Any chance of a new Friday the 13th movie going into production is on the distant horizon, but there are other things going on with the Friday the 13th franchise now that the copyright lawsuit between the original film’s producer / director Sean S. Cunningham and screenwriter Victor Miller has ended with Miller gaining the copyright to the first movie in the United States. Miller and his lawyer Marc Toberoff have teamed up with Horror Inc., which is headed up by Robert Barsamian and holds the rights to the overall franchise, to develop a TV series called Crystal Lake for A24 and the Peacock streaming service, and last month it was announced that they’re launching the Jason Universe, which will involve “new Friday the 13th activations spanning a wide range of platforms from entertainment, games, immersive experiences, merchandise and more to be announced throughout 2024.” @JasonUniverse13 accounts were set up...

Kevin Feige had a far crazier idea for Avengers: Endgame climax inspired by the Toy Story 3 ending. Feige wanted to kill off all the six Og Avengers at the end of the film and proposed the idea to directors Russo brothers and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely. However, they shot down the idea since the directors believed that they could not do justice to all these character deaths.

Moreover, too many deaths would’ve left the audience in a disappointed and confused state. The sacrifices of Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow and Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man were the only ones required to create an emotional impact on the viewers. With Captain America’s fitting happy ending, fans were overwhelmed with emotions while leaving the theaters.

Manga creator Gege Akutami recently shocked the world once again by “bringing back” Gojo Satoru to the Jujutsu Kaisen narrative. However, his return was marked with a twist that no one expected, and now fans have mixed feelings about Gojo’s return, as his physical body might have come back, but he is not alive.
Gojo Satoru in Jujutsu Kaisen | Mappa Studios
The story is currently at its peak, and with the next chapter, the probable rematch between the King of Curses and Gojo Satoru (with Yuta Okkotsu’s mind) will start, and hopefully, we will get to see a new winner this time. But it won’t change the fact that Gojo Satoru is still dead. However, the popular character might have found his calling in a different series.

Hip-hop mogul Sean “P. Diddy” Combs is losing public favor following the leaked hotel footage of him physically hurting Casandra “Cassie” Ventura. Ventura and Combs dated on and off from 2007 to 2018. The public is still talking about their relationship in 2024 after Homeland Security raided two of Combs’ properties. Ventura once discussed why she and Combs never tied the knot despite their longstanding relationship. Here’s what she said.
Casandra ‘Cassie’ Ventura once explained why she and Sean ‘P. Diddy’ Combs never got married
Casandra “Cassie” Ventura had a tumultuous relationship with Sean “P. Diddy” Combs. The couple was together on and off for nearly a decade, though Ventura’s lawsuit against Combs in 2023 revealed Combs’ abuse. The exes settled the lawsuit just one day after Ventura filed.
In 2018, Ventura spoke to Hot 97 about her thoughts on marriage. Ventura was still dating Combs, though they broke up permanently that year.

What’s In A Phrase?
Complaints filed: We could fill these very pages with news and analysis about the so-called ‘culture wars’ almost every week, but the past seven days has been ripe with incident. When Karla Sofia Gascón (pictured) became the first transgender actress to win the Cannes Best Actress prize for Jacques Audiard’s gangster musical Emilia Perez last weekend she would have felt only joy, but that joy swiftly turned sour after French far-right politician Marion Maréchal-Le Pen responded to the win on X with: “So a man has won the Best Actress prize… progress for the left is the erasure of women and mothers.” Palms could be heard hitting faces across the land.

Attention: lovestruck singles, impossibly chic realtors, moles, catfish-hunters, super strategists, and celibacy-challenged rule breakers. Finally, there’s a place where everyone belongs.
For years, fans have taken it upon themselves to unite the reality stars across Netflix’s galaxy under one single name: the Netflix Reality Universe, or Nru. It’s made up of people like us… who also happen to wear unnecessarily complicated string bikinis, and say “I love you” before swapping phone numbers. And it’s what happens when worlds collide. Think “Avengers assemble,” but it’s Love Is Blind singles Micah and Jess taking another shot at love on Perfect Match Season 2, or Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause being fooled by a dessert on Is It Cake?.

