"Hell-O" was a fine way to get the show "Glee" going again
tavm12 October 2010
Well, having watched the first 13 eps of "Glee" that aired from September to December, I've now seen the first of the back nine that started airing the following April. It seems by this point, Finn and Rachel had been together for a while and he's already tired of her. Sue is reinstated as Cheerios coach courtesy of a little blackmail with the principal. And Emma finds out something from Will's not-yet-ex-wife Terri that makes her have second thoughts about going to have a relationship with him at this time...Watching this ep of "Glee" right after the previous one brought a whole new excitement to me especially with the many changes in characterizations and some new additional characters like of a couple of rivals from another glee club that should be interesting as I watch subsequent eps. Plus, I loved all the songs with the word "Hello", or on one occasion "Hell", that were performed here. Also, that was a fine performance of Jane Lynch doing Madonna's "Vogue" in the preview of the following ep Fox aired right after...

Warning: Spoilers
The new season of Glee has started. Of course we get drama right from the start. Rachel and Finn's boyfriend/girlfriend relationship may not last. Rachel is thinking about dating Jesse, one of the lead singer in the Glee club who they will be competing against in the regional's competition. Finn has been asked out on a date by two of the Cheerios (Santana & Brittany) at the same time. Mr Schuester is battling his own hormones with whether to pursue Emma sexually or take a step back and look at himself and the results of his breakup with his wife Terri. What's worse is the Glee Club members are stuck in the middle trying to keep the members together while focusing on Mr Schuester's assignment, which is to find a song to see with the word "Hello" in the title. The episode was great and the best performance was the Glee team singing the Beatles song "Hello Goodbye". The real surprise bonus however was Sue Sylvester's premier video of "Vogue". I do believe she was actually singing the song herself, and it was great. It included Kurt, Mercedes and some professional dancers rocking out to one of Madonna's best songs. Apparently next week will dedicated to Madonna's songs and this was a preview. Great way to end the 1st episode of the new season. Looking forward to next weeks episode.

Gleek no more

Warning: Spoilers
How to destroy the Glee franchise in one episode; Sue would be proud. Have the writers lost their minds? In one episode they have destroyed the character arcs and removed any pretense of plot.

Gee, I guess Sue is the new protagonist and she achieves her power by drugging the principal. Why didn't she just tell him to reinstate her AND kill the Glee club? Will is now too weak and screwed up to oppose her and we're supposed to believe that she needs to be cunning to win.

The series has lost its cartoonish, lovable characters and now it's just a group of vaguely bad feelings. Bring back the previous writers and especially the editors from last season! Being a "creator" doesn't mean you can write a script that works and sustains the franchise. The alone music is NOT enough.

I want to love this show and I feel betrayed. To rephrase Kurt, "Curse your lack of talent!"

Dull and Lifeless sound

Warning: Spoilers
So, not so much the start of season 2, but season 1 part 2.

Season 1 part 1 was terrific, good plots, good songs and more importantly good sound that made you want to sing along.

Hell-O had appalling sound that made you want to turn the sound OFF. What use a music show where that happens? The sound mixer/producer needs fired. Pronto.

I'll watch the next couple of episodes, but if the soundguy keeps using 32kbps to record the sound, I'm outta here.

So, to the spoiler. Sue's back (yawn - can we not get new villain?) in a hastily written blackmail script. Seriously? That's the best you could come up with after 4 months?

Big Disappointment!

Warning: Spoilers
I was really looking forward to the back 9 of Glee. Maybe I was looking forward a little too much. because this one just one big let down.

I liked exactly two things about this episode - Finns wardrobe and Brittany. the rest was just a big tangled mess of destroying characters - especially Will and Rachel, and introducing story lines sounding like the most overused plot devices ever.

while I might have enjoyed Rachels insight into Finns psyché, it was all shot down by her instantly falling for the less intelligent male version of herself just because ... I don't even know why. Jonathan Groff may be a star and he might have sound good with Lea once upon a time but here he is just this average looking guy that sings no better then any other male character already introduced. and he is a big a-hole.

don't even let me start on Will. I might have appreciated Emma wanted to break up with him because she was right - he is a mess and she needs to deal with her issues if they are to have a relationship but his little intermezzo with Idina Mendel was just a big WTF moment.

the saddest part is that not one of the performances was actually good. they were all lacking emotion and energy that made the previous episodes such a delight to watch.

I really hope they will find their groove back because if this episode is them setting the standard for rest of the season, then this show doesn't deserve a second season
