The Australian Directors Guild has published its list of nominees for this year’s awards, with Jeremy Sims, Rachel Perkins, David Michod, Claire McCarthy and Robert Connolly competing in the feature film category.
Television nominees include Tony Tilse for Underbelly: The Golden Mile, Peter Andrikidis for East West 101 and Amanda Brotchie for Lowdown; there are also nominations for environmental efforts and online projects.The wiinners will be announced on September 23 at Star City, Sydney.

While this year's Cannes Film Festival might be bookended by Aussie talent, it be fair to assess this year's representation of Australia's Film industry as "short" in stature. A trio of films have been selected for the festival, and of the three we find a pair of short films. Muscles, written and directed by Edward Housden follows the story of boy and his sister who wants to be a bodybuilder, and will screen in Official Competition. The 63rd Festival de Cannes has announced the list of nine films in Competition for the Short Film Palme d’Or, which will be awarded during the Closing ceremony on the 23rd of May.
According to the the official annoucement from the festival, "These nine short films, running between 10 and 15 minutes, represent a wide range of cinematic genres in animation, documentary and fiction. This equally balanced and strong offering has a particularly strong participation from Latin America. France will be represented by Serge Avédikian."