Way back at the end of 2021, Warner Bros. announced that they were teaming up with Player First Games to develop a free-to-play platform fighter game called MultiVersus. Already packed with a bunch of fan-favorite characters, MultiVersus is adding more of them to the roster. Intriguingly, they all share a common trait, madness. One of them, Banana Guard, is already doing the rounds on the internet, as an official character reveal trailer was released by the developers. It sure seems interesting.
The game is set for release later this month, but players have already caught a glimpse of it during the beta test. It seems to be a fun nostalgic ride, given the characters from fan-favorite animated series’ will be there.
MultiVersus Jason Should be Identical to The One we Saw on Family Guy
Warner Bros. has a long list of characters they can introduce in the game.
Up until now, MultiVersus had too many colors but the devs decided to put something dark to it. However, it would actually end up being more fun if there’s no gruesome element in there.

A24 and Peacock may be taking some time to figure out a new direction for their Friday the 13th series Crystal Lake, which recently lost showrunner Bryan Fuller, but the franchise rights holders at Horror Inc. have let it be known that Friday the 13th fans have a lot to look forward to as the rest of 2024 plays out. Through an exclusive report on IGN, Horror Inc. has announced that they’re launching Jason Universe. As for what exactly that is, IGN explains, “New Friday the 13th activations will span a wide range of platforms from entertainment, games, immersive experiences, merchandise and more to be announced throughout 2024 via @JasonUniverse13 on social media or by visiting the official Jason Universe website.”
As fans know, the Friday the 13th franchise was recently bogged down for several years due to a copyright lawsuit involving the original film’s director / producer Sean S. Cunningham and screenwriter Victor Miller.

The Wolf Man remains one of the horror genre's most iconic movie monsters and in 2017, there were plans for him to take centre stage in Universal's ill-fated "Dark Universe."
The idea of an McU-inspired shared world featuring these creatures crumbled when The Mummy bombed, leaving the studio with no other choice than to part ways with Hollywood heavyweights like Tom Cruise, Johnny Depp, Russell Crowe, and Javier Bardem.
There's been some chatter about Universal attempting to revive its Dark Universe, but filmmaker Leigh Whannell's Wolf Man won't be part of them.
"As an outsider, I would say that The Mummy's Dark Universe, in my humble opinion, felt like it was reactive to what was going on with all the superhero stuff - the MCU and DC universe," producer Ken Kao tells Screen Rant (via FearHQ.com). "And we know there's been a lot of talk about what...

Akira Toriyama has given a lot of thought to his magnum opus, the Dragon Ball series where he tells the story with his mighty and lovable protagonist, Son-Goku. Throughout the series’ run, the character has continuously surprised us as he pushed beyond his physical limits and showcased to the fans what it means to break past your limits. Such was the case when he transformed into Super Saiyan for the very first time.

In director Roland Emmerich's 1994 sci-fi thriller "Stargate," a mysterious metal ring, about nine feet wide, is discovered in the remote ruins of Egypt. The ring is found to be a mysterious technology that, when arranged properly, can open a doorway to a distant planet. Actors like James Spader and Kurt Russell pass through the Stargate and find themselves on a distant alien world called Abydos. Everything in Abydos looks like ancient Egypt, and we soon learn that the Abydosians once used the Stargate to visit Earth, enslave humans, and set up ancient Egyptian culture. The villain of the film is Ra (Jaye Davidson), an ancient alien who uses human bodies to extend his life.
There's a lot of cool design and slick special effects in "Stargate," but the alien mythology isn't explored thoroughly enough. Like most of Emmerich's films, it makes big swings visually yet never emerges from the realm of corny melodrama.

