It's a miracle Peter Berg's "Hancock" exists at all.
The revisionist Will Smith superhero flick began life in 1996 as a spec screenplay by Vy Vincent Ngo called "Tonight, He Comes." The tale of a surly, alcoholic antihero was way ahead of its time; it was a refutation of comic book movies that weren't being made in the absurd volume we're seeing today. It was also startlingly original, which prompted no less an A-lister than Tony Scott to acquire it as a potential directing project. It was one of the hottest scripts in Hollywood, and, for six solid years, it went absolutely nowhere.
"Tonight, He Comes" nearly went before cameras in the early 2000s under the direction of Michael Mann, then nearly came to fruition with the likes of Jonathan Mostow and Gabriele Muccino at the helm. Vince Gilligan and John August were brought in to rework the script in...

The 2022 Oscars were certainly one for the history books.
With multiple historic wins — “Coda” star Troy Kotsur becoming the first deaf man to win an acting award, and Jane Campion becoming the third woman to win Best Director, among others — and plenty of viral moments, the Academy Awards outdid themselves once again by becoming, well, undone.
As Jessica Chastain scooped up Best Actress for “The Eyes of Tammy Faye” and Ariana DeBose followed Rita Moreno’s historic footsteps and won for playing Anita in “West Side Story,” and Will Smith landed his first Oscar for “King Richard,” Hollywood’s biggest night was full of starry surprises.
And “Coda”‘s unprecedented Best Picture win cemented Apple TV+ as a cutting-edge streamer, with the platform becoming the first to take home the night’s top prize.

There might actually be people that say “No, please, just, no” to the idea of a Hancock 2 film since no matter if anyone liked it or not the film was kind of ‘blah’ when you think of Will Smith and how he usually is in his movies. The few glimmers of hope the movie had in it weren’t quite enough to keep it from being derailed by its own story and just about forgotten until someone decides to give voice to it once again. As Will Smith movies go it was perhaps one of the most underwhelming despite the

Patrick Radden Keefe's New Yorker story "The Hunt for El Chapo" is a terrifying, bizarre, and occasionally funny look at modern drug trafficking. Delving into the lavish world of Joaquín Guzmán Loera, the leader of Mexico’s Sinaloa cartel, Keefe finds a quirky character pulling strings for a murderous bunch who love their Instagram. The DEA manhunt for Loera, that ended this past February, lasted a decade. The best kingpins can live a life of luxury and still avert paramilitary. Loera was the best of the best. Those are the types that get movies made about their lives. The Hollywood Reporter reports that Universal has picked up the rights to "El Chapo," for its "Lone Survivor" director Peter Berg to helm. After that gritty military war film earned more than franchise wannabe "Battleship," the studio is in a position to let Berg do whatever the heck he wants. He’ll...

Whatcha gonna do when they come for you? Hand over your money and sit your ass down, that’s what. Bad Boys 3 is happening, according to Martin Lawrence. Appearing on Conan, Lawrence was asked if a third movie was going to happen to which he replied “I believe so. Yes. I just talked to Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said its real, they’re working on the script, they’re getting close and it all looks good.” So, it may be happening. With no official green light status, this could be hanging in limbo for quite some time. And that’s even before you think about Will Smith’s involvement. Whether or not big willie wants some bad boy action again, remains to be seen. With a number of movies in production for the fresh prince, including Selling Time, Hancock 2 and The American Can, the actor is certainly...

Will Smith has teamed up with Sony Pictures to produce a film adaptation of the upcoming graphic novel Harlem Hellfighters.
Written by Max Brooks, the graphic novel is inspired by the true story of the all African-American 369th Infantry Regiment which fought in the Us Army during World Wars I and II.
Brooks is best known for writing the book World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War, which was adapted into last year's successful zombie horror movie starring Brad Pitt.
According to Shadow and Act, Smith has struck a deal with Sony, which owns the rights to the graphic novel, to produce a live-action film.
There is no word yet on whether Smith also plans to star in the new adaptation.
He is already thought to be attached to several films in the works, including Brilliance, Focus, Hancock 2, and Bad Boys 3.

