Perfect blend of Mystery and Romance
KatharinaSchneider20 April 2011
The beauty of the film is its softness, and how effectively it blends Mystery,Romance and fear of unknown. The unlikely combination of a German girl, Jewish baker, American lady and Marlene Dietrich the dead film star makes the plot intriguing . Julie Kilzer plays the title character of Viola with ease and finesse. Supported by solid performances from Peter O'Connor, Beverly Hayes,Arthur Harold ,Bristol Pomeroy and Nick Dullea. Director/Cinematographer Biju Viswanath, handles the theme with mastery .The theme music by the Austrian composer Christof Moser is evocative and soulful. "Viola" can be interpreted in different levels - self discovery, hope, surviving destructive relationships, finding order in chaos, souls interacting each other in different time and space. Depending on his/her sensibilities and outlook ,each viewer can take what they will from it.

"Viola" is a well crafted, feel good film about the process of self discovery. A wonderful movie with a very interesting and unexpected ending. This is one of those movies whose virtues and subtleties become more and more apparent with subsequent viewings.
