From nuns and handmaids to webslingers and oversexualized teens, Sydney Sweeney has done a fantastic job in her decade and a half of acting.
While she has been dubbed a sex symbol, that title doesn't even begin to define the actress's range of skill when it comes to dramatic roles.
Having amassed 22 awards nominations and securing three wins, primarily for her breakout role in Euphoria, the actress has become a mainstay in the entertainment industry.
Though she's been acting since 2009, it wasn't until recently that she started blowing up the news circuits with her career-defining performances.
One thing that can be said about the actress is that she takes every opportunity to elevate her characters as far as possible.
Here, we've assembled a set of Sweeney's most notable television and film roles. From comedy to horror to gritty drama, the actress is not limiting her role choices.

"Abigail" is hitting theaters this weekend, bringing audiences a new vampire film to sink their teeth into. With that in mind, we're turning to the granddaddy of all vampires, Dracula! There are a lot of Dracula movies. Too many to Count, in fact (pun intended). Dracula has been to space ("Dracula 3000"). Dracula has turned out to be Judas Iscariot ("Dracula 2000"). Dracula has been to the Old West ("Billy the Kid Versus Dracula").
Hell, Dracula has been with us more or less since horror movies began (with the unauthorized adaptation "Nosferatu"). With that in mind, it's probably impossible to make a comprehensive list of every Dracula movie. So we're not even going to try to do that. Instead, we're going to list the five best Dracula movies, ranked. With so many Drac-centric flicks out there, any list like this is bound to be controversial. If your personal favorite Dracula movie didn't make the list,...

Dan Wallin, the music scoring engineer who recorded such classic film scores as “Spartacus,” “Bullitt,” “The Wild Bunch” and “Out of Africa,” died early Wednesday in Hawaii. He was 97.
Twice Oscar-nominated for best sound (1970’s “Woodstock” and 1976’s “A Star Is Born”), he won a 2009 Emmy for sound mixing on the Academy Awards telecast and received two additional Emmy nominations in the sound mixing category.
But it was Wallin’s skill behind the console, recording and mixing musical scores for movies and TV, that won him legions of fans among nearly all of Hollywood’s top composers and ensured steady employment for more than half a century.
He recorded the music for an estimated 500 films, including those for “Bonnie and Clyde,” “Cool Hand Luke” and “Finian’s Rainbow” in the 1960s; “The Way We Were,” “Blazing Saddles,” “Nashville,” “King Kong” and “Saturday Night Fever” in the 1970s; “Somewhere in Time,” “The Right Stuff...

Amazon is looking to increase the amount of streaming ads it offers, and its streaming platform MGM+ could be next to see ads invade its interface.
As streaming services go, MGM+ tends to skate under the radar a bit. The streamer is owned by Amazon, but is typically an afterthought when discussing that company’s other streaming platforms like Prime Video, Freevee and even Twitch. In fact, during Amazon’s conference call with Wall Street analysts to discuss its quarterly earnings report, MGM+ was not even mentioned by Amazon executives. Nevertheless, subscribers would be smart to anticipate big changes to the streamer in the near future, specifically in its decision to thus far not to include ads on the platform.
Amazon CFO Brian Olsavsky told analysts his company wants to increase advertising in its streaming properties. Prime Video converted all customers to ad-supported unless they pay to go ad-free on Jan.

Barry Keoghan has been on a serious upswing over the past several years, truly kicking off his current run with a disturbing performance in Killing of a Sacred Deer and Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk before hitting a steady stream of everything from period dramas to Marvel entries to even playing The Joker. His latest film, Saltburn, has become a major hit for Prime Video, with it one of the most memed-movies ever on TikTok. But his promising future could have been cut short after he contracted a flesh-eating disease that kills one in five of those who catch it.
Barry Keoghan caught necrotizing fasciitis just before filming on The Banshees of Inisherin began, prompting him to head to the hospital and ask his doctors if he was going to die. They weren’t sure but even if he did make it through, it was possible they would have to amputate his arm.

