Competent thriller that left me baffled whether i should look up more on protagonist or antagonist. Pil Gam-sung's directorial debut got some intense fight and car chase scenes while enhanced by Jung-min's credible acting as a fanfiction character.

Korean thriller movies are giving me what Hollywood is missing these past few years. Hollywood turned to superhero movies while Korea comes out with original movies that are rare nowadays. And you won't be disappointed if you like Korean thriller. It's not perfect. Some situations are super dumb. But all that matter is that you'll spend a good time watching this.
Just ok

The movie was ticking along quite well than it just went all stupid in the last 10-20mins. Was going to give it a much higher score but the last 10mins were just silly and i mean silly especially from the police side of things. You'll see what i mean when you watch it without giving it away.
Some tense, some illogical, some bored old story

I can give max 6/10 and wonder why its nominated when there is more better movies. Bribed? Relation boosted?
The story was simple same as other kidnap stories, nothing new and no creativity at all. Some casts are not good, bad acting.
I will not recommend to pay for this movie.

Does the job

A novel feature from South Korea, starring that country's megastar Hwang Jung Min as himself! Although the concept was novel for me, this actually turns out to be a remake of a Chinese film starring Andy Lau that I haven't seen, called SAVING MR WU. The story is simplicity in itself: Jung Min finds himself kidnapped by a violent criminal gang and has to use his wiles to turn the tables on his kidnappers. The outside, police procedural scenes play out as suspensefully as the hostage scenario itself, and the actors give typically good performances (especially the girl from SQUID GAME, who I'm very fond of). It's not a perfect film, coming across as predictable at times, but like much Korean cinema, it does the job.
Korean movies are king...

Passable entertainment... Not much more.

South Korean superstar, Hwang Jung-min, plays himself in a movie about a celebrity kidnapping for ransom. It is based off a true story that occurred in China back in 2004. The film is somewhat pedestrian, never quite delivering the thrills it intends. It is merely passable entertainment and nothing more.
Simply Wow!!

What's not to love? Insane levels of violence and Lee Ho-Jung's C cup! Gripping non stop momentum that shifts from tension to action to tension over and over again. No nude scenes but oodles of over the top Korean violence.
