Best episode yet, finally moving towards the endgame for the season, building on pieces from before. Kurt was the star of the episode!
EddyTheMartian00719 December 2021
I loved the original Dexter show despite its varying quality at times, so I was very excited for the comeback. I had thought of possible ways a Season 9 could've gone and so far this revival has satisfied those ideas enough, but to be honest, with it only being 10 episodes I was a bit worried with how slowly the plot was moving. I also felt the writing was a bit forced in areas, which reminded me of some of the weaker elements of the original show, but so far they haven't gone too far. Thankfully this episode really seems to finally set up the endgame for the season, which looks to be very satisfying. We got a great Kurt and Dexter confrontation, Kurt's sad origin, suspicion arousing for everyone, best music and cinematography yet, plus a perfectly used cameo at the end, with an interesting cliff hanger. The cinematography especially is better than the original show ever was. I really appreciate how many small details have actually been set up in the past episodes, which I didn't expect. It really feels like it's strengthening the whole storyline more and more as it goes on. The acting has also been really good from the leads, love the Deb hallucinations, I think Harrison is really good, but Dexter and Kurt are really the stars here. Awesome job to the great Michael C Hall and Clancy Brown. If these last 3 episodes are the best I can definitely see this revival being one of the better "seasons" of the show, though I think it's too late to match its peak. I was hoping this revival would explore Dexter's character more deeply in a way that changes how we view the original series, which maybe that was too much to ask, but who knows it could happen still, there's been some really interesting teases. Regardless this was a really great episode which reignited my excitement for the series again. So far every episode has been as good or better than the last, so that's a good sign. All the storylines seem to finally start converging and I really can't wait!

Fantastic episode with a few flaws
ziholeung20 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I must say I enjoyed this episode the most so far in this new season. Tense moments, Dexter is getting exposed like that kid in Suits, and we finally see the battle between him and Kurt come to life. The cliffhanger at the end is well crafted and I'm excitingly looking forward to knowing what will happen next.

The reason why I gave a 9 instead of 10 is because there are several things that others have pointed out which are hard to believe:

1. Drunk Kurt discovered some ashes on the coat and knows that Dexter killed his son. Is this what they call "killer instincts"? Even so, it's extremely far fetched.

2. Podcaster remembered everything of that day when she had the interview with Kurt. She remembered that Dexter was charging his phone and seated at a certain table. This girl has photographic memory? Or can she go back in time just like Dr Strange? Hard to believe.

3. Kurt blamed his dad for killing the girl and he walked off just like that?! Indeed, even a 12yrs old would not buy that for a minute.

You are Dexter Morgan!
gedikreverdi19 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Harrison remembers how the Trinity killer killed his mother just like his father remembers how they killed his own mother. Kurt got away with the murder for now despite the DNA evidence saying it was his father who must have killed her. And the most important thing is that Kurt knows it's Dexter who killed his son. This season feels like the impeccable Trinity season of the good old Dexter and it is one of the best things in 2021.

Devil's in the detail

Warning: Spoilers
I find errors like Dexter, PROFESSIONAL, going into an office of a person ARRESTED FOR MURDER to search though his stuff without gloves a rookie mistake that can't be forgiven.

In the original show details like this did play some role eventually, create new "drama" - making mistakes , being afraid to get caught, cleaning own mess etc etc.

It is just sloppy.

Another fantastic episode

Don't pay attention to the wanna be professional film critics posting reviews. This was a great episode. Great acting, great plot development, fantastic inner monolog. Entertainment at its best.

"It was snowing, right?"

Warning: Spoilers
Every scene between Kurt and Dexter is incredibly compelling and so revealing of their positions and dynamic. Kurt being a smarter killer than Dexter originally expected provides for some wonderfully tense moments as Dexter tries to thwart his plans. Angela is so compelling and I'm glad the show respects her as a character and allows her to be a real, yet imperfect, individual who has to deal with some incredibly tough circumstances. Everything with Harrison is really good, and I can't wait to see how that and the rest of the story all continues in the next episode. Michael C. Hall is great as always, I adore his portrayal of Dexter within this show. I can hardly believe that this season is almost over, but I'm loving it more and more each week!

A 1 year old baby remember everything ?...
nicofreezer25 May 2022
Its just impossible that a 1 year old baby remember anything at all, not even an image, nothing. Way to young, and now they tell us that Harrison remember words Arthur Mitchell tell him, WTF ?

