It's night and Damon sucks a slurpee and walks onto a dark baseball diamond. He pretends to throw a pitch. He pretends to get a hit to great applause. He then pees on home plate.
It's day and Ray goes to visit Lenore. She's sleeping and annoyed. She makes him talk through the intercom. He tells her to stay away from Jessica. She says she's her friend. She asks what he is to Jessica. Is he thinking about saving her marriage or trying to destroy it? She says she has a new client for him.
Tanya's landlords are looking for her rent. She's two months behind. Ray arrives and says he has a problem with Lenore. He says he doesn't trust her and he doesn't like the way she treats Tanya. The husband part of the landlord team is mad at her and wants the rent. Tanya asks what's up with Ray and says he can't just have a bad feeling and ditch her, it's unprofessional. Tanya says Lenore's got the clients right now, but she will try to book the wealthy widow.
Jessica and Ronnie shower together. He says he's hopeful and he loves her and he's been thinking about their talk about a baby, no pressure. He says he's been thinking about family and how there are no medical or face problems in his family. He really wants to pass on that tradition to a baby. Jessica says at 42 she's not having a baby with him.
Ronnie heads into the kitchen all wet and ranting and raving about wanting his oatmeal. He smashes a plate. He screams at Jessica's mother that this is not what he signed up for, nor is it the life of his dreams.
Ray's assistant coach tells Ray that Damon was seen peeing on home plate.
Ray tells Tanya. Tanya says she can see what he was going for, releasing his anger in a non-violent way. She says maybe he needs a role model that isn't Ray, someone who shares his interests. She tells him to take him to a poetry jam. He tosses the flyer and, on a moving sidewalk, she tries to pick it up and bangs her head. Ray doesn't think Damon needs to hang out with a bunch of beret-wearing strangers. Tanya shows him the wealthy widow from a distance; she just wants to see him from afar across the food court. And then they're done and he can't believe he came all that way for a glance. Tanya says the wealthy widow is Moby Dick and she's worth it.
Ronnie comes and apologizes to Jessica and her mom. Her mom walks off. He sits and tells Jessica that he's loved her since the tenth grade and says he was afraid that if he told her the truth about wanting babies she wouldn't marry him. He says he loves her more than life itself and he wants to be on the inside. She says she loves him too and she wants him to be on the inside too. He interprets this as her wanting to have a baby. This is not what she meant.
On Ray's pier Damon and Ray fish. Damon is trying not to cry. Ray asks if there's anything he wants to tell him. He says he's his dad and he loves him no matter what. He talks about his own dad devoting his life outside work to making duck decoys and he wanted to destroy him. He tells him the custodian saw him. He says they're alike and Ray can understand him and that they're fellow travelers and it's normal to want to get back at your old man. Damon say she didn't want to "piss on Ray," that he just drank a lot of pop and really had to pee.
Ray goes to the hotel to pick up his key and has a piece of paper to remember his name. His assistant Mike is there at a singles event. Mike's impressed he's getting a room. Ray takes off and tells Mike to knock 'em dead.
Ray enters the room where a young woman is blowing out candles on a birthday cake. She's in a negligee and feeds him frosting and starts kissing him. They immediately begin getting it on. She introduces herself as Christina as he enters her. He's her birthday present. She has him sing "Happy Birthday" to her as he does it. Over and over again. Slow, fast, loud, quiet, with an Irish accent.
The next day Ronnie's at the wood chipper as Jessica and Lenore enjoy a beverage. Lenore apologizes for the "ho" standing her up. Jessica's no longer interested. She talks about her Ronnie problem. Lenore says she can either give a definitive no or say yes. Lenore asks after Ray and if he's single. She says a lot of women would appreciate Ray but not as much as what she has with Ronnie.
At baseball practice Ray explains to Mike that he was seeing a "nice girl" at the hotel. Mike points out it was a nice hotel. He asks if she was the special donor responsible for the uniforms. Ray says she is. Mike asks after the fake name. Jessica drops by Ray's practice to say she doesn't think they should go bowling anymore, it's weird, and her girlfriend thinks so too. Ray asks who? She says Lenore. Ray says he doesn't know about that woman, saying she's got red eyes like a rat. Jessica tells him that Ronnie wants her to have a baby and she thought he should know. With him? Ray asks. She says she'd think about it. Ray looks stricken and turns away.
At the poetry slam Tanya reads her poem "Phallus." It stabs into her and she fights it with angry moist folds of her soul. It's kind of gross in its explicitness. Ray and Damon listen with interest of different varieties. Tanya tries to get the audience to join in on her catchphrase "you can't f--- me because I'm already f----d." They start doing it and she carries on. It ends well and she gets good applause. She holds court with some folks, including Ray and Damon, where she talks about being an artist. She calls Damon an artist for pissing on home plate. Ray gets up to leave and tells Tanya she was great and that it was nice to meet all "you people" and to keep doing what they're doing. Damon wants to stay and Tanya offers him a ride home. Ray leaves. One of the poets says, as Ray walks away, "that right there is America, the red, the white and the green, the USA." Ray watches from the door as Damon chats with the poets.
As he leaves we see the club is called Lost Souls.
