The Oscar category of Best Original Song seems to have a concrete group of four tunes anticipated to be selected as nominees for Tuesday’s announcement. They include Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award winner “Naatu Naatu” from “Rrr” (M.M. Keeravani and Chandrabose), plus “Hold My Hand” from “Top Gun: Maverick”, “Lift Me Up” from “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”, and “Ciao Papa” from “Guillermo Del Toro’s Pinocchio”. That leaves at least one spot potentially open for a surprise nominee. When predicting the song category, it is best to keep in mind that the music branch clearly has their favorites, and that usually tends to fill up a couple uncertain slots. This year, two of those songwriters may have a better shot at another Oscar nomination than most people think: perennial nominees Diane Warren for “Applause” from “Tell It Like A Woman,” and J. Ralph for “Dust & Ash” from the documentary...

“Bridgerton” Season 2 has broken the record for most-viewed show in a week among Netflix’s English TV series, per the streaming service’s newly released weekly Top 10 list.
While “Squid Game” still holds the overall record for most-viewed show on Netflix in general across a seven-day period, with 571.76 million hours viewed, the second season of “Bridgerton” racked up 251.74 million hours viewed for the week of March 28 to April 3 — its first full week on the streaming service. Previously, “Inventing Anna” held the title for most-watched English-language series over a single week with 196 million hours viewed.
Close behind “Bridgerton” Season 2 on the Top 10 was “Bridgerton” Season 1, which was the No. 2 English-language title on Netflix last week, with 53 million hours viewed. In third place was new competition series “Is It Cake?”

The wait between seasons of Outlander results in quite the droughtlander.
Thankfully, Starz is getting the wheels spinning on a prequel series of the beloved series in an attempt to keep the magic alive.
Variety first reported the news, and unfortunately, there's no word on who or what the plot will be.
If you watch Outlander online, you know the series has been deeply rooted in the love story of Clare and Jamie since its inception.
With the series being based on Diana Gabaldon's novel series, there are still rumblings that the author is working on a prequel novel about Ellen MacKenzie and Brian Fraser.
Would you watch a series focused on Jamie Fraser's parents?
It might be the only way to get people invested because it would need to have a significant link to the original for most fans.
For their part, Starz is not commenting on the project,...

“When Wes (Craven) passed, I already said goodbye to it,” says original Scream franchise scribe Kevin Williamson today on Deadline’s Hero Nation podcast.
However, when the Dimension Films IP was snapped up by Spyglass Media, conversations began to bubble up of a revival. Williamson had a meeting with Spyglass Boss Gary Barber, however, the project was set into motion when screenwriter James Vanderbilt gave the Scream architect a phone call. In short, the new blood on the project wanted Williamson involved, the scribe taking an EP credit on the Paramount co-production opening today.
You can listen to our conversation with Williamson below:
Interesting to note that Williamson originally pitched a Scream 5 and 6, however, those elements didn’t really get inserted into the new edition; one intriguing character in the “re-quel” being Melissa Barrera’s Sam Carpenter who is a force to be reckoned with in the slasher series moving forward.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for CSI: Vegas Episode 6 “Funhouse.”] While Joshua Folsom (Matt Lauria) and Allie Rajan (Mandeep Dhillon) are investigating a bit of a horror show — murders at a clown-themed hotel! — those back at the Crime Lab are in the middle of their own nightmare: lockdown, potentially with the prime suspect in the seasons-long evidence tampering case in their midst. The latest CSI: Vegas first points the finger Chris Park’s (Jay Lee) way, when they trace back chemicals used to clean up part of the crime scene of Martin Kline’s murder — he was working with someone — to him. And he took all the grenades in the lab without signing them out. But, it turns out, one of theirs wasn’t used to kill Kline and someone stole those chemicals from him at a crime scene. In fact, it all leads back to none other than Anson Wix (Jamie McShane), the lawyer heading the class action.

Ralph Angel is damned lucky.
Not because he got caught, of course, but Queen Sugar Season 6 Episode 7 showed just how many people are in his corner.
The problem is, he doesn't seem to appreciate it.
Darla is hurt. She is furious, and she has every right to be. But when Ralph Angel echoed that he had a right to her feelings, I wanted to smack him. No kidding, she's got the right. I'm sure he thought he was being supportive, but it came across as condescending, and from Darla's eye-roll, I'm pretty sure she felt the same.
But Darla's still standing by her husband no matter what when a lot of women would walk away, especially when they have family with money they could go to.
But Darla loves Ralph Angel, and she's walked through hell and back in her own journey. Not only isn't she giving up, she's giving him hope.

