Three Fun Horror-Shorts
jfgibson7320 March 2010
Warning: Spoilers
All three of these shorts are worth watching. I liked the Eyes of Edward James because I felt like it had the most satisfying resolution. It was told with a fairly original way of constructing the story. The Facts in the Case of Mr. Hollow is more of a visual achievement. It is hard to believe what you are seeing. The premise seems to be that the camera is a magnifying class looking for clues in a still photo. However, the photo has dimensions and we swoop in and around the images. I don't know if it actually adds up to an actual story, but it was also very unique. The Demonology of Desire was fun to watch, but the ending left me feeling cheated. I didn't really feel like I got a resolution. Some movies can have an open-ended final scene and you still feel like you know all you need to. The Wrestler, The Verdict, and The Graduate come to mind. The impression that I got watching this short was that the writers had an idea for part of a story, but not really an ending. If this were available at a library or the $1 rental box, I would recommend trying it out. Otherwise, you can probably find the separate shorts available to watch online.
