I had the feeling that I had seen this episode before when watching it yet I knew I couldn't have. I was also bewildered by the bizarre cameo appearance of William Shatner via face time link and then came the reveal.
This was a reworking of the classic Columbo episode' Try and Catch Me' and whilst Shatner wasn't in that story he is probably the last working / surviving guest stars from the classic Columbo years having guest starred in two episodes namely Fade in to Murder' and 'Butterfly in Shades of Grey.
So I believe this was a tribute by the writer(s) to arguably the greatest detective series ever made.
The good news though is that it is a hugely entertaining episode well written and acted and a Cameo from an acting legend too.