In its third season, "Yellowstone" did something unusual: it included an in-memoriam title card for an actor who had never worked on the show. The star in question was Wilford Brimley, the former Western actor who appeared in touchstones of the genre like "True Grit," "Gore Vidal's Billy the Kid," "Lawman," and more. Though Brimley hadn't actually appeared on Taylor Sheridan's wildly popular Montana-set drama before he died in 2020, he still earned a farewell note within the show. "In loving memory of Wilford Brimley," a title card accompanying the penultimate episode of season 3 read, continuing: "A cowboy, an artist, and a damn good friend."
There don't seem to be any links between "Yellowstone" and Brimley, aside from the fact that the former clearly takes inspiration from classic Westerns like those the legendary actor starred in throughout the 20th century. Series star Kevin Costner never acted alongside Brimley and...

Tom Blyth is set to follow in the footsteps of Gary Cooper, Rock Hudson and George Hamilton to star in Michael Winterbottom’s new adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s classic novel A Farewell to Arms.
Fremantle, Winterbottom’s production company Revolution Films and Passenger are joining forces on the production.
The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes and Billy the Kid star Blyth will play volunteer ambulance driver Frederic Henry, who is wounded and falls in love with his nurse in Italy during World War One.
Published in 1929, A Farewell To Arms is inspired by Hemingway’s own experiences as a volunteer ambulance driver with the Italian Army on the Isonzo Front.

Peaky Blinders producer Caryn Mandabach Productions (Cmp) is developing a historical drama series with End of the F***ing World director Jonathan Entwistle.
Civil Blood will be set in 17th century England, following the adventures of a young woman growing up in a time of war. Billed as a “mash-up of coming-of-age story with high-stakes action and world-changing ideas,” the project is written by Cat Clarke and Michael Hirst, and is based on an original idea by the pair with Dario Poloni.
The show is in the latter stages of development, according to Cmp.
Historical TV pioneer Hirst’s past credits include Vikings, Billy the Kid and the Oscar-nominated Elizabeth, while Clarke wrote on Good Omens and Ten Percent. Entwistle developed and directed Channel 4/Netflix hit The End of the F***ing World. He is also directing the new Karate Kid movie and worked on Netflix’s I Am Not Okay With This...

As portrayed by Donald Sutherland in the original “Hunger Games” film trilogy 10 years ago, President Coriolanus Snow is about as fearsomely wretched as villains come — a heartless, dystopian dictator who stops at nothing to keep the haves empowered above the have-nots.
As portrayed by 28-year-old British actor Tom Blyth in director Francis Lawrence’s new prequel feature, “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes,” Snow is a Capitol teen forced to reluctantly exist in a world where violence is a means of survival — full of heart but little grit, measured book smarts but sheltered naivety.
It’s after meeting a tribute at the 10th Hunger Games, a singer from the lower districts named Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler), that the young Coriolanus must decide whether to push back on the pillars of fatal inequities that keep the world he knows intact, or to embrace them for the dangling...

Long before there was a Katniss Everdeen, future victor of the Hunger Games and Panem’s No. 1 revolutionary icon, there was Lucy Gray Baird — a young woman who also hailed from District 12 and found herself recruited as a tribute in a fascist world’s annual entertainment death march. She had a beautiful voice, a steel backbone, and enough wits to have the odds ever in her favor for the 10th edition of the Hunger Games. They were a little different back then — no one had figured out how to employ...

The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes substitutes a songstress for a huntress and the morally compromised, bankrupt scion of a once powerful Capital family for the heroic endeavors of The Hunger Games’ Peeta and Gale. A prequel set decades before Katniss entered the arena, Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes is, at its core, an examination of why the Hunger Games exists.
What is the purpose of this gruesome spectacle? Can this annual butchering of children be justified as an effective method of keeping District rebels in check? Is there any moral justification for something as barbaric as pitting innocent children against each other in a fight to the death?
Those questions are woven into the film (just as they are in Suzanne...

Tom Blyth is tired, but he’s doing a good job of hiding it. When the star of “The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” sits down with Variety via Zoom, SAG-AFTRA is still on strike, and it’s been six short days since the Lionsgate thriller received an in- terim agreement from the guild.
That means the press tour leading up to the long-anticipated release, typically spread across several months, has been condensed to just two weeks. But Blyth is animated as he talks about landing the role of Coriolanus Snow in the prequel tale, which explores how a poor young man with a revolutionary spirit eventually becomes the vicious dictator of Panem.
“When I got the call, I was ec- static for a moment,” recalls Blyth, 28, who is best known as the titular character in the MGM+ series “Billy the Kid.” “And then I was like,...