Back in November, Mark Hamill told fans at Fan Expo San Francisco that he would no longer be portraying the Clown Prince of Gotham.
Despite being considered by many to be the best Joker of all time, Hamill believed he just couldn't play the role unless it was opposite Kevin Conroy's Batman. Conroy, who voiced Bruce Wayne/Batman across several projects, passed away in November 2022.
But it seems there was a little caveat that allowed for Hamill to reprise the iconic villain role one final time in an upcoming game called MultiVersus. As it turns out, prior to his passing, Kevin Conroy also voiced Batman in the fighting game. It's perhaps for this reason that Hamill made an exception to his previous statement and returned to the role of Joker in the game.
For those unfamiliar, MultiVersus is a free-to-play platform fighter, in the same vein as Nintendo's Super Smash Bros.

With two episodes still to go, X-Men ’97 has proven to be one of the best entries from Marvel in recent years, mostly thanks to former showrunner Beau DeMayo’s passion for the material. DeMayo, who was abruptly fired from the show prior to its premiere, has been pretty transparent with the fans about his thought process behind this revival of X-Men: The Animated Series.
Taking to his X account, the writer shared a new clip for the series ahead of Episode 9’s release, as DeMayo made his intentions clear about respecting the source material without pushing his vision too far.

Star Wars: Dark Empire's Luke Skywalker And The Phantom Menace's Darth Maul Get New Hot Toys Figures
When Disney acquired Lucasfilm from George Lucas for a whopping $4 billion, the Star Wars Expanded Universe immediately concluded and was latter dubbed "Legends."
This wasn't a shock as there was no way the studio would ever be beholden to decades worth of comics and tie-in novels while trying to create a new trilogy of movies - not to mention countless tie-in stories - set in a Galaxy Far, Far Away.
Understandably, many Star Wars fans have been upset to see the characters and tales they loved from the EU era sidelined and largely forgotten. However, Disney has incorporated elements of them into the new canon from the start, with Grand Admiral Thrawn's Star Wars Rebels role a perfect example of that.
As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, we're also slowly starting to see merchandise based on those stories, and Hot Toys has today unveiled a Luke Skywalker figure based...

A.A. Milne’s 1926 children’s book Winnie-the-Pooh and the characters in it lapsed into the public domain at the start of last year, paving the way for the Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey horror franchise, which in turn kicked off the Twisted Childhood Universe, consisting of other horror movies inspired by children’s stories, like Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Pinocchio Unstrung, building up to the crossover movie Poohniverse: Monsters Assemble. On January 1st, the earliest versions of Mickey Mouse – seen in the animated shorts Plane Crazy, The Gallopin’ Gaucho, and most famously Steamboat Willie – became public domain, so Mickey-based horror movies also started springing up. Within the first three days of the year, we saw the short film The Vanishing of S.S. Captain America: Civil War beautifully set the stage in a way for the Avengers: Infinity War. When Tony Stark reveals to Bruce Banner that the Avengers have broken up, Bruce innocently questions him, “Like the Beetles?” It generated a lot of laughs in the theatres, but that might not have been possible if Marvel’s Creative Committee stopped the Russo brothers from pitting Tony and Steve Rogers against each other in the 2016 movie.

As both a prequel and sequel to various versions of the Star Trek franchise, Star Trek: Discovery often includes unexpected easter eggs and references to the entire saga. The latest episode, “Mirrors,” is no exception, as it brings back a famous Star Trek ship, as well as answers questions about a mysterious alien species, which has been around since the 1990s.
From references to the goatee version of Spock, to some deep-cuts from Deep Space Nine, and even a tribble joke, Discovery’s easter eggs in season 5, episode 5 aren’t messing around. Here are the best references and how these shout-outs solve a few mysteries, while suggesting a possible future development for the next Star Trek show.

Let's fly ... away from spoilers. Read no further if you haven't watched the latest episode of "Star Trek: Discovery."
Mirror, mirror on the wall, who's the strangest of them all? In "Star Trek," that title goes to one of the zaniest concepts ever introduced into the canon: The Mirror Universe. The idea of our alternate selves living completely different lives somewhere out there is no longer the sole domain of perhaps the nerdiest franchise in all of sci-fi, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or the best episode of "Community" ever made. Fans might be surprised to find out that many in the scientific community believe the theory is worth discussion these days. But "Trek" put its own unmistakable fingerprints on the multiverse by emphasizing one in particular that stands at odds with the usual Prime Universe -- one that poses a fundamentally moral dilemma between the paragons of Starfleet we know and love,...

