"Call Me Irresponsible"
CulvertonSmith24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
So much great character stuff in this, I really love the insight we get into Cal through his backstory. Obviously the character isn't suddenly redeemed, it's just a great look into why he is the way that he is, providing for a level of understanding that we didn't have before. Lexi's scenes are a highlight as well, I really feel like I get her in a way that I didn't fully in season one, so I'm glad she's getting this much of a focus. Rue, Jules, and Elliot prove to be a very entertaining trio, and how that dynamic has developed feels very messy and authentic. I'm absolutely terrified of where Rue is going in the rest of the season, it feels real and believable, it's just tough to see her manipulate people like that and yell at her little sister. God, this show is great, there's so much complexity and nuance in the characters. I appreciate that not everybody has to be likable all the time, it helps to make them feel like actual people.

I really dug this one.

I'm glad Cal got a backstory. He's a character I never really felt I liked or understood, and while I still don't think he's a great guy, it was nice to see the writers try to shed some light on why he is the way he is. Would have been interesting to see how HIS dad was to him...

I also loved the plot with Jules befriend Elliot and seeing all three of them bond. It actually made me laugh, which I don't personally do very often in Euphoria.

I also loved Cal being confronted by Fez and Ash. The biggest reason I liked Season 1 of Euphoria was because of its portrayal of high school life, even though it was hard the arch at times. It feels weird that this seems to be going away from that at times for plots like the one with Cal and his "disk", but I'm still pretty entertained and enthralled.

This was a great episode. Really well acted and directed and written.

Simple yet complex
aboalhyjaa24 January 2022
Loved the episode. The way the producers choose to deliver us a scene they could do it normally but they choose the most cinematic way possible and its great.

Soundtracks are awesome and it what made euphoria a great show since season1.

Rue's multiple characters should have more screen time and the producers should high up the pacing just a little bit.

Magnificent even better than last week's episode!
UniqueParticle24 January 2022
I wasn't feeling right last night so decided to watch the next morning and glad I did a refreshing episode I love how much better much better season 2 is! Some amazing back story on Cal, Rue/Cassie has ground breaking moments and this episode is hilarious I laughed at the truth or dare scene and when Fezco says no multiple times to Rue. Easily my favorite episode of Euphoria since the back story of Kat I loved that one!

I loved it, the season is building up to something big!

Warning: Spoilers
I loved that there was so much RUE in this episode. Zendaya truly is amazing as Rue and leads the show so well. Rue is such a good and entertaining characters.

THE RUE AND GIA SCENE. Like omg. Just give Zendaya another Emmy already, and this is only episode 3... and Storm Reid deserves more recognition, she's always amazing.

Sydney's bathroom scene was so good too!

The Rue/Jules/Elliott storyline became more intriguing this episode too!! The ending with him complimenting Jules?! Omggg it made me realize it seems like he has bad intentions and purposely getting in between Rue & Jules, but the compliments he gave Jules were so sweet and true.

I'm still not sure how I feel about the Cassie / Nate storyline... it was more tolerable this episode, but I just wish Cassie's character went in a different direction with a better storyline. I feel like however this storyline is resolved is what will make or break it.

Lexi's play seems like it may be interesting.. i'm into seeing how Cassie reacts to how it turns out, or it may include all the characters expose them a bit..?

Kat feels so sidelined... and Maddy did as well this episode especially, but since Maddy is involved in the Nate/Cassie thing, she'll have more to come, I'm assuming..

This episode is perfect. Has hints of comedy, a very well paced plot, a lot of exciting drama, this season is fantastic already! Probably one of the best. Can't wait for next week!

Loved the Gia and Rue scene.
totaldramaitalia24 January 2022
I wish we could see more of Rue's family backstory. I mean the fight scenes felt so real and I wish I cohld see more of it. That's reality. There's a lot of teens that live this family chaos drama every day. I love see realistic interaction and they need to explain what it is to live in a house with a drug addicted and a mom taking care of two kids, a house and all of that by herself. Please, show people what's it like to live in your house with the constant anxiety. The pain and all of that.