I enjoy New Blood for the entertaining but you dont have to think too much, The stupid chinese B just turn dexter in , by miracle she link everything and know about the phone recording, nearly impossible, also dexter saved her life and she turn him in just like that, what a Bi* And Kurt remember that some dust was on dexter jacket, WTF writers, please 9/10 for entertaiment but the illogical events turn it into a 8/10.

I used to be the predator, but now I'm the protector
Shadowboy_25cm20 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Ten years have passed, fans were unsatisfied with the final 8th season of "Dexter" and Showtime understood that some adjustments had to be done, but also, that there are still a fanbase and interrest in this show.

Now, Dexter is back, episode 7 and there is a lot going on that I didn't see coming.

Kurt Caldwell is getting more complexity (p.e. An interresting interrogation with a parallel montage flashback) and shows more hidden wits and intelligence. Perfect tactician and chess player. He's the main character in this episode and now it's Clancy Browns' excellent, charismatic and deep one-man-show that fuels this episode. Pure joy to watch this actor giving life to the character of Kurt Caldwell and he plays with everyone.

The relationship between Dexter and Harrison develops more and more into the deeper darkness inside of both characters. They are fragile and full of anger that keeps them together. Harrison opened up to his father and we get an intense POW flashback, just horrifying and great cinematography with an intense cameo.

On the minus for this episode: There are some very constructed deus ex machina plot points (p.e. The memory of the podcast journalist Molly Park about Dexter charging his mobile and the scene in the police station between Dexter and Kurt about the ashes and the spine screw).

It is as it is. The stakes are set: Kurt Caldwell knows who killed his son, the conflict between the main antagonists is ready to hit heavy, intense and cathartic.

This episode ends with a huge cliffhanger, but we have still some episodes in front of us, so this cliffhanger might get a fast resolution in the beginning of episode 8.

We'll see. I'm hooked and waiting for the next episode.

Rating: solid 8 stars.

The plot thickens.
pjdickinson-2782219 December 2021
A good episode with some nice twists even if the first is extremely far fetched to say the least. The last one is a corker, though, and the first sets it up. It's all set up now for the final showdown and I hope it all pays off. It's all been built up very well and I suspect Dexter's dark passenger will get some much needed help from Harrison's.

Tension is rising and Plot is thickening. It feels like it's just the beginning !!!
christwond20 December 2021
This Episode and clearly proven that New Blood is much more than just a mini series of 10 episodes. The Plot is developing in high speed, things that have been teased at the beginning have been confirmed. 3 Episodes to wrap up the entire plot? Impossible. This cant be only 1 season. It's just too genius.

It's the little things that spoil it
Madcookie1723 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
If you don't think too hard about it, it was a good episode, maybe the best this season, but the little things pile on and on and there comes a point where it's too much.

The entire 'it wasn't snow, it was ash' leading to 'you killed my son' line of thinking makes no sense. Let's see the timeline Matt goes missing day 1, people start looking for him at least 2 nights and on the forth day you see some ash and you immediately assume that whoever killed him casually sat on his body for 3 days and THEN decided to get rid of it. Not no mention the incinerator that apparently is for public use so anyone at any time could dump something inside therefore ash raining shouldn't be such an eyebrow-raising occurrence.

Then we have Dexter breaking into the guy's office without gloves, at broad daylight and fixing a crooked picture on the wall. At this point he should have just wrote 'I was here' along with his phone and address.

Then some guy asks Harrison for help move some stuff, gives him money and a letter(suggesting that he knew he was Dexter's son), then immediately grabs the moved stuff and carries it away with ease and our boy doesn't bat an eye...

Lastly we have Molly with her eidetic memory, who was engaged in a conversation with another, had no reason to be suspicions of Dexter whatsoever but still managed to remember that he put his phone close to her, where he sat at the diner, probably what he ordered too. That's not how memory works, because in order to remember something you need to at least focus on it. If you look back at ep6 she isn't even looking at him while Dexter charges his phone...

Dexter used to be such a well crafted show and I just hope this episode's little mistakes are a one-time thing and it manages to finish off strong.

The writing is so bad
mamet-9471320 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
How would one explain chain of evidence when said evidence (the tooth) was collected by a civilian?

So after Harrison witnesses Kurt getting arrested he goes home and does not utter a single word about it.

A prisoner is left completely alone at a police station house at night and Dexter walks right in. There are no locks at the police station especially considering they think they've just solved a 25 year old murder.

I could go on about the prosecutor spending a whole 5 seconds to considering not bringing charges or Dexter suddenly showing up while his annoying kid is going to have a knife fight.

The only thing worse than the bad writing and plot holes is that people keep giving this series a high rating.