Spoiler Alert: The following review contains mild spoilers.
Amusing ourselves to death. That’s what media critic Neil Postman called the phenomenon that “The Hunger Games” author Suzanne Collins took to its natural extreme, penning a dystopian YA trilogy whose four-film adaptation minted Lionsgate nearly $3 billion at the global box office. Much like “Harry Potter,” the book series whose Hollywood success made this franchise possible, the big-screen adaptations took a few false steps before hitting their stride with a single director — in this case, Francis Lawrence — who now returns to helm a prequel (far better than the “Fantastic Beasts” movies) that impressively expands the canon while honoring its key themes.
“The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes” feels like a natural extension of the saga, balancing blood sport, endangered young love and a heightened level of political commentary that respects the intelligence of young audiences as only Collins can.

The previous episode of Billy The Kid ended with John Tunstall’s death, followed by a celebration in the town of Lincoln. Though Murphy and Riley rejoiced at the death, Edgar Walz was worried about Billy being alive. His fear was justifiable because Billy had sworn to avenge Tunstall’s death. Billy killed Morton and Baker in retaliation for their role in Tunstall’s death. The Lincoln War intensified after a major death, and the warring groups had to come up with a strong plan to maintain their grip over the town.

The Lincoln County War has begun in earnest now.

It's helpful to have an experienced outlaw in your ranks.
All the ranchers and farmers that make up the Regulators wanted to lay low until the heat died down.
But there's a problem with that logic. They're up against the corrupt forces of the justice system in New Mexico in the form of the Santa Fe Ring. The heat was never going to die down.
It soon became evident how true that was as Alexander McSween, the lawyer who switched sides from Major Murphy to Tunstall, became a target of The House.
McSween informed Billy and the Regulators they were all now wanted men thanks to Billy's execution of Baker and Morton, two of the posse members who had killed Tunstall.

Billy's new direction in life didn't last all that long.
His moving over to the side of right didn't prevent tragedy from striking on Billy the Kid Season 2 Episode 3.
And Billy's extreme sense of righteousness was sure to take him the rest of the way back to the wrong side of the law.
The problematic part about basing a TV series on historical events is that any viewer with Google can essentially predict the narrative.
Also, there was a reason that William Bonney never became Billy the Conflicted Middle-Aged Adult. This is a show with a historically built-in expiration date, unlike one built around a fictional character.
That's a shame because Tom Blyth's Billy is an enjoyably complex character who viewers got to watch grow up over the series' first season.

We got a rare glimpse into Billy the Philosopher.
Billy spent at least as much time pondering as gunslinging on Billy the Kid Season 2 Episode 2.
It was definitely a different approach to a man seen first and foremost as an outlaw.
First came Billy's ode to gunplay while he and Charlie were attempting to teach Tom O'Folliard, still likely to be an early casualty in the upcoming Lincoln County War, how to shoot. He punctuated that with a show of marksmanship.
Next, Billy became a surprise early proponent of women's rights. Then again, maybe that wasn't so surprising, as he had a robust role model in his mother, Kathleen.
Billy felt Dulcinea had some 'splainin' to do after he spotted her being affectionate with a man on Billy the Kid Season 2 Episode 1.
He must have felt dumber than usual around Dulcinea when she explained that it had been her brother.

In addition to Christmas, we’ve got the Billions finale, Fellow Travelers, and 30 Coins, among other things. Find out what we recommend you watch this week.
Saturday, October 21
8/7c Where Are You, Christmas? (Hallmark)

Where Are You, Christmas paints the picture using the colorless world that we wouldn’t want to experience. This will be a Hallmark movie to remember!
8/7c Twas the Text Before Christmas (Gaf)
Texting doesn’t exactly elicit the warm fuzzies, but this Great American Family original aims to prove otherwise.

Billy had taken a stand that would change the dynamics of the war. Lawrence Murphy was willing to take up the fight without Billy on their side. The trigger point of the war is what the first episode is about.
