Image Entertainment will release Smile aka La Morte Ha Un Obiettivo August 16th, 2011 on DVD. This film was shot in Italy and completed in 2009. Already released in Italian theatres, this horror film envisions a supernatural camera, which takes the lives of those photographed. In most cases: a picture is worth a thousand words, but in Smile's case a photograph will capture your last moments. Prepare for something surreal in just a few weeks, with the release details for Smile available below (in English).
The film synopsis for Smile:
"A carefree summer vacation turns into an inescapable terror trap for a group of young students who buy a vintage instant camera from a mysterious local shop owner (Armand Assante), only to discover that every photo taken with the camera leads to the subject’s death—in grisly ways linked to the picture itself. Unless they can unravel the bloody...

For a lot of people, the American Idol audition rounds are all about the point-and-hoot spectacle of watching deranged, deluded “singers” committing treacherous acts against the beloved songbooks of Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, and a host of other musical superstars. Yet while I’m not immune to occasionally chuckling at said catastrophes, I get far more enjoyment from the good auditions, from experiencing the sudden and unexpected chills that come from seeing a nervous, heretofore anonymous kid floor a panel of judges (and 25 million viewers) with his or her vocal prowess.
Thanks to the wonders of YouTube, I occasionally find...

Dread Central’s next final girl, Jill Schoelen, was one of our busiest final girls working in the horror genre. The actress appeared in Wes Craven’s Chiller, The Stepfather, Curse 2: The Bite, The Phantom of the Opera, Popcorn, and When a Stranger Calls Back, firmly cementing her place as a beloved final girl of modern horror history.
The ironic part of it all is that Schoelen’s acting career was kind of a happy accident.
“When I started off in the business, I came in as a singer,” explained Schoelen. “Then from there, I’d get asked to audition for singing parts that had a little bit of acting. That turned into acting auditions that had a little bit of singing, and then it turned into full-blown acting.”
One of Schoelen’s first roles was in one of this writer’s favorite cult comedies of the 80s: DC Cab.

Here is a brand-new horror flick from Italy, which slowly seems returning to the genre after too many years of nothing, and finally some new names are coming into play. We already talked about upcoming movies Morituris (here and here) and Shadow (here). Recently I had the chance to watch - during the post production - a complete version of Francesco Gasperoni’s Smile and it made a pretty good impression on me.
