

“I liked it, because they stayed away,” she said of Netflix. “When I was doing my show back in the covered-wagon days, they didn’t even want to read a script.” She added that executives such as CBS’ William Paley would leave her alone. “But a lot of the networks now, they’ve got an army of people coming to comment and tell you how you should change something, and it’s very bothersome to me.”
Burnett said that shooting guest spots on a 22-minute sitcom would take up to five hours, “because everybody, after every scene, there were all these writers and network people saying ‘Oh, no. Change that line.'”
Netflix has winning over the creative community lately, luring big time TV showrunners like Ryan Murphy and Shonda Rhimes away from broadcast television.

Burnett is just the latest to praise Netflix’s hands-off approach. “They had some notes and suggestions when we were casting, and then afterwards, they left us alone,” she added.

1. “Dear White People” Volume 2 (available May 4)
Why Should I Watch? “Dear White People” was one of the best new shows of 2017 — and it’s not just IndieWire saying so. Justin Simien’s Netflix original series ranked as No. 14 on the Uproxx critics’ poll, which is far too low, of course, but shows impressive support nonetheless. The weighty topical discussions were smoothed over with incredible style (“Moonlight” director Barry Jenkins directed Episode 5!), heartfelt love stories, and sharp humor, making the initial 10 episodes an absolute joy from start to finish. Is it a comedy, a drama, a romance, or something else entirely? Why not all three? “Dear White People” has a lot to say and a strong voice to say it with. Season 2 is set to be even better. Don’t miss it.
Bonus Reason: Lena Waithe joins the cast in Season 2 as P. Ninny, a “braggadocious Mc” who stars in a reality series called “Trap-House Tricks,...

Carol Burnett claims that the thought of taking notes from network and advertising people and making changes killed the ABC pilot project she was working on last year.
The project, tentatively titled Household Name, would have been executive produced by Parks and Recreation star Amy Poehler and written by Michael Saltzman. The comedy centered on a family who buys the house of their dreams, but with one stipulation – they must live with the previous owner, an eccentric actress that was to be played by Burnett.
So what happened with the show? “The pilot was very funny and the audience and everyone seemed to think “whee!”,” Burnett told the New York Post. “Then the network wanted to recast a couple of main parts … and wanted Michael Saltzman to add extra stuff they thought was funny — more of the family stuff and less of the oddball situation we were in.

Penny’s rescue from a pipe took plenty of manpower — some big and some small.
On Sunday, rescuers from the Greenville Emergency and Rescue Squad tried for hours to free the red tick coonhound, who had chased a raccoon into a drain pipe during a hunting excursion the day before, according to the Greeneville Sun, who reported the story. A pair of kids were also called on to help.
The lengthy operation began early in the morning as a team consisting of Kevin “Bucky” Ayers, Paul Frutiger, Phillip Cutshaw and Phil Haffcke came to the aid of Penny, owned by a woman named Stacy Ricker.

It's almost too bad that this is Grimm's final season. Grimm Season 6 Episode 2 continued the tension of the season premiere while leavening it some fantastic humorous moments.
While it didn't exactly work out so well for Team Grimm, it was definitely enjoyable to see Renard's day soured even temporarily.
I laughed out loud when Wu and Hank blew right into the middle of the tense standoff outside Bud's repair shop to drag Renard away in handcuffs. The sheer audacity of the move was outstanding, as was Hank's no-sell reaction to Renard woging out in the interrogation.
Renard: You really think this is going to go anywhere?

Twenty five years ago this week, the sitcom Blossom debuted on NBC. Star Mayim Bialik was only 15 when the show began airing regularly on Jan. 3, 1991, and over the course of five seasons, viewers watched her character, Blossom Russo, learn a whole lot of major life lessons.
In fact, the show often made a point of prefacing these episodes with an intro voiceover from Bialik herself, who'd announce "Tonight, on a very special Blossom," just to let viewers know that they were in for some heavy stuff.
In honor of the show's silver anniversary, we're listing off the most special of those very special episodes.

Yes, the woman who showed up in the final moments of last week’s Grimm‘s looks like the believed-dead Juliette. She sounds like Juliette. And she knows everything Juliette knew. But series star Bitsie Tulloch wants this, if nothing else, to be crystal clear:
“Juliette’s flesh and blood, her DNA, is still alive,” the actress says. “But this is not Juliette.”
But who, exactly, is the woman known as Eve? After all, the sum total of what we know about her is that she stopped Nick’s beat-down with a flick of her wrist and she’s fond of dramatic entrances and exits.

While chatting about his first year of fatherhood, the “She’s the Man” hunk confessed that he’s become pretty stellar at the fine art of beatboxing as a means to helping his daughter Everly stop crying.
He shared, “Beatboxing worked for a little while. It’s not working anymore,” he explained, followed by a quick sampling of his skills.
