Well not quite what I expected…

It is an average movie, with average acting and an average plot. The movie could have potential but got pretty boring fast. The story promised a lot but the plot didn't have an edge at all. It could have given a lot if more afford was given to it. The dialogues where boring and meaningless and you couldn't identify with the characters and the story.

It had no atmosphere what so ever and that affected the entire movie… Back to the movie now, it is a compilation of three stories about a game. A game which you play when you are alone at home and you play it with a ghost. So you go hide and the ghost comes out to seek you… Promises lots of scares and gives nothing. It is a reap off other movies of its kind like Ringu etc but not as good.

Petty I expected much much more. Still I will take a look on the other ones also to see if they turn out better. The story has a potential for a good scare … I hope I am right.

Shot-on-video Grudge copy

Warning: Spoilers
HIDE AND GO KILL is another Japanese shot-on-video horror movie that owes all of its inspiration to the classic Japanese ghost story JU-ON: THE GRUDGE. The story is about a group of high school girls who spend their private lives going online and visiting a weird blog which may or may not be haunted. Soon enough the girls find themselves spooked by a sinister figure when they decide to play a game of hide and seek...

While a creep-fest such as this has plenty of potential, it's fair to say that HIDE AND GO KILL really isn't too interesting. The main reason is the lack of ambition combined with the lack of originality. Everything you see that occurs here has been done better elsewhere, leaving a few jump scares and lots of bits where the aspiring actresses interact with shadowy rooms. The director certainly tries hard but in the end can add little to an overly underwhelming experience.

Go seek a better movie.

Warning: Spoilers
"I found you."

Hide and Go Kill is a pretty boring, low-budget Ringu/Ring knock-off. It's a collection of stories about a fairly complicated game that Japanese high school kids start playing called Hide and Seek Along, which leads to teenagers being haunted, possessed, killing themselves, and other supernatural shenanigans.

When I said it was boring, I really meant it. Most of the film is comprises of scenes of people repeatedly asking each other if they've ever heard of Hide and Seek Alone, asking if they want to play Hide and Seek Alone, or giving instructions on how to play Hide and Seek Alone. It's about as exciting as reading the rules of chess. Occasionally interrupt that cycle of tedium with a somehow even more boring sequence of a teenager playing the game, and you've got your movie.

Undoubtedly, the best thing by far about Hide and Go Kill is how cute one of the main actresses (Saki Yamaguchi) is, but it would be much quicker, easier, and probably more fun to just look up pictures or videos of her on your search engine of choice. There are some very worthy J-horror flicks to be found, but this isn't one of them. Not scary, not interesting, not worth your time. I have to admit that I feel strangely compelled to see the sequel, though. After all, it can't be any worse and there might be another cute girl or two.

A bit thin

Warning: Spoilers
"Hide and go kill" is a Japanese movie that tells the story of a strange online game that takes a turn to the dark when more and more participants begin to disappear or experience strange occurrences. They start to be haunted by a mysterious lady and no one can make a sense out of it.

In many aspects, this film seems to be your average Horror title. Kids get haunted by ghosts, people randomly disappear or get killed and all that because of some strange curse of unknown origins. And indeed the plot starts quite decently with a fitting atmosphere and some outsiders in school that you can easily build empathy for. I have to say that I like the general idea of an internet game gone wrong, it proved in several other movies to be a promising element. However, not only is the structure of the movie strange and the different parts don't seem to be very tightly connected, the story also doesn't make much sense. The end of the movie wants you to think that all of this has also a more metaphoric meaning that is hiding behind the cruel events but it is so badly built up that I didn't feel taken seriously.

All in all this is not a great horror movie. It shares some classical elements with many other films out of the genre, but it is clearly missing a more plausible and stringent plot to not only provide a decent surface.