My favourite opening sequence yet

Warning: Spoilers
Maybe it's just because I'm a bit older and went to high school in the 90s, but having that nostalgic soundtrack coupled with the wildness/ freedom of youth, with the same visual style and editing of modern day euphoria made it really hit home. Although Cal is obviously supposed to be the villain of the series, giving him a sympathetic backstory like this shows how multidimensional to serious really is... Well done to everyone involved.

Drama to comedy
anthonytnguyen24 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
When did this show become a comedy? We went from deep character backstories where you really felt their anxieties, pain, and anguish, to something that's becoming harder to believe and comical.

The episode starts promising with Cal's backstory, but it ended there. You don't care what happens to Cal and ir doesn't even feel real anymore. Same with Rue and Cassie.

The whole episode just feels off.

Different Vibe; In A Good Way
ahmadfattal24 January 2022
This is what the actors meant that season 2 would be disturbing, not by inappropriate stuff instead how the characters choose wrong paths to follow. This is what they mean by disturbing, this episode added slight of comedy which is amazing. Overall it was a great episode, the show is going somewhere.

Solid episode, a slower pace
animalcrossergamer24 January 2022
There wasn't a lot from Cal's introduction, missing motive of his character structure. It fell flat. It started to pick up once we make the focus back to Rue and the other high schoolers. Some scenes could've used some script revisions, as some scenes felt vacant and took me off the screen for a few moments. Not really any jarring cinematography except Rue's monologue at the start. Enjoyed Elliot dialogue and Lexi's narrative. Although this episode helps to crank up the stakes for some of character for the rest of the season, there wasn't much to take from. Being the weakest in the series and somewhat forgettable. Still I'm not giving up hope, its starting to get very interesting.

All fluff no substance
learningbreezee25 January 2022
Euphoria is probably the most creatively portrayed show out there. They killed it first season and first episode of season two, but now it feels like they are focused on being so "out there" and unique that they forgot about the plot of the series. I like the background on characters and Rue narrating. The rest is dull. These episodes are an hour long, but once it's over I'm like what did I even watch? Barely anything happened? Waste of time now.

A shiny bright diamond of an episode
goldenlampshade24 January 2022
Cal's opening backstory starts this fantastic eisode off to a fire racking start. You feel the sparks and the emotions from the awesome soundtrack that bleeds through the wracking tension between these friends. The opener had me at once in the heartwarming embrace of someone I love and the heartbreaking realities of lost potential. While I might've selfishly hoped Euphoria used all the tools in the toolbox to portray characters queer feelings and relationships as it does with the straight ones the dignity gained in Levinson's restraint allows for a perfectly bittersweet high school vignette that does the impossible in garnering empathy for Young Cal so I'll give it a pass.

The second best part of the episode had to be Dominic Fike as Elliot. The man is so unbelievably charismatic in a mysterious indie boy guitar strumming face tatted labeless perfect smile charming way I just love him and his character so much. Exciting to see where this all ends up.

Fantastic Episode - A+++
Antonovich8426 January 2022
Endlessly inventive and spectacularly shot and edited. The first 12 minutes of this episode alone made me lightheaded. But the entire episode is excellent. Levinson's best script -- from start to finish. His best directing so far. The episode pushes boundaries of sexual awareness, and is funny in an adult way. This is a great writer-director hitting his stride. I hope the whole second season stays like this.

ACTING
jakejring25 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Acting delivered this episode...Rue, Gia, Ali, Cassie. Jules and Elliot are an insanely interesting duo and their talk was so intimate and shocking. I wish we learned more from Cal's backstory but his arc investigating where the tape is / scenes with Fez, Ashtray, and Faye are a SERIES highlight. Also I love Laurie so much. This episode was so much stronger than episode 2!

Wow what an amazing montage of some of my favorite songs from the 80s. Gives nice insight into where Nate's dad came from. The music in this show is spot on. Show just keeps getting better and better.

