- Courtney Whitmore: She broke into the house, Pat, and... and was trying to steal the green lantern.
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: I wasn't stealing anything. This belonged to my father.
- Pat Dugan: Your father?
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: His name was Alan Scott.
- Barbara Whitmore: [seeing Pat react] Does that name mean something to you?
- Pat Dugan: Yeah. It's the Green Lantern.
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: His ring led me here. My name is Jennie. Who are you?
- Pat Dugan: I'm Pat Dugan.
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: You're Stripesy? You're a legend.
- Pat Dugan: [simultaneously with Courtney] I am?
- Courtney Whitmore: He is?
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: You built the Star-Rocket Racer. You're a mechanical genius. It's an absolute honor to meet you, Mr. Dugan.
- Pat Dugan: So, where'd you get the ring?
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: It was left for me by my dad. It started glowing, pulling at me.
- Pat Dugan: The ring worked that entire time?
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: Mm, why wouldn't it?
- Pat Dugan: Well, just according to what I know, Alan had to recharge the ring once a day using the lantern, but, you know, maybe I'm remembering wrong. Well, uh, let's see if we can take a look inside, learn something.
- [as he prepares to open the lantern, her eyes glow green and his wrench flies out of his hands]
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: What just happened?
- Pat Dugan: Okay, the way it was, the power reacted to your father's emotions, so you seem like you're feeling anxious. Maybe you made the lantern anxious, too.
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: What does the ring actually do?
- Pat Dugan: Well, for one thing, it can create anything that you will it to.
- Jennifer-Lynn Hayden: How would I even do that?
- Pat Dugan: Just think of something, picture it in your head.
- Courtney Whitmore: If you're worried I'm here to dig through old files again, don't be. I'm done with that.
- Pat Dugan: What are you talking about?
- Courtney Whitmore: Jennie. She made me realize what was really important: my friends, my family, Stripesy. I should have treated you more like Jennie did when we first moved here. So, it's Courtney Whitmore first; daughter, sister, friend, and if a villain comes up, then it'll be Stargirl.
- Pat Dugan: Right, right. It's actually funny you should mention that, 'cause, uh, well... there is this old villain from the old days called the Shade. He's bad news. And he's the last member of the Injustice Society that's unaccounted for. And I think he's in Blue Valley.
- Courtney Whitmore: [giddy] I'll get my staff!
- Cindy Burman: Let me go!
- Eclipso: Your stepmother was desperate to escape. She was trying to kill you. I had to take control to protect you.
- Cindy Burman: I can protect myself. What did you do to her?
- Eclipso: I fed off her hatred, her desperation, her corrupt soul.
- Cindy Burman: I'm in control. Me! My body is mine. You do that again, and I'll put you back in the box, you got it?
- Eclipso: Of course, Cynthia. Of course. I am sorry. You are in control. You. I am only here to serve.
- Cindy Burman: [looking at the pile of ash that was her stepmother] I didn't want her dead.
- Barbara Whitmore: How may I help you, Mr. Swift?
- Richard Swift: Well, as my card says, I deal in things both old and... curious, as a collector. And one of my many passions is magic. Stage magic, that is. It's come to my attention that the late William Zarick had a noteworthy collection of magical stage props and sundries from the past, now held in trust by the same American Dream.
- Barbara Whitmore: William Zarick?
- Richard Swift: Uh, a councilman in Blue Valley, if I'm not mistaken, but a-a well-known... collector.
- Barbara Whitmore: Did you know Mr. Zarick?
- Richard Swift: Merely by reputation.
- Barbara Whitmore: Mm.
- Richard Swift: Barbara...
- Barbara Whitmore: Mm.
- Richard Swift: I'm going to cut to the chase. If the American Dream were to sell me Zarick's collection, I'd probably pay a ridiculously high sum for it.
- Barbara Whitmore: Well, let me see where the collection is stored and if the committee wants to sell it, and I'll get back to you.
- Richard Swift: Excellent.
- Barbara Whitmore: [he stands to leave] There's no contact info, which is strange for a business card, if you don't mind me saying.
- Richard Swift: I'll be in touch with you, but while I'm here, I may as well explore all that is Blue Valley. By chance, where might I find a decent cup of tea?
- Barbara Whitmore: You could try Richie's. It's just right down the street.
- Richard Swift: Richie's. Sounds delightful. I'll be in touch.
- Courtney Whitmore: What's all of this?
- Barbara Whitmore: Breakfast. Jennie made it.
- Mike Dugan: Gotta try these pancakes.
- Barbara Whitmore: I thought Pat's were unbeatable, but we sure got a contender here.
- Mike Dugan: Oh, Pat's are very beatable.
- Pat Dugan: This is like a restaurant.
- Courtney Whitmore: Pat, how do you know she's really Green Lantern's daughter?
- Cindy Burman: Well, um... the JSA didn't talk about their kids a lot, to protect 'em, but I know that they had 'em. And that ring, it only worked for Alan.
- Courtney Whitmore: The Cosmic Staff only worked for Starman, and now it works for me. What if she's not who she says she is? What if she's, like, a spy or something?
- Cindy Burman: A spy?
- Courtney Whitmore: Yeah, for... for one of the JSA's old enemies, like Baron von Blitzkrieg.
- Cindy Burman: Okay, there's no "von", all right? It's just Baron Blitzkrieg. A-And he died in the war.
- Courtney Whitmore: Okay, whoever, then.
- Cindy Burman: Listen, Court, you're looking for villains everywhere. And I get it. Being Stargirl, it's...
- Courtney Whitmore: Everything.
- Cindy Burman: This life that you're pursuing, it's more about helping people than it is fighting the bad guys. And that's what you're good at. Yolanda, Rick, Beth, you gave them a shot when nobody else would. So how about giving this kid a chance?
