The Era of Aster Begins
Jeremy_Urquhart1 October 2023
I'm a big fan of Ari Aster's three feature films so far, so I feel like exploring his older short films. Herman's Cure-All Tonic was the earliest, released 10 years before he made his feature debut with Hereditary.

I can't lie - it's a little rough, with a fairly simple horror premise and a setting that's confined to a pharmacy with a dark secret. It can only do so much in 12 minutes I guess, but for what it is, and for how young Aster was when it was released, I guess Herman's Cure-All Tonic is fairly decent.

It's one of those early movies in a filmmaker's career that's only really recommendable to big fans of the filmmaker who want to see how they got their start, but that does still mean that it could be worth checking out for fans of Ari Aster's feature films.