Two of the series' most tightly wrapped characters got the spotlight treatment.
Yup, Magnum P.I. Season 4 Episode 4 took a look inside Higgins and Katsumoto, with cases that hit close to home for both of them.
It was surprising that Juliet was willing to admit that she could use some professional help untangling some of her recent life changes.
It made perfect sense that Higgins did a deep dive into Dr. Ogawa before ever setting foot in her office. And even then, an anxious Juliet was ready to cut and run before she even started.
Ogawa had dealt with doubters before and appeared to be an ideal choice to crack the nut that is Higgins.
But, seeing the shift in Ogawa's temperament after she received that calendar reminder, Juliet put off that moment of revelation by offering instead to investigate the suicide of Ogawa's former teen patient.
Ogawa's need to know...

Fresh off Juho Kuosmanen’s win at Cannes – where his “Compartment No. 6” was awarded the Grand Prix in July, sharing the prize with Asghar Farhadi’s “A Hero” – Finland’s Aamu Film Company will focus its attention on Tia Kouvo’s “Family Time,” scheduled to shoot in February and March 2022.
Produced by Jussi Rantamäki and Emilia Haukka, the film, primarily set at Christmas, will show a family of eight struggling to communicate and echoing Tolstoy’s statement that while all happy families are alike, every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way.
“I have been working with the same directors for years, saying no to many interesting projects. Then I saw Tia’s graduation short and realized we have to find room for one more,” says Rantamäki, also behind Kuosmanen’s Un Certain Regard winner “The Happiest Day in the Life of Olli Mäki” and Hamy Ramezan’s Berlinale entry “Any Day Now.

We hope there are brighter days ahead for the Bordelons and their friends, but things were cloudy at best during Queen Sugar Season 6 Episode 2.
You'd think things couldn't get more adversarial after having a white cop knock down an elderly black volunteer, but Billie's arrival managed to ratchet up the tension.
We don't know much about Billie, other than she and her family live in Chicago, and she failed to make it back to St. Jo's during Prosper's last medical crisis.
The Bordelons have given the impression that Billie had all but abandoned her father, but Billie says she begged Prosper to come to Chicago and be with her and her family, but he refused.
In Billie's defense, we've never heard her side of the story, and even now, we only have snippets of information. To Billie, it could have felt as though Prosper was choosing the Bordelons over her.

This Lucifer review contains spoilers.
Lucifer Season 6 Episode 9
“Where’s a goddamn celestial when you need one.”
In its series’ penultimate episode, “Goodbye, Lucifer,” Lucifer presents a powerful examination of the fate vs free will debate as Lucifer does his best to avoid abandoning Chloe and their unborn daughter Rory. Time travel, time loops, body jumping, end-of-the-world apocalypse – it’s all here as the series eschews its traditional witty one-liners for some resolute reflection in a moment of existential crisis. It doesn’t get much better than this.
There’s a certain irony in the fact that Lucifer is more concerned with preventing his own disappearance than assisting with the imminent apocalypse foreseen by Ella and Amenadiel. It would be easy to dismiss this as another one of his egocentric decisions, but his motives here are pure. He desires to be a better Devil, though maybe it’s time to...

Sometimes the best of intentions can lead to the worst possible outcomes. Unfortunately, that seemed to be the case on Queen Sugar Season 6 Episode 1.
Nova's vaccine drive was a fantastic idea that went horribly wrong.
These scenes were a look back to when people were fighting to get a vaccine against Covid-19 instead of fighting against them. How quickly things change.
This entire event could have simply been a learning experience for Nova. If she ran another, she'd obviously know to narrow it to St. Josephine residents and clearly state that ID was required.
Scared, desperate people flocked to the vaccine drive and overwhelmed the well-meaning volunteers running it.
I can't blame people for coming from other parishes to try and get vaccinated. What I can blame them for is acting like entitled jackasses and trying to bully their way to the front of the line.
Nova wasn't prepared for that.

One should never trust an imp, right?
Nyxly returned on Supergirl Season 6 Episode 9, and this time she used her powers of deception to take advantage of Nia's vulnerable state. Meanwhile, Kelly decided to take on a bigger role in the group of Super Friends.
"Dream Weaver" was an episode that we have been begging Supergirl for, one that highlighted two characters who have been pushed to the background for far too long. This hour gave us hope for the remainder of Supergirl Season 6.
Nia has been struggling with the loss of her mother and how to control and understand her powers for quite some time now.
To be honest, we have been just as confused as Nia has been regarding the extent of her abilities as Dreamer.
Obviously, she is very powerful, but we have an inkling that there are still powers that she hasn't even begun to tap into.