The Fast & Furious franchise hit a new gear with 2011′s Fast Five when it added in Dwayne Johnson as the anti-Diesel. The addition of the Rock was a net positive for all involved, and this year’s Furious 6 followed suit, with a sequel-teasing mid-credits sequence that introduced a very familiar antagonist for the next film. Universal is bullish on the future of the franchise — understandable, since the sixth film has grossed a franchise-high $740 million so far. It makes sense that they would already be looking towards the future. And if the current hot rumor is to be believed, they’re setting their sights high.

"Independence Day" is finally getting the sequel fans have awaited for nearly two decades, but its biggest star won't be coming along for the ride.
Will Smith, whose role in the 1996 alien-invasion blockbuster helped propel him to megastardom, will not be appearing in "Independence Day 2," director Roland Emmerich told the New York Daily News on Saturday. "He's too expensive," Emmerich lamented.
That admission comes hot on the heels of Thursday's announcement that 20th Century Fox would be bringing the highly anticipated sequel to big screens on July 3, 2015. The news capped more than a decade of speculation about the long-gestating sequel, but it was not immediately clear whether or not Smith would be involved. That uncertainty wouldn't last long.
"Will Smith can not come back because he's too expensive," Emmerich told the Daily News, "but he'd also be too much of a marquee name."
"It would be too much," he said.

Will Smith does not like when his movie opens in anything less than first-place, so much so that we may not be seeing him in a blockbuster any time soon.
The actor we've come to know as a blockbuster staple revealed in a recent interview with Digital Spy that he's considering moving away from big-budget movies. Speaking of "After Earth" Smith said, "It's been an absolute necessity that the movie be a blockbuster, but I think I'm going to start moving out of that and finding more danger in my artistic choices."
The only dangerous artistic choice the Fresh Prince has made of late was the aforementioned "After Earth," which opened at No. 3 this past weekend with only $27 million. In the Digital Spy interview, which apparently took place before the weekend ended, Smith said that his biggest filmmaking fear was, "the movie opening at No. 2."

One of America's most popular actors can only scrape in at No 3 with his latest film – is the Smith era officially over?
It is not too often that a Will Smith movie fails to open at No 1 so make a note of the weekend just past, when After Earth arrived in third place on $27m. With the exception of last year's cash-in Men in Black III, Smith has been off our movie screens since the self-righteous train wreck that was Seven Pounds in 2008. Perhaps he should have stayed away, because the box-office career of the man once known as Mr July 4th in homage to his seemingly inexhaustible multiplex magnetism could be in its death throes.
Men in Black III opened at No 1 in May 2012 and did extremely well in theatres, grossing $624m worldwide by the end of its run. Cast iron proof of Smith's enduring appeal, you might say.

Sequels, prequels, reboots and reduxes. The good, the bad, and the downright ugly of those being made… Some we still have no idea what they’re about, or if they will be made, but they are rumoured – chances are, [hopefully] they *won’t* be made.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey- December 14th, 2012
It’s not really a sequel, but rather a prequel which features the cast of The Lord of the Rings in an expanded version of the classic book.
A Good Day to Die Hard- February 14th, 2013
Rumored to be the final in the Die Hard series, Bruce Willis must fight Russian terrorists in Russia with his son.
Oz: The Great and Powerful- March 8th, 2013
This will actually be a prequel to the 1939 classic, depicting the story of how Oz came to be.

This could be confirmation to the rumors that Will Smith is working to resurrect his rap career. The actor-producer-director took the mic for a seemingly impromptu performance at Gabrielle Union's birthday bash.
Backed up by Doug E. Fresh, Smith ran through a melody of snippets, including bits of his radio hit with DJ Jazzy Jeff, "Summertime" and the theme song from his hit 90's sitcom, "The Fresh Prince of Bel Air." Isn't it nice to see an artist embrace his roots, rather than shunning the very moments in his career that were stepping stones to his gigantic success?
Not to worry though; even if Will goes full force back into rap, he's far from leaving his lucrative film career behind. Along with some rumored directorial projects on the horizon, Smith is slated for starring roles in "Hancock 2," "Bad Boys 3" and "I, Robot 2." Cha-ching!

