Some great segments among the dross
lor_24 May 2016
The defunct Playgirl TV series of 100 plus DVDs are compilations that hit or miss depending on the selections. Of course, they don't add up to anything, just almost random (like a jukebox lineup) assortments of porn filler, but occasionally an interesting vignette pops up.

There's at least a couple from director Skye Blue that fill that bill. She has a fun black & white segment (turns to color for the XXX content) which carefully simulates an old movie, though the format is more like a silent film but the actual setting (per clapperboard chalked notation) is 1948. Randy Spears is the director, but what we see is more of a still photography session with his star Victoria Valentina than re-creating a movie set (saves on talent and other costs).

She's an unusual beauty; details all seem authentic period touches, and the humping is erotic. That makes for a satisfying Adult pantomime.

Another period setting is used for "Picket Fence", a bucolic fantasy of Jenna Presley getting her wish of simple, rural life with stud husband Nick Jacobs. The outdoor sex is just what a Couples audience craves.

Katja Kassin brings her expertise to "Smoking Seduction", oddly presenting not cigarette smoking nor KK' s anal sex habit to the screen but rather footsie and foot job action performed on Mark Frenchy. Surprisingly the narration is provided by Steven St. Croix (easy to recognize his dulcet tones), who stars elsewhere in one of the mediocre segments opposite Holly Sampson.

To contrast with Skye's main event, there is a tedious bonus segment directed by a card-carrying hack Oren Cohen titled "Special Handling" featuring Derrick Pierce and Reagan Maddux, shot on auto pilot.