WOW
funnycommentor4 March 2022
That show keep getting better and better! The plot of the 3rd episode was very nice. The storyline was well-written and the characters are very well-developed. Cal, was developed a lot on that episode, his backstory was very interesting. In my opinion, the love triangle between Maddy, Nate and Cassie it's so toxic. The acting was magnificent, especially Sydney's (Cassie). Also, I'm so glad Lexie has much more screening time. By the way, I feel so disappointed about Rue... Moreover, the soundtrack and the cinematography were LIT. Last but not least, the bathroom scene was the highlight of the episode. The ending scene was kinda shocking.

A Twisted John Hughes Mini-Movie
joserus6 February 2022
Warning: Spoilers
As a GenXer, I absolutely loved the first 15 minutes of this episode with Cal's backstory complete with a killer soundtrack. A sweet and innocent Molly Ringwald storyline which culminates in a long-awaited first kiss from two soulmates who deserve to live happily ever after, but just as fast as Cher can slap us across the face with "SNAP OUT OF IT!", we end with the scene of Jake Ryan getting the call from Caroline that she's pregnant with his baby and we remember what show we are watching where there can be no joy or happy endings (yet?) I have to confess that I replayed the first 15 minutes a few times, but stopped it just before the phone rings.

The next episode where Cal returns to the gay bar is especially heartbreaking and throws more cold water on episode 3's brief moment of optimism because Cal's not only missing Derek, but also lamenting his lost youth and the might-have-been. In another universe, Derek might have been waiting for him at the bar when he arrives as The Thompson Twins' "If You Were Here" plays on the juke box, but I digress.

*Footnote, the scene where he is thrown out of the bar is perhaps my favorite scene from the entire series, complete with disco ball.

Bit slow...
ioanaabogdan29 January 2023
... is this show ever gonna get a bit more captivating? It's just so slow and nothing really out of the ordinary is happening. I keep on watching it because of Rue, I like her character, but I just want to see her getting better and ending her toxic relationship with Jules. She deserves so much more. Don't know why she keeps ruining her life making dumb decisions. I sometimes feel like this show glorifies the use of drugs and I keep waiting for it to finally truly show some of the dangerous consequences of drug abuse. Instead they keep showing ways of getting away with it. Truly hope I am not wasting my time with this show...

Amazing opening scene
tco10125 January 2022
Just because of the opening scene with Cal and Derek, this episode is amazing. Extremely well played by Elias Kacavas and Henry Eikenberry, and a lot of things about Nat's dad later in his life, suddenly makes good sence. In my opinion maybe the best gay lovescene since Brokeback Mountain, or the Norwegian "SKAM" TV series. Well done guys! You will be in high demand in Hollywood now.

[7.05] Every day at 4am!
cjonesas23 June 2022
Warning: Spoilers
Episode 3: The amount of mumbo jumbo going on is just staggering. Other than that, good set of scores played horribly random and not specifically right for the mood of the moment, some shallow and deep situations alike, good to very good puppet acting and the feel that not one cop, not ONE cop is present in those neighborhoods.

In fact, near nobody's present in those streets aside the clowns ruling there.

Who cares?
ygorescabral-8948024 January 2022
Warning: Spoilers
They're trying to turn Cal into one of the main characters, probably halfway through the series they found out that Nate's villain story isn't that great.

Apparently they also discovered that Kat has no plot at all.

Maddy doesn't have plot far from Nate, so the show has brought them together again.

Cassie had no plot too, so they put her in the middle of this relationship so the character wouldn't just walk around crying and doing nothing all year.

Rue became the dumbest and most inconsequential character in the entire show. She became a caricature of herself. Bad.

Fezco and Lexi very underused. They're the best thing of the season, but then the show just decides not to talk about that in this episode and instead gives them separate improvised little stories that no one cares about. Who cares about Faye?

This show turned into a teen drama, but with d-cks, t-ts and drugs all over the place to get attention.
