Episode 4, strongest yet

Well, we're now 4 episodes in for today and the Diplomat is picking up steam! You have to suspend belief that an ambassador holds this much sway, and once resigned to that, you will enjoy the show much more. I look at Keri Russell's character more like a Claire Daines in Homeland type.

The endings of these episodes are excellent and have you ready to jump into the next one.

Small critique, for a couple on the cusp of a divorce, Keri Russell and Sewell sure seem to get along.

Highlight of episode 4 is finding out who did the ship bombing , no spoilers of course, but the mystery is far from over, stay tuned!

Finally Down to Business

I liked this episode because when the assistant said to forget about the marriage and the possible divorce, he was speaking for me. I wanted that to stop being the driving force in the plots of these episodes. Here we get down the work of the diplomat, confrontations with nay-sayers, active confrontations, information seeking, leaking information, and so on. While Kate is always edgy, she lets it go while she starts to settle into her role. We can see that for the first time she is enjoying what is going on. I wish the abusive language were toned down a bit (too many f bombs which lose their effect through over use). I've never been in foreign service but to people really swear constantly. Two sentences in a row without profanity would be a treat.

Hair and

Why do the two lead women wear their hair in such a messy fashion?

Peppering the dialog with F-bombs seems to go with the hair styles.

Otherwise good writing saves the series.

Whatever paired the seasoned Sewall with the less so leading lady results in good on screen chemistry.

Warning: Spoilers
"He Bought a Hat" gave us yet another episode with the exact same format, the exact same fights among the core staff, but did throw in some soapy Desperate Housewives kind of moments at the end with Kate and Hal literally fighting in the bushes. The show is sure to include, or try to include, some comedy along the way, but this was the most obvious aspect of it as they went from sly jokes peppered into discussion to outright slapstick. Not sure that is the best plan.

But we are now 50% into the show's run and I am still interested in seeing how it all ends so no harm no foul on the forest shenanigans.

Stop doing what you accuse everyone else of

First off I really like this show. Until this episode I would have rated it a 9. This one gets a 5 for one singular reason. He stopped running campaigns because it was stolen? Hint to the ****** (insert your own pejorative word) in Hollywood. No elections have been stolen unless you are willing to acknowledge that it can happen both ways. This was one clearly in reference to Bush Gore and clearly not Trump Biden. Frankly a lot more truth to the Trump/Biden one but as someone who voted for Trump and who personally knows someone who saw official misconduct at 2am that morning in Detroit I am willing to let that one go, IF you let Bush Gore go. If not get off your horse.