Every once in a while, a game comes out that’s a malt of ingredients of various genres that somehow works deliciously. Palia by developer Singularity 6 seems to be one of those games. This new IP is a massive multiplayer community sim that is a combination of different games that’s cut from the same clothe. The elements borrowed for building the world of Palia range from Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and even Pokemon. We forgot how conniving and deceitful John Constantine truly is. Somehow, our hearts are still soft for him, though.
Constantine killed his softer side on DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 Episode 13, which meant that he reverted to his old self and his selfish ways on DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 Episode 14.
However, another person was eviler than Constantine and smarter, and that would be Bishop.
So much happened on "There Will Be Brood" that it is difficult to know where to start in our review. But how can we not dissect that final sequence of scenes?
Constantine used Spooner's blood to summon the Fountain of Imperium. The Fountain then took kid Spooner. Constantine injected himself with Bishop's serum, which then seemingly killed him and possibly Spooner.
All-in-all, it was a crazy last ten minutes.
Spooner: Astra, take care of me.
Astra: Always.

We're so close to the end, Drag Race fans. Just one more round stands in the way of finding out who will join the Drag Race Hall of Fame.
The Final 5 put up a strong fight during RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 6 Episode 11, and while it was a dull round, the queens made one of the biggest moves in the competition. This gameplay might've changed everything, even if they didn't realize it then.
It's anyone's race after this lipstick vote.
Eureka! winning the game-within-a-game wasn't surprising in the least. As we chatted about in the review for RuPaul's Drag Race All Stars Season 6 Episode 10, Eureka had a stronger lip-sync against Silky Nutmeg Ganache.
Silky got too messy with the outfit when it stuck to her leg. Plus, Eureka's lip-sync delivered stronger energy right out of the gate.
It's a shame Silky got the chop after winning six lip-syncs in a row,...

Call of Duty: Warzone is in a strange spot at the start of the game’s Season 5 update. Between the lawsuits and accusations that recently rocked Activision Blizzard and many streamers suddenly deciding to “leave’ the game and play more Apex Legends, the battle royale needs a big win to comfortably maintain its position near the top of the genre.
That makes it that much stranger that the Season 5 update doesn’t even include notable balance updates for the game’s new and existing weapons. The Warzone team has said that balance patches are coming (and Warzone recently received a mid-season update that buffed and nerfed many of the game’s guns), but you’re forgiven if things feel a bit familiar at the moment.
Still, as is usually the case with new Warzone seasons, it seems that an elite few weapons are already climbing their way to the top of the meta.

Spike Lee, the president of the jury at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival, accidentally announced that Julia Ducournau’s “Titane” won the Palme d’Or in what were supposed to be his opening remarks at the awards ceremony. The revelation rocked the crowd inside the Grand Theatre Lumiere, and set social media abuzz at the beginning of a ceremony that traditionally ends with the crowning of the Palme winner.
His slip-up came when a ceremony host, French actress Doria Tiller, asked Lee, “Can you tell me which prize is the first prize?” Lee got to his feet, and instead of telling her that the best actor award would be the first one handed out, said, “Yes, I can. The film that won the Palme d’Or is ‘Titane.'” Fellow juror Melanie Laurent reached for Lee and shouted, “No!” while other jurors laughed or buried their faces in their hands.

Is Fear the Walking Dead preparing for another soft reboot?
Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 16 showed all of the characters in truly perilous situations, but the developments were a little too rushed.
The creative forces clearly wanted to go the extra mile to leave fans with many cliffhangers, but adding another 30 minutes would have allowed the finale some breathing room to give us some more of the character-building we've come to expect.
One of my biggest annoyances with this series is that Morgan continually finds a way to survive. In the final few episodes alone, he was thrown into a pile of walkers and somehow escaped unscathed.
Surviving the initial blasts by hiding under a truck was completely and utterly ridiculous, even more so when the walkers in the vicinity were charred. It would have been way more believable to have him, Grace, and the kid hides it out in the submarine.

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is the only show where you can use alien and Amelia Earhart in the same sentence when talking about it and it makes total sense.
We saw more extraterrestrial creatures on DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 Episode 6 than we probably have on all of DC's Legends of Tomorrow Season 6 so far, and it was epic.
We were promised aliens, and aliens are what we got. But we also are getting a great villain, surprising plot twists, and an intriguing story that we are excited to watch every week.
"Bishop's Gambit" was another fun hour produced by the wackiest team of writers on network television. Even though it didn't contribute much to furthering the overarching season story until its last scene, it was still successful.
We didn't learn much more about Bishop's plan, nor were the Legends any closer to saving Sara despite Mick's attempts. But...

For an episode with all of the ingredients of being the best in franchise history, Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 15 was a frustrating hour of TV.
The USS Pennsylvania was a great setting. It was claustrophobic, had radioactive walkers, and a race against the clock to disarm Teddy and his missiles.
For the first time this season, the writing fell flat, with the characters making bizarre decisions that didn't track well with what came before, leading me to question what's on the menu for Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 16, and beyond.
Morgan has the most plot armor of any character on television. Lennie James has been a part of the franchise for a decade, and damn, Morgan has found himself in more than a dozen deadly situations.

