Francis Lawrence is officially on board to direct the second film in the "Hunger Games" franchise, "Catching Fire." After Gary Ross parted with the box-office blockbuster last month, one of the film's stars, Liam Hemsworth, is opening up about the new director, sharing that he finds the prospect of a new set of eyes on the story an exciting prospect.
"The last I heard, the new director [Lawrence] had just come on, so that's really cool," he told E! News over the weekend. "I'm excited about that. I think we shoot the last few months of this year. I'm really sad to see that Gary's not going to be part of the second one. He did such an amazing job on the first."

We've already heard "Hunger Games" star Wes Bentley address the fan fervor surrounding his role as Seneca Crane — or, more specifically, the beard that was specially crafted for his character. Now it's time to get into his thoughts on the impact of Suzanne Collins' best-selling trilogy as a whole and what he thought about reading them for the first time knowing he might be bringing Crane to life on the big screen.
"I think they're fantastic novels. She's a great writer, very poetic at times, and I love that," Bentley told MTV News. "What struck me first was that it was politically sophisticated, a level at which you don't see in adult novels. I also found it very exciting,...

Not since the adaptations of the "Harry Potter" and "Twilight" sagas has there been as much buzz surrounding the casting of a beloved book headed for the big screen as there is right now for "The Hunger Games."
While most of the talk has been around who will play the story's heroine, Katniss (Hailee Steinfeld, Chloe Moretz and Elle Fanning are just a few of the actresses rumored to be vying for the part), many fans are wondering who will be cast as Katniss' Hunger Games partner (and possible love interest) Peeta.
MTV News caught up with Liam Hemsworth at the Sundance Film Festival on Saturday (January 22), and it turns out the actor hasn't just had his name thrown in the ring for consideration: He's already read the script.