Movies used to be gold standard for actors, with George Clooney, Tom Hanks and Leonardo DiCaprio leaving the small screen for the big to achieve great professional and financial success.
However, times are changing, and many actors who left TV to work in movies are coming back, including Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams and Michael J. Fox. Due to the addition of cable and subscription-based original programming, better roles are being created that will give actors a chance for the recognition, awards and job security that movies no longer provide. Just look at Claire Danes, who returned to TV to star in Showtime’s Homeland, for which she’s nominated for an Emmy.
There are several actors who should return to TV, but not all of them will. Take a look at the top 10 TV stars who’ve left TV but should return:

After Will Smith went back and forth recently about returning for another go round with many of his franchises (from Mib to I Am Legend, somehow), we have some speculation concerning Hancock 2 that came from an interview with MTV. Director Peter Berg, who shepherded the first Hancock to the screen, along with the recent bomb Battleship, had this to say about the distinct possibility:
“Will Smith is up for any challenge, and he’s definitely up for discussing it. Whether or not that all comes out and equals us actually doing it is never known, but it’s something that we’ve talked about…We kicked some ideas around. I think we all would like to do it, it’s just a question of getting everybody free at the same time. I think it’s not just Will, but the producers and the studio. We all loved doing Hancock.

"Men in Black 3" scored a worldwide tally of $578 million and counting after opening earlier this summer. If the result tells us one thing loudly and clearly, it's this: Will Smith is back, after a way-too-long four-year hiatus from starring in movies.
Smith already has his first post-"Mib" picture lined up in the form of M. Night Shyamalan's "After Earth." But there's another one of his many franchises that fans are dying to see him return to as a "Black" follow-up: "Hancock." The alcoholic god remains one of Smith's most memorable turns in the past decade, and several parties involved — Smith included — have expressed optimism about seeing him return to the role.
In the latest "Hancock 2" update, would-be director Peter Berg told MTV News: "Will Smith is up for any challenge, and he's definitely up for discussing it."

A few months back the word on the movie street was that Will Smith was all ramped up to produce and star in post-apocalyptic sequel 'I Am Legend 2'. But according to BBC news it doesn't appear that the 'Men in Black III' actor is particularly involved at this stage. Arash Amel is currently penning the script which it appears that Smith himself hasn't yet clapped eyes on but in his brief statement he mentions that he doesn't want to become the sequel guy. And what with the recent release of 'MIB3' amongst other rumoured sequels in the pipeline such as 'Hancock 2', 'I, Robot 2', 'Bad Boys 3' perhaps Smith should bypass another repeat performance. Of course if Smith did return no-one can be certain as to what capacity it would be in due to the demise of his character in the first movie.

I Am Legend: “Producers are working on it….I’m not actually working on it. If it’s great, I’m into it…” But the chance that he’ll get involved looks bleak. Of course, his chances of survival looked bleak to nonexistent at the end of I Am Legend, so that makes sense.