Zack Snyder’s zombie epic “Army of the Dead” is off to a strong start on Netflix, as the streamer reports (via Deadline) that the movie is expected to be viewed by 72 million households over its first four weeks of release. That number puts “Army of the Dead” in the number 10 spot on the list of biggest Netflix original openings. “Army of the Dead” opened to the same household views as George Clooney’s “The Midnight Sky,” which launched over the Christmas holiday last year. It’s important to note that Netflix recognizes a “view” as any subscriber who watched two minutes of the movie’s runtime.
The strong opening for “Army of the Dead” is good news for Snyder, who intends to launch a new franchise for the streamer with his Dave Bautista-starring action movie. Two “Army”-connected films are already in development at Netflix, one is an...

Will Squad 3 make it out alive?
That's the question on everyone's mind as Chicago Fire Season 9 Episode 16 came to a close.
Severide, Cruz, Capp, and Tony are out of air, submerged underwater, and there's nothing Truck 81 or Ambo 61 could do but watch the events unfold, fingers crossed that everything works out all right.
Realistically speaking, it's unclear if the entire squad company would die if put in a situation like this.
However, this is television, and there's no way the series would kill off four characters in one fell swoop like this, right?
Kidd: I love this house. When I get my lieutenant’s placement how am I ever going to find a house as good as this one?
Severide: I’m not gonna lie, it’s gonna be a tough search finding you the right house, but wherever you go, you’ll take a piece of 51 with you. You’ll plant it,...

Will does it all the time, constantly putting his opinion of what's best for patients above the proper procedures.
And on Chicago Med Season 6 Episode 15, he sacrificed everything to keep Natalie out of trouble for doing the same thing, while Marcel ended up thanking April for not following protocols after her choice saved a man's life.
It wasn't surprising that Will decided to take responsibility for the stolen meds even though it meant the end of his relationship with Veroni five seconds after she forgave him for the last stupid thing he did.
Veroni: Stop making excuses! I trusted you and you betrayed me like this. Who's the patient?
Will: She's Natalie's mother.
Veroni: That explains it, doesn't it? You realize you might just have compromised the entire trial. Not to mention your career.

But that image of Sara came crashing down when Alex found Sara’s hidden journal and read it in the Season 2 premiere of the addictive and soapy Netflix series, which dropped this Wednesday. Titled “The Two Faces of Sara,” the installment kicked off with a flashback of Sara having a psychotic break and attacking her mother and best friend, Marifer, before casually sauntering off to hang out with Alex and Rodolfo as if nothing had happened.

The latest season of When Calls the Heart found two teams of viewers battling it out for their pledge to win Elizabeth's heart.
But by focusing all of our attention on Nathan and Lucas, we failed to recognize that the true journey was Elizabeth allowing love into her heart and saying goodbye to the life she thought she was going to live and the man with whom she was going to live it.
There were so many disappointed and disillusioned people when Elizabeth chose Lucas, calling foul in light of the last few seasons, that I decided to dig through my reviews to see how things really fleshed out while watching to see how they fell in love over time.
Did the story progress naturally, or did Nathan fans get blindsided? Beginning with Nathan's introduction, I'm drilling down the relationship dynamics that unfolded during When Calls the Heart Season 6 and...

To appreciate art, sometimes you need to watch it multiple times.
Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 12 was a poignant hour that didn't flow as well as it should have due to it coming immediately after the events of Fear the Walking Dead Season 6 Episode 11.
A Grace-centric hour was inevitable, and with the powerhouse that is Karen David at the wheel, it was always going to be worth watching. Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the dream-like scenario.
Yes, it was cool to see how characters like Dwight, Morgan, Daniel, and Strand could end up in 16 years, but watching Grace meeting her daughter, only for her to be taken away in the end, was downright cruel.
Grace arrived on Fear the Walking Dead Season 5 and has quickly emerged as a fan favorite. Honestly, I've always had this feeling the rug was going to be pulled out from under us...

What a mess Nat made, and she's not the only one.
On Chicago Med Season 6 Episode 13, Nat's efforts to cover up her theft of the trial meds for her mom led her to tell one lie after another and may have cost her her relationship with Marcel.
And she wasn't the only one making emotional decisions that had obvious consequences, either.
Nat's original choice to take those meds was stupid but understandable. She's trying to save her mom's life, the trial is closed, and the meds were easily accessible.
Will should have kept the box in a secure location until the courier came for them. After all, drug theft is a problem in hospitals sometimes.
But Nat should have realized that the disappearance of Any drug is going to be investigated. People aren't likely to steal heart medication to get high, but hospitals keep a close eye on drug supplies for a reason.
