Sad news arrives from Japan: legendary mangaka and anime creator Akira Toriyama passed away on March 1, 2024. The creator of Dragon Ball, one of the most popular and important manga and anime series in history, died from an acute subdural hematoma after reportedly having had a scheduled brain tumor surgery in February 2024, according to Sports Nihon.
Akira Toriyama was a major figure in the history of manga and anime. He created the Dragon Ball franchise, which soon became one of the most popular animanga franchises in the world. The anime adaptation of Toriyama’s manga, as well as its sequel – Dragon Ball Z – helped make anime popular around the globe and paved the way for the “Big Three” anime series in the early 2000s. In fact, it is not uncommon to see Dragon Ball grouped together with them as the “Big Four.”

The musician, dancer and artist Fka Twigs has kept herself busy over the last three years. At the end of 2016, she released a 35-minute short film that she directed, Soundtrack 7, that offered a behind-the-scenes look into various Twigs projects. She also appeared in ad campaigns for Nike and the Apple HomePod, the latter directed by Spike Jonze.

Edward who? Millions of fans flocked to theaters to see Robert Pattinson bristle and brood as the lovesick vamp Edward Cullen in 2008's Twilight (and its four equally emo sequels) — but Pattinson's own fiancee, Fka twigs, was not among them. Speaking about her beau of nearly a year in a new interview with the UK's Sunday Times, the "Video Girl" singer, 27, admitted she had yet to see the actor in his most famous role — the role that catapulted him and then-girlfriend Kristen Stewart to [...]...

Wait…Robert Pattinson and Fka twigs are engaged?! T-Pain, who is hoping to work with R.Patz’s British love, has sparked speculation of an engagement after he told Vulture in a recent interview that the couple have taken the next step — only to then claim he was just kidding. “She’s one of my favorite artists right now,” the rapper told the site of the “Video Girl” singer. “The first time we even met each other, we met in the studio. Her music’s changed a lot since then. But [...]...

Robert Pattinson has already put a ring on Fka Twigs. Hang on, not the ring. But the Maps to the Stars actor did give the "Video Girl" artist a promise ring in December and she was ecstatic to get it, a source tells E! News. The insider says that Rob shared the happy development in his relationship status with a few select friends around that same time at an "I-want-to-marry-you-dinner." The pals were also told, meanwhile, that the Twilight heartthrob and Twigs were not officially engaged... yet. Their relationship seems to be on the fast track and while Rob hasn't shared a proposal timetable with his mates, our source believes that it could happen as soon as this...

1. Perfume Genius, "Queen" Directed by Cody Critcheloe, the video for Perfume Genius's first single off Too Bright is so strange and wonderful that it requires multiple viewings to fully comprehend. Even after all that, you still might end up with nothing, and maybe that's the point. 2. Fka Twigs, "Video Girl" It was nearly impossible to pick just one Fka Twigs video for this list. "Two Weeks" flirts on the line between sexy and scary, a twisted version of Michael Jackson's "Remember the Time." But "Video Girl" is straight-up scary, with Twigs gyrating atop the body of a recently deceased prisoner minutes after watching his death by lethal injection. If you're anything like me, I'll bet you haven't felt uncomfortable like this in quite some time. 3. Whether you think Barbie is a good role model for little girls or not — and if you’re in the latter camp, maybe you’d prefer “Average Barbie”? — there’s no denying that on her road from surgeon to princess to McDonald’s drive thru worker, Barbara has had a few brushes with controversy.

Nothing controversial about a Barbie that babysits (no matter many jobs she’s had over the years, babysitting forever seems to be Barbie’s main source of income), but why babysitter Barbie reads a book called How to Lose Weight that advises, “Don’t eat!” is a different issue.

Robert Pattinson sure knows how to score points as a good boyfriend! The 28-year-old actor presented girlfriend Fka Twigs with a dozen red roses after her sold-out show Saturday at Terminal 5 in New York City. The 26-year-old "Video Girl" singer and Rob were photographed leaving the venue—Fka held her pretty flowers in her arms as her sweet beau walked a few steps ahead, shielding his ladylove from the paparazzi. As usual, the couple looked suitably stylish and chic, but if you look closely, you'll see R.Pattz (thankfully) shaved the mustache he was recently sporting. That particular facial hair didn't seem to bother Fka, though! She was spotted holding hands with her mustachioed love...

Fka twigs has made a haunting out of her music video for "Video Girl." The song itself addresses a 19-year-old mother-of-two who "dances" on a camera for others to watch. It's an eerie, creeper of a song to begin with. The "watching" activity goes a step further in its accompanying new clip. Fka twigs herself looks on at an inmate being strapped down and killed by lethal injection. Initially, she is crying, alone, made cold by the activity as she watches through a window. But then something flips, and she is in the execution room dancing by the bound man in stuttering strange steps. She starts crawling up on his table as he starts to go under due to the drugs, bodily taunting him as she straddles him and captures the mic hanging from the ceiling, which is documenting the sound of someone dying. This is not a mating dance or a sexual advance.

Are these the backstories of future indie moguls? In the '90s, Gordon Bijelonic was a New York theater actor and Vin Diesel was staying on his couch. Diesel asked Bijelonic to produce his first film, "Strays," which debuted at Sundance 1997. Meanwhile, Datari Turner got his break as a model for Bruce Weber's infamous Abercrombie & Fitch catalogs. After becoming the face of Sean John, Turner left modeling to pursue a career in creating reality television shows. Bijelonic and Turner met in 1999 but it wasn't until recently that they worked together on a film, "Video Girl," which Turner wrote, produced and stars in opposite Meagan Good. It wasn't the kind of film that goes on the festival circuit; it received a very limited release this year. And from this hodgepodge of humble beginnings, the duo has gone on to produce seven films in the last 18 months with a film in...