This episode (and show) is awful.

None of these new characters bring value
dukemitchell-7345720 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I think this was easily the best episode. Some of these characters are just annoying though. I got excited that Molly was finally out of the picture but then pops up again at the end. I guess they try to make her a competent strong female but she's just bossy and arrogant.

Kurt set a trap?
coleektorrd20 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter wasn't wearing gloves when he ransacked Kurt's office looking for the titanium screw and other evidence. He straightened out the picture even though he didn't make it crooked. Could Kurt have made that picture crooked as a tell that somebody was there? All he has to do is have fingerprints taken to prove Dexter broke in his office. Or, he'll logically assume it just to prove to himself that Dexter killed his son.

The possibilities are endless where this will go from here.

By the titles of the upcoming episodes one would expect that Dexter will come clean with Harrison and teach him how to control his urges. Expect some twists.

Absolutely loving this season.

Great episode but....
selsmoreroad20 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
No way Kurt gets released. 67% accuracy on dna evidence, combined with his lies about matt and timing his lies to halt the search, plus a statement about his off the grid cabin from the blogger would definitely be enough to have him charged. They would then have warrants to search his properties and investigate about the other girls and extend the search for bodies. Loving this series, but no way he would of been released.

Setting things up for Episodes 8,9 and 10
adiman-5467819 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
It felt like they were setting things up for Episodes 8 , 9 and 10

It was a showcase episode for Clancy Brown. He is a great actor

The scenes between Dexter and Kurt were great especially the scenes in prison and the diner (Michael C Hall and Clancy Brown were great together)

It was unique way of Kurt finding out that Dexter killed his son with titanium in his son's leg not getting burnt (I did not think of it, props to the writers)

The Trinity Flashback was great. John Lithgow was a great actor. I had a feeling John Lithgow would reappear as a Harrison Flashback when he was announced as part of the revival

It would be interesting if Kurt tells Angela that Dexter killed his son

Angela and Molly are onto Dexter which could be interesting.

Dexter returns to work , finding clues about Iris.
mrmarckline21 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Dexter put on his magical gloves and tells his girlfriend cop what actually happened to Iris , thank god , for 7 episodes it seemed all he wanted to do want to make breakfast every morning.

Harrison has been put thru hell , witnessing his mom being slayed by the wolf , all that blood , admitting he is truly messed up for life , but hey his dear old dad has to tell him , he slays wolves , he rids evil people who take innocent lives and will have to rid Kurt eventually , unless the wolf tries to take out Harrison , or Dexter instead, wound him and bring father and son together , so Kurt gets rid of them both.

Kurt is shrewd in his pops story , but in all fairness a critic has to be on drugs to believe he was describing his nasty old man , when in fact he was telling everyone it was him , who shot Iris , matching his own technique.

Dexter seems bored , the only way to get thru to his son will have to be showing him , he can kill , show him that he is really his dad who loves him, Kurt should have a blue plate special , oh wait that would have been episode 3 .

Debra was either directing or just rewriting a scene for her to be in , one lousy scene , come on Clyde we want more Debra.

Kurt is the type of killer that was lucky for years , killing runaways , and all of a sudden his tactics are slowly sinking him , he was smart and now is desperate to clean up everything including his cabins basement.

One last thing to clean up- Dexter.

This episode had its farfetched moments, but it's doing a great job of building toward an ending that will be very exciting. And I really like seeing the side of Dexter where his objective is protecting.

I wished I had Molly's memory.
eunbi053019 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I'm very interested to know how Kurt found out that Dexter cremated Matt, because the "it wasn't snow, it was ash" sounds a bit farfetched to me, why would Kurt assume his son was dead by having ash on his jacket?

About Kurt's made up story on how his father was Iris's real killer, it really sounds like a loophole that he managed to walk free.

The weird dude that spot Harrison a 20 to carry stuff didn't give him the creeps? Really? How gullible can one so street smarty be?

What kind of photographic memory does Molly have? She was able to remember that Jim left his phone charging, considering that when he was at the bar he placed an order and she was more concerned with getting an exclusive interview with Matt? That and her and Angela's "this is weird" speech.

Lousy writing
ndme-140-37119019 December 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Kurt finds ash on his jacket an knows Dexter killed his son. WHAT?!

Chief of police finds a body and calls her lying ex boyfriend to examine the crime scene instead of the real unit. WHY?!

Kurt manages to clean out his murder basement alone in just one night. HOW?!

I could get on and on. It is just lousy writing. Dexter has become a joke in the last season and this season is just as bad.
