The episode description was incorrect. But it was wrong on the CBS site too. It should read" The discovery of a dead body on a fire escape leads the team into the world of modern day treasure hunting as Gibbs and Fornell get deeper into their search for the drug kingpin. A few years back I wrote them about the type of mistake. They thanked me and said they are often written before the final script is edited.

Glad to see writers avoided jumping the shark. The team is back to solving crime without WOKE lectures on all the nonsense WOKErs lecture about. Nice banter amongst the crew without getting stupid like their pals over at NCIS-LA. There is a risk they'll beat this Tobias story into the ground.
Decent episode

Warning: Spoilers
The 18th season has been fine so far, I feel like I'm having more fun with this season than I had with the 17th season. "Blood and Treasure" is yet another decent episode in this season. That being said, it's definitely not bad.
Let's start with the good.
. The production values of the episode are great as usual. "Blood and Treasure" is well-directed, liked the music and the acting's pretty good.
. There are relatable themes touched upon (like grief for instance) and moments of intrigue. The solution is passable and I did enjoy the humorous touch at the end! Really looking forward to see more of the opioids investigation, they have set the story with Fornell up pretty well. Casey is toned down in this season, which I like, because I did find her irritating in the previous season.
But....
. The mystery feels like a basic NCIS case one has seen dozens of times before, which is not terrible, just tiresome. The humor is not always spot on and can come off weird at times. Also, do agree that the narrative dragged quite a bit in places.
Overall, a decent episode.
6/10 HK.

Kasie's Bootleg DVDs
Faena7 April 2021
Anyone know WTH Kasie was talking about watching bootleg Indiana Jones DVDs? She coudn't get ahold of legit ones which have been in circulation for what, nearly 20 years? And she's barely 30? Horrible line.
Also, this episode is pretty bad.

Stupid
koohii18 April 2023
The whole treasure hunting idea is pretty frickin' stupid. Not to mention irresponsible and possibly reckless endangerment. And we have Sloane doing her absolutely horrid soap-opera crap that I was hoping we'd get the hell away from. I really wish her character would just get written out. She's never been a good fit, her personal life was a pointless distraction, and frankly, there's never been a more useless character on the show for multiple episodes. She should never have been brought in--Dr. Palmer helped Ducky study for his psych credentials, and could also have served the same purpose. Only the side story supporting Fornell's quest saves this episode from being a 1-star.
Finally, they are going to shoot a bad guy... Whaaat?

Warning: Spoilers
There was a time on this show when a bad guy going for a gun received a fast double-tap to the chest from Gibbs and/or his team, which is I believe the standard acceptable response by REAL law enforcement officers. Evidently, the PC lords of TV have decided this can no longer be shown. They have to shoot him in the shoulder, like the Lone Ranger used to do. The Lone Ranger never killed anybody, and now maybe Gibbs & Co. won't be able to any more. Unless of course it's a super-evil bad guy, or he is killed by another bad guy.
This show is going downhill
morganparker210 December 2020
This show feels like a mess now. The change of characters has been disruptive and the story this season is awful. Who cares about the guys daughter? IDK, this whole series feels like it will end with bad episodes, maybe it was better to quit before all of this.
