This series is truly unique, compelling, and disturbing...
Finally the story moves along at something past a walk. I appreciate plot development, but it felt like the wheels were spinning a bit, not to say the series isn't enjoyable, it truly is. The MDE scene was FANTASTIC, just perfectly weird and intense, awesome use of color and music. The whole cast just killed it. I got a strange flashback to Lost at certain points, which was completely surprising and oddly fulfilling. A little ::ghasp:: at the end.
In a word, the best way I would describe this series is tone, tonally this series just works. On so many levels, from the score, cinematography, color pallet, to the dialog and acting, all of it...it really is fantastic. Reminiscent of The Leftovers, where all facets of the program seem to be in tune, it really is satisfying to see.
My favorite episode thus far.
Revisit: from ~20:20 "Good day refiners" to ~26:33 "The Musical Dance Experience is officially canceled" is easily the best scene of 2022. If there was an Emmy for Best Scene Trammell Tillman would have won it.