Though the last several years have seen producers scramble to find a way to further franchise Will Smith beyond merely commissioning more of his children, Smith himself isn’t all that into it: "I don't want to be the sequel guy," Smith said while promoting Men In Black 3, the irony of his statement further compounded by the allowance that he "isn't ruling out" Men In Black 4, Bad Boys 3, or Hancock 2. If IMDb is to be believed, the star of Men in Black 1, 2 and 3 has plans to make Hancock 2, Bad Boys 3 and I, Robot 2. Which films do you want to see Smith revisit?
It's never the most reliable of indicators but, if IMDb is to be believed, Will Smith is going to spend the next few years dwelling exclusively on well-trodden ground. Back in 2007, "I Am Legend" grossed $585 million worldwide for Warner Bros. Costing only $150 million -- kinda modest for a major tentpole these days -- the Will Smith-starring post-apocalyptic actioner also grossed $126.2 million in DVD revenue, making it the sixth best-selling DVD of 2008. Not too shabby, right? Plus, the film plays on cable all the time and those rights must have also cost a pretty penny. So in the logical, brand-obsessed bean-counting world of Hollywood, a sequel would seem like a natural move.
But five years is practically a decade in tentpole years, and very little movement has taken place over the years. Making matters worse (and potentially squashing a potential franchise) in a recent interview with the BBC (via Movies.com), the actor said he would "probably not" be involved in any subsquent film.

With his Men In Black III crossing the $500 million worldwide gross mark today, Will Smith‘s return after a four-year absence can at least be considered a financial success. As he recently wrapped M. Night Shyamalan‘s sci-fi epic After Earth, the actor has yet to decide on his next project. With new reports, one thing is for certain: it won’t likely be a follow-up to his 2007 hit I Am Legend.
Talk of a sequel to Francis Lawrence‘s post-apocalyptic drama has sprouted up regularly, most recently as early as this year, when WB confirmed a deal was closed to develop the film and intentions to get Smith to return to role as Robert Neville. Since he was a scientist who sacrifices himself for the betterment of humankind during the finale, the major question is how they will continue the story as it is reportedly “not being called a prequel.

It's been 15 years since Will Smith first donned those shades and started chasing aliens in Men In Black.
And although the square afro that he first stepped into the limelight with as The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air may be long gone, there's no sign of greying on the 43-year-old, who seems to have the energy levels of his just-teenage children Jaden and Willow.

Film Review: Despite Rihanna, Peter Berg’s ‘Battleship’ Lands as One of the Best Popcorn Flicks Ever
Chicago – “Battleship” certainly could simplistically be reduced to a 131-minute propaganda piece of why you might want to enlist in the U.S. Navy – that is, if Earth had to ward off lizard-like creatures from a deep-space solar system we can only reach by slingshotting a highly amplified “What’s up, aliens?” broadcast to them.
Rating: 4.0/5.0
And “Battleship,” which is rock-concert loud and lacks in strategically placed comedy, definitely will regret going down in history as being the first to offer the already rich, famous and slutty singer Rihanna a wasted, feature-film launching pad when she – like many other musicians before her (read: Britney, Mariah, etc.) – should simply stick to singing and (pole) dancing.
Thanks to “Battleship,” Rihanna has already been cast in 2013’s “The End of the World” with Seth Rogen and may even appear in 2013’s “The Fast and the Furious 6”. (We seriously need as many “Fast and Furious...

Although the always optimistic and energetic Peter Berg recently told us that he has high hopes for further development with a "Hancock" sequel, his equally hopeful-but-more-realistic-minded star Will Smith said we'll likely be waiting a long time for that film to ever come together.
"This is a world where entertainment is consumed on so many different levels that sequels and all those ancillary products and that stuff are always in the working," Smith told MTV News during the "Men In Black 3" press day recently when asked for an update on the sequel. "There are so many outlets now that need to be filled, so I think that producers are always discussing those things."
"It's something I would be interested in," he continued. "But it's not actually in the works as of yet."
So there you have it! Not that this comes as a huge surprise, given the very busy...

While promoting "Battleship," director Peter Berg answered a few questions about "Hancock 2," which he has been talking about ever since the first one grossed $624 million back in 2008. "There was a phone call. That's movement. We had a phone call last week and [producer] Akiva [Goldsman] and Will Smith were on the phone. Everyone's got ideas, and everyone seems energized," said Berg. "Everywhere we go around the world, ['Hancock'] is really loved. In Korea and Russia and Tokyo and Australia, all over Europe, everyone wants to know about it, so it's definitely got us thinking." Berg previously revealed that he would like to further explore the relationship between Smith and Charlize Theron's characters. "We're looking at exploring their relationship prior to when we first met them and seeing a bit of what happened as a prequel," he explained. "I think we danced around the concept of an origins and we settled on something that is very substantive.

