Poetry is feelings ; prose is speaking.
jamesohman-3748010 March 2021
In this time of world Pandemic with inconceivable loss to so many families the writer's story is a-touchstone to reach the heart and remind us all we don't skate through in life... As the poem states " when only love remains, give it away." ( paraphrase). Love IS all we have and all we can give. Lessons learned or reinforced. See you all next week NCIS !!

Back to the old plots amongst death and despair
lbowdls16 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
For several seasons and episodes now NCIS has finally steered away from the culprit being a minor character that the audience is supposed to forget about and them magically it turns out to them. I knew that this was happening again in this episode but it's also a massive amount of loss for team members too in this one. Very emotional on the back of finding out several episodes ago that Jimmy's wife had died! And Jack leaving last week. Not really sure why all these elements are necessary. Maybe we'll find out down the line.

A decent episode but not a great one
cstimpy11 March 2021
It was a decent episode I don't think the show has gotten too sappy but i still like it. The only complaint I have of this show as a whole is them killing off most of the female cast, that's how it feels to me anyways This was a weak case though.

Feels like goodbye...
carraoneil10 March 2021
Did anyone else get the sense that this is a farewell type episode. Gibbs being glib, fornells daughter, the whole episode felt like a goodbye.

Lame Ep but nice ending
Wortgefechte8 August 2021
The weekly case is boring. But the last 3 minutes explain why the Ep has such a high rating.

Too much gloom and doom
Saving2110 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I gave it 7 score bc overall the episode was good. Good scenes between the characters good focus on the subject of living trough this time, taking the good and the bad together. But still there is too much sadness In this episode and this season. The death of Palmer's wife, the COVID pandemic, telling us how things are not good in the world, Sloan leaving and now Fornell's daughter death?? After we seen his and Gibs's ex wife death in earlier seasons, it's too much. We know we aren't living in happy time that things aren't normal in this world . but when we watch tv we also want escapism not to see everything is awful. NCIS should have balanced their stories, yes for showing realism but not that everything is doomed, we want to see that things can be good that positivity can be.

To much....
faithless473429 March 2021
Okay, I get they were trying to send the message family first/loved ones first, however it went to far as to many loved ones were made the center. They could easily have done the same thing with even better results on a small more focused manner. Something focused on only one cast member and not in nearly every scene. They seem to be attempting to do it all in as few episodes as possible.

I would also like to point out that one cast member said hospitals are not allowing people to come to the hospital and then at the end two other cast members are waiting at the hospital and one is not even a blood family member. So...

Winter Chill

Warning: Spoilers
Well, I guess it could have been worse, but fighting food trucks? I just don't know.

NCIS has been solid this season, but very few episodes have really stood out.

Why are we culling the cast?
quincyprairiedog10 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Jimmy's wife, Jack and now Emily. The not oft seen but ever present cast of secondary characters give depth to the primaries. Trimming them away will leave the characters shallow.

Warning: Spoilers
This whole season seemed to be based on which actor/actress doesn't want to guest appear. Of all the deaths, cases and such there is little to no point of killing off side characters as they basically don't matter: they are background to the main characters and even then sometimes are not worth mentioning.

As for earlier episode where Jimmy's wife apparently died of COVID it was a side note. She wasn't on the show much at all but Jimmy being now a main character his loss was felt deeper by us all.

Now this episode is about food trucks. I simply lost how NCIS was involved other than he was a navy guy. But there was little mention of the guys service record and this episode felt more like "let's comment on food trucks" and "here's another mention how COVID has affected the business of food". The other viewers comment that even suggests the security footage first viewed and then the killers footage was the same: that viewer clearly didn't watch or pay attention to the show at all (they were clearly different locations, angles and backgrounds).

The last part about Fornell's daughter I found was more of a side note. The earlier episode about drugs clearly showed she suddenly was into drugs, almost died of an overdose and was allergic to the life saving drugs to save her. If anyone was an addict early or far into their addiction it is sobering when they nearly die compared to waking up feeling barfy and a hangover - this plot line was seemingly not well thought out. The only comment is basically addiction can hit anyone and if you leave an addict alone they will always overdose (not true).

The writing is getting real bad on this show. It used to be one of my favorites but it's getting real hard to watch... "hey McGee, make sure you have your mask" ughhhh give me a break 😒

Time to say goodbye ...
JosephFabeetz10 March 2021
This series has run its course. Episodes are now sappy. The food truck case was ridiculous. What character will they kill off next?. I expected Jack's fish to die as a finale to this episode.

Video Evidence?
Johnny_West22 March 2021
The first thing that the NCIS looks at when they find the dead guy in the truck is the trucking company's security video. They see the driver drop off and pick up the truck, and never see anything else.

At the end of the same episode, now they confront the killer with the same video that shows him knocking the victim into the metal grill, and putting the body in the truck. How much lamer can this get? So they accidentally fast-forwarded the video the first time, and missed this totally incriminating evidence? Even worse is the Perry Mason style confession by the killer. "I snapped because nobody likes me, but I am just doing my job. " Dum dee dum dum.

Then the sub-plot revolves around the incredibly annoying Fornell. He has spent the past four seasons dealing with his daughter's addiction issues, and now that he thinks she has it under control, he drops the bomb on her that he is moving to Costa Rica. Next scene Fornell calls Gibbs to give him some alarming news. Lame, predictable, and numbing. Hopefully this will be the end of Fornell's annoying guest appearances on NCIS?

Finally we get Jimmy Saint Smirky, the "good grief" Charlie Brown coroner who always has some kind of remark to make about everything. Now Doctor Smirk is giving out Dr. Phil advice. Why can't Jimmy get killed off? He has had two bombing attempts and a diner robbery, and yet he continues to ruin this show with his lame humor and need to give people advice.

Oh dear!
ak202024 April 2021
I thought that the gap in episodes was for the writers to try and imptove their stories, which have been dire this series.

Instead a silly main story is padded out with mush back stories. The title of the series is National Criminal Investigative Service. If I had wanted to view a soap opera I would have chosen a better one than this.

For goodness sake CBS - sack the writers and get ones who will write about the NCIS - not this rubbish.

An ok episode!
harrykivi29 September 2023
Warning: Spoilers
The 18th season of NCIS was pretty enjoyable up until "1mm". "The First Day" was quite dull and I wasn't a huge fan of "True Believer". "Winter Chill" is better than these two episodes, but it's still nothing to write home about.

Let's start with the good aspects.

. The production values of the episode are great. The direction's fine, the music fits the scenery and most of the acting is good.

. There are some good jokes in this episode, liked the stuff with Casey, she has become a much better character this season. Also there are relatable themes touched upon (like grief or getting through tough times).

But....

. The mystery itself is kind of predictable at the end of the day and isn't really exciting - a couple of parts feeling a bit stupid even. The dialogue could have been better as well. There is a huge tone shift at the end, it goes from lighthearted to melancholic in a very rapid way. Emily Fornell being killed off felt like an out of the blue idea. There have been some weird writing decisions lately in this season that I simply do not get.

Overall, an average episode.

5/10 HK.