Universal Pictures’ The Mummy franchise was a fan favorite when it starred Brendan Fraser as the leading man Rick O’Connell. The first two films in the trilogy were directed by Stephen Sommers, also starred Rachel Weisz and John Hannah, and were box office successes. However, the reboot starring Tom Cruise was a gigantic failure critically and commercially.
While Cruise’s film ended what Universal planned as a series of monster films with a shared universe, a recent fan-made trailer seemed to have followed it up with a new cast. The new trailer is titled The Mummy: Resurrection and sees Keanu Reeves take over the franchise to battle a new evil spirit buried in an Egyptian tomb.

Good news, everyone! The not-highly anticipated update to the Storybook Circus area, Smellephants on Parade, has started to take shape. A Smellephant has arrived.
If you don’t know what Smellephants are, you were blessed. But now I have to ruin your bliss by explaining.
“Smellephants on Parade” is one of Disney’s latest brain farts where they can try to pretend like they are adding new attractions while doing something lame and cheap. Basically, they wanted a sponsored attraction for Scentsy and decided this was the way to go.
Then, they will tell the media and investors that they are bringing new attractions to compete with Universal Orlando’s upcoming Epic Universe.
This time, they are adding pink elephants to the Storybook Circus area of the Magic Kingdom. However, now they will eject smells like popcorn. If you want to smell actual pink elephants you need to go to...

The Fire Nation has been portrayed to be pretty ruthless in the 100 years that it festered without the presence of the Avatar. Throughout the war, the country committed numerous atrocities and tried to set the Fire Nation as a hegemonic force on the entire planet.
Ozai, leader of the Fire Nation at the time of Avatar Aang
A part of this process was making sure that the other bending arts were eradicated, if not heavily suppressed, so as to allow the Avatar Cycle to be restricted to the Fire Nation alone. After killing every single Air Nomad and enslaving the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation also murdered and enslaved a slew of Water Tribe benders, specifically from the Southern Water Tribe. An Avatar theory suggests that this could have been because of a certain The Last Airbender villain, who could be squarely blamed for these atrocities.

Captain America: Civil War is considered to be one of the best films the Marvel Cinematic Universe has had to offer. Keeping the storyline aside, such intense love for the film came because fans got to see their favorite Marvel superheroes together on the screen. The airport fight scene is still one of the fandom’s favorites! However, Chris Hemsworth was clearly missing from the party.
Captain America: Civil War (2016)
When Chris Hemsworth realized Captain America: Civil War was a thing and that many of his “friends from work” were going to be in it, he was quite worried about his future in the MCU. He came to the conclusion that Thor was being kicked out of the superhero universe and decided to confront the higher-ups about the fiasco.

It has been incredible to watch Chris Evans’ ascent to fame. The actor, who is best known for playing Steve Rogers/Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has grown considerably since his debut in the highly regarded superhero franchise.
Three solo Captain America movies and four Avengers films, as well as several other MCU productions, featured the Fantastic Four star as Steve Rogers/Captain America. Avengers: Endgame marked his final appearance as Captain America in 2019.
However, did you know that getting cast for the role was not a simple process?

Believe it or not, the iconic Superman: The Animated Series (Stas) might have never happened! Creator Bruce Timm, fresh off the success of Batman: The Animated Series (Btas), was primed for another superhero project.

James Gunn’s Dcu reboot is all set to take flight with his upcoming Superman, and fans couldn’t be more excited about it. According to the insights the co-ceo of DC Studios has shared until now into the project, the film has been inspired by a lot of the comics and projects from the Dcau. That being said, one behind-the-lens mastermind of Batman Beyond has something to say to Gunn.
2025’s Superman will kick off James Gunn’s DC Universe.
This master brain is none other than one of the directors of the superhit animated series from 1999, Butch Lukic. And as it turns out, he has some seriously good pieces of advice for the Guardians of the Galaxy director on how to helm his upcoming DC Universe reboot — some pretty neat advice that even fans would agree with.