With director Peter Berg making the media rounds in support of his upcoming summer blockbuster "Battleship," there's plenty of talk about the nuts and bolts of the action-packed blockbuster that isn't "Transformers at sea", but also a few updates about the other projects Berg has cookin', like "Hancock 2."
"There was a phone call. That’s movement. We had a phone call last week and [producer] Akiva [Goldsman] and Will Smith were on the phone. Everyone's got ideas, and everyone seems energized," Berg said.
"It's very encouraging. I'm just coming off a world tour for 'Battleship.' Will's coming off a world tour for 'Men In Black.' Everywhere we go around the world, ['Hancock'] is really loved," he continued. "In Korea and Russia and Tokyo and Australia, all over Europe, everyone wants to know about it, so it's definitely gotten us thinking."

Hollywood loves its sequels, and we’ve got the proof here. Meet the 105 sequels at various stages of production, and a further 17 that seem to have died.
It’s been nearly five years since we started doing our annual round-ups of the current movie sequels that are in the works, and this year marks the longest list of all. Furthermore, what the 105 we've rounded up here doesn’t include are the projects that we suspect might have been lost to development hell, which we’ve detailed down at the bottom. Hollywood does love its follow-ups.
The projects that we do talk about here each have some chance of happening, and we’ve done a release date cut off of films due after October 2012 at the earliest. Thus, this summer’s collection of sequels – including The Dark Knight Rises, Madagascar 3, Ice Age 4, G.I. Joe 2, The Expendables 2, American Pie: The Reunion,...

The French website, CineHeroes had a chat with director Peter Berg recently and one of the topics of discussion was Hancock 2. Here's what Berg had to say. Translation from BleedingCool.com: This should be done. We are in talks. Once our respective projects will be finished, that Will Smith is finished with Men In Black 3, once I’m done with Battleship and Lone Survivor, we will. I talked with Will Smith, he is always ready. Of course, Will Smith is also in talks to star in another sequel [or prequel, if you're being technical] to one of his blockbusters, I Am Legend. Time will tell whether this proves to come to fruition as the schedule Berg creates puts the Hancock 2 start date pretty far from now and in Hollywood, a number of things could pop-up to derail the project between now and then. The film earned $624,386,746 at the box-office...

Way back in 2008 we were hearing all sorts of whispers about a potential sequel being prepped to follow-up the Will Smith action horror 'I Am Legend'. Well now it finally looks to be moving forward with Smith on board in both a starring and producing capacity. The Hollywood Reporter have revealed that Arash Amel has been signed up to pen the sequel. Smith is involved in an entire stack of other potential sequels including 'Hancock 2', 'I, Robot 2', 'Bad Boys 3' and of course Barry Sonnenfeld's 'Men in Black III' due for release this May so perhaps things are financially tight at the Smith household this year. At one stage rumours were that any follow-up would have been a prequelisation more so than an actual sequel especially due to the fact that Smith's character Dr. Robert Neville didn't survive the original...

So do you remember four and a bit years ago when the post-apocalyptic blockbuster I Am Legend made an incredible $584 million for Warner Bros, who were so bewilderingly pleased with how the film performed that they went ahead and announced a sequel to star Will Smith?
But there was a problem they forgot…. Will Smith’s character Robert Neville died in the original and the few screenwriters they have hired in the intervening years, such as Game of Thrones’ D.B. Weiss, could never figure out how to bring the character back from the dead that made sense.
It was a huge shame for Warner Bros because the original was a gold mine, they had a concept that could have spawned a franchise, and Will Smith enjoyed being in a movie where the whole attention was on him, a proper starring vehicle if there ever was one, and he talked glowingly...

