"If everyone was satisfied with himself, there would be no heroes." This is the story of an unlikely hero, someone that saved another person's life, and how rare and unlikely that actually is. Somebody's Hero is a short documentary film made by a creative agency in Maine called P3. It uses archival footage, interviews, and animation recreations to retell the story of how a lonely man from a small town helped save the lives of people in a trailer fire. "A struggling loner from Otis, Maine must contend with his inner demons to make a life and death decision. This is a study of heroism at its most elemental; how and why are some people, against all odds, able to confront the ultimate fear and put their lives at risk for a complete stranger?" A very good question. There's also some commentary in this about heroism, and how it's actually...

Darin Beckstead, the filmmaker behind Courage & Stupidity, a 25-minute film that reimagined Spielberg’s troubled experiences while making Jaws, is now throwing a hat into the horror genre with his tongue-in-cheek short titled Zombie Valley.
Zombie Valley stars Bus Riley, who was cast to reflect a bit of George Romero, as if the famous filmmaker were caught in one of his own nightmares. It was filmed in promotion of a very different and theatrical project Beckstead currently has in development.
Considering Courage & Stupidity became the first short film to secure a standalone distribution deal with Netflix and Beckstead recently won Best Picture at the Coney Island Film Festival for his feature film Somebody's Hero, we have a feeling he's someone to keep a close eye on! Check out Zombie Valley below along with a trailer for Courage & Stupidity (after all, who doesn't love Jaws) and let us know what you think.

We had already reported it, but now it’s official that Neil Patrick Harris is back to host the Tony Awards.
Lots of action over at Fox. New Girl with Zooey Deschanel is picked up to series, as is Alcatraz from Jj Abrams and Bones spinoff The Finder. They also canceled Human Target, Chicago Code, and Breaking In, which I was enjoying. And now Lie To Me is gone. I haven’t read the sides for the new Fox shows yet, but nothing gay pops out at me.
There’s also unofficial news that NBC has renewed Harry’s Law (which had the transgender storyline this year), canceled Law & Order: La, and picked up Wonder Woman to series.
Meanwhile, odds are running 50/50 on Happy Endings getting another season, which makes me sad.
Lady Gaga will make her new album available early in a Farmville spinoff called GagaVille that you can...

"Ugly Betty" actor Christopher Gorham is the latest to climb up on "The Ledge."
He joins Charlie Hunnam, Terrence Howard, Liv Tyler and Patrick Wilson in writer-director Matthew Chapman's suspense thriller. Gorham will play the distraught man's roommate, a television editor.
Michael Mailer ("Loverboy") and Foresight Unlimited's Mark Damon ("Monster") are producing the film, which began shooting last week in Baton Rouge, La. Howard, Moshe Diamant, Bobby Ranghelov and Tamara Stuparich De La Barra are exec producers.
Gorham, repped by CAA and Hyphenate, next appears in the features "My Girlfriend's Boyfriend," "Trivial Pursuits" and "Somebody's Hero." He also stars opposite Piper Perabo in the USA series "Covert Affairs," which premieres during the summer.
