This film is considered a Korean War wartime propaganda film of Australia.
Writer-director Tom Gurr said of this film in his production proposal: "Our commentary is not delivered in the usual radio-voice style. It is spoken slowly and clearly (a necessity when American audiences are to follow British English) by an Australian man's voice. For it is the voice of an Australian fighting man, giving the dimension of sound to the simple cinematic story of why he fights today, and how."
This film is about a South Australian soldier who fought in the Korean War in the Royal Australian Regiment's 3rd Battalion. The soldier recounts his story of the war and in Seoul, South Korea, he comments: "This is what happens when world communism moves in on a country...This is the kind of mess it makes in a place where people thought they could be happy".
