- Garden District is a short film based on a TV series in development about wealth and desperation in the Garden District and a New Orleans patriarch who tries to control his beautiful and flawed heirs from the grave.
Inspired by the famous Carnival set of New Orleans, creator, Rosary O'Neill, places her characters in the voluptuous Garden District.
The patriarch of the wealthy and eccentric Dubonnet family of New Orleans has recently passed away. Unbeknownst to anyone, Peter Dubonnet changed his will just before his passing, leaving his heirs to question what will happen with the family fortune.
The Dubonnet matriarch, former Carnival queen, Irene, struggles with balancing her love for her adult children and the direction in which their lives have gone. Her gorgeous adult children have returned with their excessive epicurean needs. Each must choose between passion for a new life and duty to family. It is a constant tug-of-war with her artist son, Rooster, and her writer-daughter, Kitten, all while leaning on the family lawyer, Clovis, and barely tolerating the bad habits and financial mishaps of her son-in-law, Quint.
Irene has one year from her late husband's death to decide who will inherit the Dubonnet family fortune. Will Irene Dubonnet be able to save the family estate now that her n'er-do-well billionaire husband has died? . As she navigates her decision about the will, she is faced with the challenges of the old-school traditions of New Orleans vs. the ways of the modern world.
High society and old money camouflage greed, lust and years of backstabbing. Secrets and deceit are gracefully hidden behind the lavish mansion walls of the Garden District. Hurricanes, ghosts, and magical appearances add to the trauma of who will be get the money.
We invite you to immerse yourself in a world veiled by the illusion of carnival Kings and Queens. Mix yourself a Sazerac, throw on some jazz and be prepared to be seduced in a way only New Orleans can.
