Evil in the City on a Hill
douglasmcbroom4 September 2022
In Jackie Rohr, Kevin Bacon has created one of the most interesting and complex characters in series history. Of course, the writers as well. Daily, he fights a raging battle between good and evil...within himself. He is truly his own worst enemy. But, with DeCourcy's (Aldis Hodge) help, he's about to try and slay the dragon, within and without, once again.

Jenny Rohr, richly portrayed by Jill Hennessy, is a woman who has no filter and puts all her business in the street for anyone who will listen, except for the story of the abuse she suffered from her father. This is a horror she is going to have to confront.

Siobhan (Lauren Banks) is not coping well and has lost her confidence and her swagger. We also find out why we spent an entire previous episode dealing with a seemingly incongruous blast-from-the-past, LuLu. Well LuLu's back in town.

We also have, in Father Doyle (Mark Ryder), a very sexually-confused Priest, or former Priest. We're not really sure yet whether he is on leave or has really left the Church. I don't think he knows either.

The writing continues to be outstanding. This series refuses to dumb it down and play to a common denominator. This is an adult show that portrays life/characters in all of their messy glory. The actors run with that color scheme of shades of grey, not black and white.