Lately, it seems that Will Smith is into the sequel business - Men In Black III will be hitting theaters May 25th, Hancock director Peter Berg has said that there are approximately 40 different ideas for a potential Hancock 2, and for the longest time, Warner Bros. has been trying to figure out a way to make a sequel to one of Smith's biggest blockbusters, I Am Legend. The film, which was released in 2007, made $585 million worldwide.
Beware Of Spoilers
The film ends with Smith's character, Dr. Robert Neville, sacrificing himself to protect the lives of a mother and her son. They continue on to a protected human colony, where the mother gives those in charge the antidote that Neville was developing. In this way, the movie explains, he becomes legend. Early in 2008, the studio was trying to make up their mind to make either a prequel (which would allow Smith to return) or a sequel,...

Ever since the first film made $584 million worldwide in 2007 there have been rumors of a follow-up to the Will Smith starrer I Am Legend based on Richard Matheson's novel. Considering the way the theatrical film ended, we're most likely looking at a prequel story as Deadline.com reports Akiva Goldsman and Overbrook Entertainment have just closed a deal to develop a new film based on the material, bringing back Smith as scientist Robert Neville, who in the first film was believed to be the last survivor on Earth following a terrible virus that either wiped out the population or turned them all into mutants. Aresh Amel (Grace Of Monaco) is penning the script. There's no word if Francis Lawrence, director of the first installment, is on board to return, but last May he did talk to MTV about the potential for a prequel saying, "No, I don't think that's ever going to happen.

The last thing we heard about Peter Berg's Hancock 2 was that everyone involved with the first film is willing to come back and make the film and that Will Smith came up with the initial story idea. Now Berg is saying they have come up with about 40 different story ideas!
It sounds like everyone is excited about doing it, so at this point it all comes down to getting everyone's schedule to line up. Here's what the director had to say in a recent interview with MTV:
I've talked to Will Smith about it several times. We're just all busy, you know? It sounds lame, but we're busy and it's hard to get everybody in the same room. Will's got his career and he's obviously very close with his children and their careers are taking off and if we can all figure out a way to get in...

Despite lots of interest, "Hancock 2" has yet to take flight. Back in 2009, screenwriters were hired and the cast of Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman seemed back on board, but the movie stalled out due to scheduling issues.
Recently, there's been a renewed interest in the project. Director Peter Berg let it slip that Smith had some great new ideas for the sequel that the two of them had been toying around with. MTV News caught up with Berg recently while he was promoting his new film "Battleship" to try to get the record straight. Turns out a "Hancock 2" will definitely happen ... if he and Smith are able to actually meet with one another.

Though it was not based on a well-known comic book character and didn't have a built-in audience of fans to draw upon, director Peter Berg's tale of an immortal warrior-turned-superhero (Will Smith) who has lost his way, Hancock, was a super-sized hit in 2008, earning more than $624 million worldwide, making it a bigger blockbuster than any of 2011's superhero movies — Green Lantern, Captain America: The First Avenger and X-Men: First Class and Thor all earned less — and earning it a spot in the Top 10 movies in the genre, alongside the likes of Spider-Man, Iron Man and The Dark Knight.
With numbers like that, you would think that we would have already seen a sequel by now. In fact, a pair of screenwriters was hired to pen Hancock 2 back in August 2009, and Berg confirmed the return of Smith and Charlize Theron one month later (Jason Bateman said that same month...

Bolstered by the star power and screen charm of Will Smith, the 2008 superhero movie Hancock powered its way to $624million at the global box office.
Its success came despite predictions that it would be a flop and accusations of homophobia by Us gay rights campaigners.
In addition, director Peter Berg's film was an original concept not based on any comic or cartoon so it was purely Will Smith striding about in Wolverine-inspired biker leathers that proved the big draw. The X-Men influences continued with Charlize Theron's character, who turned out to be a fellow superhuman capable of Storm-style meteorological mayhem.
No surprise that there has long been talk of a Hancock 2.