The 1990s represented a golden epoch for action cinema. This was the time which saw VHS and its digitized successor DVD introduce a whole new generation of fans to the magic of stars like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone. And those titans from the ‘80s still claimed big wins, too, at the box office and home media via the likes of Terminator 2: Judgement Day, Demolition Man, and Cliffhanger.
It was also the decade that saw audiences turn out in droves to theaters and rental stores to catch a glimpse of Steven Seagal’s flying fists in movies like Under Siege or Jean-Claude Van Damme and his trademark splits in Timecop; Jackie Chan finally got the larger American fanbase he so richly deserved thanks to the Rush Hour movies while Bruce Willis gave us Die Hard With A Vengeance, the best of all the Die Hard sequels, before pivoting...

It is not a rare sight to see video games often collaborating with cinematic and other similar franchises that focus on a similar genre in order to entertain a larger audience. The same was the case when an unexpected collaboration between Mortal Kombat and DC came back in 2008, leaving fans shocked but glad as they enjoyed fighting against some of the most known superheroes.
What would have made such collaboration even better would be an animated movie, which is something that was actually pitched to Warner Bros, or WB as they own the copyright and trademarks to the superheroes. This was unfortunately shot down, depriving fans of what could have been a great experience watching the movie.

The wrestling world is in such an incoherent state right now that even the fans are puzzled about it all. Upon its release, Chloé Zhao’s Eternals made history by becoming the first Marvel Cinematic Universe film to have received a Rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes. Currently, the film sits at a meager rating of 47%. However, having given a 77% score, the audience clearly does not agree with the critics and believes that the film was not really as bad as they are saying. Many fans would agree that while Eternals was not one of the MCU’s greatest works, it still was an entertaining one-time watch, at least.

A new rumor from X poster Scott Gustin seemingly indicates that Disney is filing permits for work behind the Magic Kingdom for a future expansion. It could also just be work in the area. But many are thinking Disney is going to try to start work on the “Beyond Thunder Mountain” area they teased at Destination D23 in 2022.
During that presentation, they teased areas for “Coco,” “Encanto,” and Disney Villains. Most people want to see Disney Villains, and with Epic Universe at Universal Orlando bringing the Dark Universe featuring Universal Monsters, it would be a great idea to compete head-to-head.
Currently, “Encanto” has been moved to the blue sky area, replacing Dinoland U.S.A. at Animal Kingdom, which is called Tropical Americas.

There are too many Marvel Comics out there to read them all — and I'm talking about both the current ongoing series, and the 85 years of accumulated material. The publisher is aware of this, so what's its solution to hook new readers?
In 2000, Marvel launched "Ultimate Marvel," a new series of comics set in a separate continuity from the original "Earth-616" comics. The Ultimate Marvel comics followed the classic heroes, from Spider-Man to the Avengers (renamed the Ultimates), getting their powers in a more contemporary-styled setting. These were comics written not to appeal to long-time, continuity-obsessed fans, but to hook the new generation of nerds obsessing over "Buffy" and "The X-Files." That reverberated back and Ultimate Marvel became the primary influence on the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
After highs and lows, Ultimate Marvel ended in 2015. In 2024, it returned ... sort of. Rather than a continuation of the old Ultimate Universe, Marvel has just...

Since 2017, "Star Trek" has gone through some dramatic ups and downs. The launch of "Star Trek: Discovery" that year was a clarion call for the franchise, announcing that "Star Trek" was back on TV after a 13-year hiatus. "Discovery," however, was notoriously expensive and not widely beloved. It was soon joined on CBS All Access/Paramount+ by an overwhelming glut of "Star Trek" shows, each one set at a different period in Trek history. There was a brief moment when six Trek shows were running simultaneously.
The streaming model, however, proved to be unprofitable, and Paramount has been slowly extracting all its eggs from the Trek basket in recent years. "Discovery" is about to debut its fifth and final season, "Prodigy" will likewise end after its next year, "Short Treks" is seemingly no more, and "Picard" recently drew to a close.
