When Xiuxiu (played by Ivy Lee) disclosed her real identity as a Japanese as Natsuki Hideko and explaining why she escaped to Singapore, one can see her bowing to Cheng Dida (played by James Lye) and apologising to him. It is known as 'ojigi' in Japanese, commonly used as a sign of salutation, reverence, apology or gratitude in social or religious situations.
