Should it not be fair to say in the minds of every soul seeking out an existence lies even a modicum of conspiratorial curiosity? That, even in open defiance of logic and rationality, what we consider to be truth is nothing more than a cleverly constructed illusion propped up by some faceless organisation to keep what is truth oblivious to all but a select few? Conspiracies have been abound for time immemorial but, in an age of flippant misinformation and “alternative truth” lunacy, such flirtations have become politicized, weaponized, and, in at least one particular instance, treasonous. In Jang Joon-hwan’s insatiably riotous debut, far-flung craziness runs amok in the guise of Byeong-gu, a young man who believes it is up to him to Save the Green Planet from an imminent alien invasion; shockingly, he has his audience hanging upon his every word.

It had been nearly three decades since a film was last screened in Ciné Apollon, an open-air theater in the resort town of Edipsos on the north shore of the Greek island of Evia. But the arrival of several hundred moviegoers on June 15 for a screening of French filmmaker Coline Serreau’s “La Belle Verte” (The Green Planet) offered a much-needed sense of rebirth: for the cinema, and for an island that was devastated by catastrophic wildfires last summer.
As part of wide-ranging efforts to revitalize struggling communities and give a boost to the local economy, the organizers of the Thessaloniki Film Festival this year launched the Evia Film Project, a five-day event that underscores the perils of climate change and offers the film industry a chance to explore the possibilities of green film production.

The BBC’s Natural History Unit has partnered with transformational charity Moondance Foundation to launch a campaign inspired by David Attenborough series “The Green Planet.”
The #OurGreenPlanet campaign will work alongside conservationists and digital influencers to highlight the role that plants and green habitats play in biodiversity in order to inspire behavioural change and ecosystem restoration.
As part of the collaboration, Moondance Foundation is also backing a 12-month production deal with the Natural History Unit (Nhu). Through the deal, Nhu’s digital team will create a specially-made programme of online content supporting the campaign. The content will initially be hosted on BBC Earth’s Instagram page before being seeded out to other collaborating platforms.
Supported by Attenborough himself, the programme aims to inspire all the planet’s citizens, from local communities to inventors, to preserve the earth by introducing them to the green spaces all around them.

Exclusive: “Bringing BBC Three back to linear TV” would have been far down former BBC Director General Tony Hall’s list of predictions for his successor’s first major piece of business.
In 2014, having only just become Dg, Hall took the first forward-thinking decision of his own rein by making BBC Three a solely online channel, knocking a hefty £50M ($67.4M) from its budget (the money was diverted to drama) and acting ahead of the curve of the viewing habits of BBC Three’s younger target market, who were showing a greater propensity to watch programing on streaming platforms at a time of their choosing.
Fast-forward six years and Hall’s successor, Tim Davie, dramatically U-turned, giving the greenlight to a plan that had been in the works for several months and announcing that BBC Three was to return to traditional TV sets. Just as crucially, the channel would be given its £50M back.