Will Smith has an extensive resume that consists of many blockbuster movies, some of them becoming even bigger sequels. But out of all the movies he has done, a few movies are not deserving of being produced as one. Hancock is just one of the few movies that has not earned the right to have a sequel. But Will Smith and Peter Berg don’t see it that way. Apparently they want to have a sequel, in an interview with Comic Book Movie (via The Playlist), the director revealed that he, Will Smith, and [producers] Michael Mann & Akiva Goldsman have been talking about a potential Hancock 2.

[1] The summer of '08 was a pretty great one for superheroes, with Iron Man kicking off the blockbuster season and The Dark Knight and The Incredible Hulk following months after. One superpowered film that proved not up to par that season, however, was Peter Berg's Hancock. Starring Will Smith as a disgraced vigilante superhero, the movie seemed at first like a breath of fresh air, but ultimately left viewers disappointed thanks to a poorly conceived, poorly executed plot twist and an oddly uneven tone. Still, it was a box office success, so it wasn't long before rumors began floating around of a Hancock 2. Fast-forward three and a half years, and not only are we barely any closer to getting a second Hancock, I'd wager that most moviegoers have forgotten about the first Hancock altogether. Berg and Smith haven't, though, and Berg insists that the sequel is still in...

A couple of years back, almost every blockbuster Will Smith had ever starred in had a proposed sequel being written by a Hollywood screenwriter somewhere on the planet. Independence Day 2, I Robot 2, I Am Legend 2, Bad Boys 3, Hancock 2 and a Men in Black 3 were all trying to tempt Smith, who was on acting hiatus at the time, to make a blockbuster comeback. In the end he chose Men in Black 3, reviving a franchise that had been dormant for almost a decade and the end product is released this summer.
However just because he chose Mib III over the other projects above doesn’t mean he won’t come back to them some day and according to Hancock director Peter Berg in a new interview with Comic Book Movie, a follow-up to the 2008 original superhero film may still be on the cards.

Some might chalk Hancock‘s quick vanish from the public consciousness up to a release within close range of The Dark Knight, but most (i.e., the sensible) just think back to the film and know precisely why it disappeared. Sure, it made more than $600 million at the box office, but how many people mention the movie in conversation three and a half years later? Exactly.
This general distaste for and extended length of time from Hancock makes the prospect of a sequel nigh impossible in my own opinion, but Peter Berg is getting out the drum and starting to bang it, anyway. Here’s his quote on the prospective follow-up that was given to Cbm:

According to director Peter Berg, Hancock 2 is most likely going to happen. Why? I have no idea. I didn't really care for the first film about a drunk superhero who finds his way back into greatness. If you're a fan of watching a drunk Will Smith flip over cars and mess with children, today's your lucky day. As Berg told Comicbookmovie.com, "We've been talking about the sequel between us, Will Smith, [producers] Michael Mann and Akiva Goldsman and myself." However, don't get too excited "Hancock" enthusiasts: there are a few caveats. "We're all interested, but we literally just have trouble getting into the same room at the same time," admits Berg. Return of the Magnificent Seven
Directed by: Burt Kennedy
Cast: Yul Brynner, Robert Fuller, Julian Mateos, Warren Oates, Virgilio Texeira, Claude Akins, Elisa Montes
Running Time: 1 hr 35 mins
Rating: Nr
Due Out: August 2, 2011
Plot: Legendary gunslinger Chris (Brynner) returns to Mexico with a new batch of six cowboys to save a vulnerable town from a terrorizing leader.
Who’S It For?: If you’re looking for another serving of Magnificent Seven-like awesomeness, look elsewhere. If bland gunplay provided by an excessive amount of dull characters is your thing, this movie might keep you awake.
Movie:
Return of the Magnificent Seven is infected with the same attribute that makes other unwarranted sequels suck. It abuses the power of the components that made the original so special, and it focuses on giving the audience a second helping of what they clamored for, but this time with a giant shoulder-shrug as they dish it out.
